Hopefully some KPE owners are still here to answer some questions for me. So I just picked up one these from micro center openbox for a crazy price. $1200 which i think is a steal. I was nervous about it but it seems like it was working even though it looks tempered with. I did some overclocking with precision x1 getting the core to 2175 and the memory to 8550, but I've been stable at 8700 but decided to turn it down since I saw memory temps hit 60c. Superposition 4k score is like 142xx. I see some people getting 2200+ on the core freq. Even with the classified tool and putting 1.15 nvvdd and fbvdd 1.45 I still crash at anything over 2175. Do I need to add more mv or is 2200+ done on the ln2 bios. My gpu temps never go past 45c.

I have yet to see the kingpin memory get that high and be stable. Most kingpins to my knowledge in fact usually benchmark scores start going down if over 8500-8550.  Memory temps at 60C are nothing to even think about worrying about though, the GDDR6 memory is good all the way up to like 96C before issues start arising. As far as core clock on average the kingpins were around the 2175 with the stock AIO cooler but there was a few people hitting 2190-2205 and some could only get 2160 as well, just the luck of the draw with your particular chip. To gt and keep those higher core clocks though your gonna need to keep those temps in the low 30'sC range.

So I was able to get 2205 by bumping the nvvdd to 1.19 and changing the loadline to level 1. It was stable and gpu temps went to 50c but I was just doing this for benchmarking. Most likely I will stay at 2175 and leave the mem at 8300. My superposition bench score was 4490 which is pretty impressive. Thank you for the info though

If you want higher core ( over 2300) you need very good cooling using classy and XOC.
I got a full full bench run at 2310 but had to use ice, portable air con,  main room air con as well as a Koolance unit on my CPU.
I have screen shots of classy settings and XOC settings if you need .
I'm talking keeping GPU around 25 - 30 all the way through a run .
I found that as soon as the temps go above 30 , you core clock will start dropping.

I have a crazy amount of pc fans as you can see from photos. I went over kill. Was thinking about a custom water setup. Besides ln2 or custom watercooling what options would I have on this card? Kinda new to this stuff

Take the rad from your case, remove fans for rad and try ice water. It works .
I've put posts and pics up of my set up .
I'll have a look see if I can find them .
Using the rad and fans, it's never going to get cool enough for extreme OC.
All the fans do is move ambient air around .
If you really want fast clocks , you'll also have to OC your CPU and RAM as well.
Just bumping up voltages on your GPU without OC the rest won't give you the results you are after .
It was actually Sparetime that turned me onto how important good cooling is to maintain high clocks with these bad boys
Unfortunately ,even lots of fans just won't cut it with the speeds you are after .

Good to know. That's quite a setup you have there. My wife would give me an ear full. She gets annoyed when I benchmark because she doesnt understood the point lol. Yea I have amd 3900x clocked to 4.5 all core. Ram is also overclocked with tight timings. Cpuz I get 565 single and 8800 multi. I know single is the key to gaming. I def can go higher but not at a comfortable vcore. I'm wondering if I can get a bigger cooler on this card but from my on personal test 360 and 240 pretty much perform the same. I'm sure the thermal paste evga uses is really good and not worth changing either.

If you don't want to try the ice trick , the other thing to try is a water block for your KPE card and use an open loop cooling solution.
Sparetime has a thread about the Bykski block here somewhere .
I actually have one here too and they are very well made.
Ive also got a KPE dice pot here if you want to try that

Decided to leave it alone for now. I was only wondering for benchmarking purposes. For right now 8350 mem Nd 2175 core clock has been serving me well.

Yes , they are expensive cards to brick.
2175 is pretty good on core .

Yea I can actually reach 2205 with no issues and bump the memory up to 8550 without a hiccup but call of duty is not very overclock friendly and will throw a dev error once in a blue so I turned the oc down. It's honestly the only game that I crash on. For whatever reason cod will only allow 2130 core it will never go past that on whatever oc I have

Cod doesn't like RAM OC either .
With a KPE, there should be no need to OC when playing this.
Pointless going for 200 - 300fps on a 165Hz monitor for example.

Yea I had to turn the oc down or else i would crash randomly. I play at 165fps 2k max settings with an issue. I have another friend who has an asus 2080ti that can barely hit 120fps on 2k with the same cpu as me, same overclock except his ram is 4000 vs mine being at 3600

Re: Kingpin RTX classified controller settings 2020/05/03 10:38:04 (permalink)
Ok so maybe I'm doing this all wrong but let me ask some questions.
So I have the occt benchmarking app running because I keep crashing in many games. I run occt 3d stress test to look for errors and I'm throwing errors due to core clock. If I add +70 I'm fine anything above that throws errors and is mostly likely the reason I'm crashing. Now the weird thing is when I use classified tool if I add more voltage my core clock drops significantly like to 1950s but if I undervolt and leave the nvvdd at least say the .8-.9 I get higher clock speeds and no more errors thrown is that normal?

When you add more voltage your core clock is dropping because your creating more heat and it's preventing it from boosting higher. Are you using the stock AIO cooler and fans?

You have a KPE ?
Stop looking for problems .
Game .... COD will do well over 200FPS without touching anything . Don't OC your card while gaming as there is no need .
If you want to benchmark , depends how serious you want to get .
I will give you all the info and sites on how to make a KPE sing.
Risky but up to you .
You have seen my pics and cooling is the most important .
I use a chiller but if I want to really OC , I use ice .

I do have a kpe and yes stock cooler and fans. I guess your right, I'm going to have to leave it where its stable. Adding voltage creates heat so that I understand. I do 3d modeling as well besides gaming and that's been ok with any oc I apply. I'll leave it alone tho, thanks for all the info.

Figured it out by the way. Turned out the power supply was the issue. I had a 1000w thermaltake about 4 years old now Just used my 850w seasonic from another build just to power the gpu and now everything is running stable.

When I OC my KPE, I could get the card to take well over 700watts .
i9 9900ks will take between 150 to 200 whilst OC.
I would use a bigger psu but up to you .
I did have a 1200watt but changed to an Evga 1600watt just for peace of mind .

Wow 700. When I'm using hwinfo64 running games or 3dmark the most I see is 310 max and thats with 1200 to the mem and 100 to core and power limit set high. im usually at 280w using 75% and 90% of power limit. My case can hold two psus so I have the 850 for the cpu and 1000w for the gpu. Is it normal to not hit power limits. Perfcap is always voltage reliability

That's excellent watercooling.
If someone have money to invest radiators out of case is best option.
Much less dust and special if someone could afford some Koolance unit as your.
If not then Cubic radiators from Waterool, MO-RA3 360.
3x360mm radiators out of PC case, D5 pump on 100% and only tubes inside case.

Ah I see. Since I'm on stock water cooler does not make sense for me to go on xoc bios. On superposition I'm stable all the way up to 2200. On Firestrike extreme 2145 max.

Your 1000 watt psu is big enough for your whole PC with stock cooling, even if using xoc bios your not gonna use 1000 watts, what CPU do you have?

using 3900x OCed to 4.45ghz
Asus Crosshair hero VIII x570
Enermax Liquid Cooler 360
3600 cl14 ram with tight ram timings
14 fans that push 80+cfm
Im pretty sure my 1000 can hold the system but since i had two psu's and space to fit two im just running two. when GPU is on full load i hit a max temp of 40. Thats 2k gaming with all settings on max. cpu runs at 35-36 max while gaming. Running on Xoc is pretty much for extreme cooling though right. I doubt with stock AIO I would benefit from it. On most games i can reach 165hz on 2k but i have to be OCed. On stock settings 130-140 is where i live.

Yeah if your staying with stock cooling xoc isn't gonna benefit any. I would suggest flashing the ln2 bios to the OC position though and at least getting the max cooling and fan speeds available.

OK so I understand correctly. I'm in the OC Position already. Flash the ln2 bios there and that will give me 100% fan but still maintain the thermal protection?
