Why you gotta come in here now and push me further down the list right when I was getting hopeful I might be in the next drop lol

I always think the same on some level, but truthfully it's a good thing to know.  I know you know that too..  the duality of oh man, but knowing is half the battle.

If anyone gets ahold of an AMD 5900x & is willing to sell it for a reasonable price to someone that's actually going to put it to good use, I'm willing to pay a reasonable amount for your acquirement of it - got my motherboard choice for the X570 build path picked, just need a CPU, and with all the stories of the 5800x being a hotbox of a CPU, I'm not really interested in buying that as a temporary CPU until I can get my hands on a higher end one.

Good luck on the drops guys!

I feel the same about this.  It's hard seeing your name pushed down the list when you just started to move up.  Especially since we were waiting.  That's the difficult thing, tracking your position only to see yourself going the wrong way. But it is the reality of the voluntary queue list, you just never know how many people there are in front of you.

I could say a whole lot of negatives about late additions, but I will keep my mouth shut on this one.  Best of luck to everyone, I stand in the place where I signed up with nothing more expected.  I learned not to watch the list after watching my name go in the wrong direction too many times.

Thank you sincerely though Enewt and the others for doing the list.  I'm sure along with many others, we appreciate  all the work you guys do in providing us the light at the end of the tunnel that we are heading to.

btw, if you aren't wearing green go pinch yourself.  Have a great day guys/gals.

Are you sure you going to want to switch?  I thought you were pushing overclocks and stuff?  Isn't the intel CPU's better for the over-clockers especially when considering the RAM memory speeds.  If you are switching over, it's a hard fight to get one of those 5900s.  I've seen them online at microcenters and I think right now knowing someone near one would be your best bet.  I had to settle for the 5800x in the end.  I have the 5600x but I'm going to rebuild my system so I wanted a little more and since I'm going open loop I'm not going to be concerned about cooling since I'm mostly using it to game/watch content anyway.

This open loop stuff is costing me an arm and leg, maybe even a first born as well. You know how this goes, since I'm changing out my case, mind as well change the PSU at the same time, oh I forgot...maybe the mobo since my current one doesn't really support open loops...mind as well change the cpu....and the list goes on and on.  In the end, the only things I am keeping are my ram and nvme/ssd drives.

So which AMD motherboard have you decided on, because I am also thinking of switching from Intel to AMD?  I currently have a 9700K.

A lot of the work I'm doing now would benefit from more cores rather than straight higher clocks.  That's why I'm aiming for higher core count.

I'm seriously considering a 3900x or 3950x as a temporary CPU since they resell used for a decent amount so the loss on resale would be minimal, and it would give me something to use for "right now" to get the AMD system up & running as soon as possible.

And yeah, open loops are a rabbit hole :-D I'm enjoying it though!

5900x is hard to grab.  I have a 3900x and am figuring at this point I might as well wait for the Warhol version in the fall-winter.  Then *maybe* the 5900x or 5900xt? will be available.  Unless AMD moves Warhol off the A4.  I'd rather tweak my current build than start all over again.

Damn last week I won newegg shuffle on that... Didn't buy cause I ended keeping my 5800x...

I hoped it ended in a non scalper hands.

And I have a custom loop for my 5800x... At EDC 100% (140W) I am at 80C with cinebench runing in a loop... So yeah it's frikin hot. But AIO I heard it get throttled so yeah better having the 5900x otherwise.

Somehow I missed this post earlier, I'm relatively settled on this high-USB count lassy: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07T5QFXFY/ It's expensive, but when you factor in $60-$100 for the M.2 card, and how many ports it has, it's pretty much what I want.

Nevermind, I didnt see me before, saw me on there now.

I have notifies up for another model, same date, the 26th of December, and I have seen that particular model up for sale on multiple sites since then.
I feel a little slighted by EVGA at this point.

I have the 3900x on my msi board and it runs Great. Use it for work, gaming, content, CPU mining no problem at all Temps stay down with the stock air cooler but you will probably change that lol. Rarely does the cpu usage get up over 50 percent. I do want to get the cpu running on a closed loop just havent found one in my budget yet that anyone has recommended anyways. I run a pair of nvme's in it and some standard ssds. The thing fly's for me.

Stoney,
I use the Lian Li AIO right now, it's been pretty good. The stock fans are decent fans which is a plus since some of the AIOs come with fans that are crap.  The fit and finish was good, the only thing is that it doesn't have 4 mounting points for AMD cpus.  It does make installing really easy though.  I didn't use the included thermal paste though, but I wouldn't trust any of the stuff most AIOs include anyway.  My temps with the 5600x on my tuff gaming X570 board are really good.  I also bought one for my son's pc when we did his upgrades.  He had a very bad HP omen which had temps for his Intel I7 9700K at around 180 degrees.  Changed everything out except the ram and the CPU.  Now his pc runs around 100-130 which is good since the ambient is around 80 degrees where we live.  We used the 360mm aio for both our builds.  Take a look on youtube for some of the builds.  I really like it a lot.

So which AMD motherboard have you decided on, because I am also thinking of switching from Intel to AMD?  I currently have a 9700K.

Had me a MSI MEG creation x399 & 2950x, which i'm selling if your interested as a cheap temp until....but your import fees from UK might jack it up, which was perfect for blender gaming but more importantly for me that workstation MB USB count and stability after a few bios update issues from MSI was perfect. I ran 27 USB connected gear simultaneously, most legacy 2.0, like a high power draw racing sim rig, wheels etc, HMD, two keyboards [1 with hub], 3 monitors [2 with hubs], HDD caddy USB hub, UPS usb etc.
48 hours on the suppose only non doubled phase VRM x570 two MB, got the gigabyte aorus master [cant get my preferred aorus extreme with its extra USB hub this side of Japan to uk  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284206654741?chn=ps&mkevt=1&mkcid=28 ] and a 5900x it would be nice to test my temp asus strix 3080 but between the lost sata drives non boot drives, incorrect corrupted windows & repair on 1 bios the on 2nd its fine, USB disconnects and plain will not boot if certain keyboards hubs or peripheral are plugged in on bios after is staggering.
Bought this on amazon so will try more bios over the next few days before 30 return ends but if no joy will have to go back to threadripper workstation 3960x but 5900x gaming on MS flightsim was sweet vs 3960x https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-ryzen-9-5950x-5900x-zen-3-review/5
Shame about gigabyte on x570 as they are the only non doubled buildzoid approved and owned and my backup gigabyte z390 Aorus Ultra on intel been solid, these on a x570 mb bios that been released in 2019!

Stoney,
I use the Lian Li AIO right now, it's been pretty good.

Good to know, looking at this morning and seeing some mixed opinions but mostly good. A lot of comments about pump wine have you guys noticed any of that. One person was saying it was mostly about the prep before install and has it listed out what he did and he gets no whine. Just curious because with more looking I am seeing that the Arctic Freezer 360 actually performs better but no RGB. I dont really need the RGB and at the same time I kinda want them. I really dont see them as much in my current Thor case but at some point I want to change up to a Lian Li case and then it will be a bigger deal.

I ended up with a 5950x (microcenter ftw) and got an MSI x570 Creation motherboard:
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/prestige-x570-creation

It's overkill for what I wanted (Gigabyte Ultra x570 Master) - and not as "pretty" but it has been a great Motherboard so far. Stable despite my best attempts.

MSI FTW.

Stoney,
I have used the Galahads in three installs that I did.  One for me, one for my son, and one for a friend.  Once the case was closed, I didn't notice the whine on any of the three.  Even with the case open, I didn't notice it either.  The only thing I did was prior to install, I purposely lowered the pump head below the rad since I mounted the rads in the front and the hoses on top to allow any air that might be in the system to go to the rad.  Once I did that, it was easy install on the AMD based installs.  The Intel was a little more, but nothing that you wouldn't have to do with any other AIO.  The AMD one was easy because it only uses the two clips to secure, but even with that I haven't noticed any thermal issues with the AMDs despite this.  The fans are pretty good with this unit so points for them on that one that they included fans you can actually use.  The finish of the rad was pretty cool if you mount it where it can be seen.  The hoses have a sleeved look which is a nice finishing touch.  the only negative is one from a personal opinion is that if you are using 4 rams sticks and your mobo has them close to the CPU, you might want to run the hoses on the back side closer to the backplate if possible.  I don't like anything pushing on my rams sims, so I didn't take a chance.  The hoses are long (400mm) so it should not be an issue with most cases.  And it comes in white or black in 240 or 360 lengths.

As for the artic freezer, that is a good one too.  No RGB like you said, but it does have the fan on the pump head which is more than likely part of the reason why it has better thermals.  Another bonus is that the increased airflow around the CPU can also help cool the VRMs on the mobo by increasing air flow in and around the area.  Another plus also is that the AIO tubes exit the pump from the center of the pump head.  You don't have to worry about hitting the ram sims with this configuration.  This would have been my second choice for AIOs to be honest.  The only negative on this one was the fans for the rad I think if I recall correctly.  In the end, I didn't use mines anyway since I went with a setup that used Lian Li's unifans throughout the system I did for myself and my friend.  I used the Lian Li's fans on my son's build since i was already paying over 2k for his rebuild and didn't want to spend anymore if I didn't have to on his.  I'm not an expert, but this is one area where I thought the artic freezer could have been better.  But the price is great for this one and it does have good affects on thermals.

I just went with the Lian Li because I used in the first build and really liked the fit/finish/ease of install due to the lengths of the hoses/and it performed well with my son's intel based I7-9700K system.  The performance of the Lian Li on that system sold me, not saying the artic freezer wouldn't have done better but it was more than good enough for me.  My thermals on my 5600x in my warm environment is pretty good.  My CPU barely breaks 120 degrees during the day when pushing my pc while playing games with a 3070 air cooled card sharing the case.

One last thing is that I would make sure before you buy one to figure out your rad placements before you do.  So much of rad placements/intake or exhaust can affect overall performance.  This is part of the reason why I going through a rebuild now.  Started off as a 1080 based gaming machine in mind, then I wanted more so because of that the rad configuration wouldn't suit what i wanted to do, so in comes new case with more options for rad placements, new mobo, new power supply, open loop conversion, new CPU, and hopefully soon new GPU too.

Hope this helps you figure out what you want to do, but going from air cooling to water even in a AIO for the cpu can be a really big step in thermals.  Just plan for what you are doing in the long term if funds allow and if not how to maximize your purchases so that you wont have to purchase stuff again as you upgrade in the future.

Gotspeed appreciate all the info it has actually helped a lot and I will probably go with the Lian Li but have to like you said look at the Rad placement to make sure.  Thanks again appreciate you taking the time.
