tpf is the time per frame. The time it takes to fold 1%

or if you have hfm already installed, there´s a column or it

Ok heres the lowdown haha. I had that problem so I went to Stanfords guide and tried to follow it. I installed it in C:\User\R3V\FAH

It says to open the cmd so I do that then it says to type install.bat in and it doesnt work for me. I also open up the install.bat file inside the unzipped folder and its has an error 5 message so it did nothing. Do i have to open the install.bay file before opening the exe?

It would help if Stanford and others mentioned the "Run As Administrator" requirement in their instructions.

I believe a reason why they fail to mention it is because some of the guide writers are still using XP and it is not a requirement on it. I had to leave for class before the first frame went in so I dont know how much time elapsed. I will check it when I get back to my computer and not this crappy library one I am at right now. I know that it had run for more that 15 minutes before I left without showing another frame so maybe I have something wrong or my moderately oc'd 920 is to blame.

Looks like it's there to me.

MPICH Configuration

Open the Command Prompt window by clicking on the Start menu then type cmd.exe on the Run box and click on Ok. If you are under Vista, you must run it with the Run as administrator option or you will not have sufficient rights to complete the following steps (to get this, right-click on Command Prompt icon then select Run as administrator). With Windows XP, it's sufficient to run cmd.exe as is.
Here is what it should look under Vista (typed cmd.exe then right-click on it) :

You can use CD to change the directory and type D:\ (or any other letter) to change the drive if the client is not installed on C:\ by default. With those commands, move to the folder you created earlier (C:\FAH in our example). Here's a sample command :

 cd \fah

well there is something wrong because it took 2 and half hours to do 1 percent. I did have to lower my clock down to stock speed because my cooler sucks but it still shouldn't take 2 hours or more. Any ideas fellas?

In HFM, does it say GRO-A3 for Core? If using Windows SMP client and A3, then it sucks. If using VM client with A2 core, then that sounds about right. My TPF for Windows client is 5 minutes.

If you haven't read already, you need to complete 10 of the big projects before you can receive the bonuses.
So far, I see that you've completed 7 work units. Are these all GPU projects? IDK

What command line parameters are you using to run it?  What project is it (look in the log file where it started and it will say Project xxxx (run yy clone zz gen aa)?

Yes in HFM it does say GRO-A3. That is assuming that I have it working correctly and that is a pretty big if. I have the regular target line with  -smp -verbosity 9 -advmethods added at the end. I restarted the client and now the project line reads 6023 (run 0,clone 20,gen75)

Could you please post the contents of your SMP log file, so we can look though and see if there is anything out of the ordinary in there. Thanks.

Let me know if you guys need anymore info. Also could someone give me a really quick and simple explaination about what everything is. For example what is the difference between the regular SMP and VMWare and bigadv. Also the diffference in FAHMON and HFM. Sorry for the hassle but I sure believe it would help me get a handle on this stuff.

Bigadv currently only runs in Linux using an older core application called Core A2. For this reason, Linux in virtualization with 8-core support is the only option at this time for running bigadv in a Windows environment. The bigadv work units have a base point value of 25,403. The work unit are much larger than the SMP2 ones and also require much more time to complete. On average, 2-2.5 days is necessary to complete these work units with an overclocked 920.

Many people like HFM.net because it does the bonus calculation that FahMon does not do. Also, HFM.net has a neat feature for creating a web page of your folding clients and systems.

The only thing I see is that you set it to ask before connecting. I don't think that would make it run slow. Is there a reason you want it to ask before connecting to the internet?

Is your CPU getting close to fully loaded on all cores?

Well I set it that way only for the fact that I have been having my internet connection worked on pretty soon and I just thought it wouldn't be too inconvenient but like yourself I don't think that is what it is. I do have it set to use 100 percent of unused cores but I am not familiar with a way to check the usage. I have Everest but I haven't fooled around with it enough to know if it can monitor the CPU usage.

use process lasso, this way you can set your priorities and see how much your CPU is loaded. I'm at 100% right now

If you go to the control panel and look at the performance information and tools, under advanced tools there is the Resource Monitor. Open this and while running the client look at the various graphs to see if all cores are getting at least 80-90% load.

EDIT: see you got that yourself while I was posting.

tank, was going to point him that way once he gets things running right. I find the affinity and priority is more for maximizing output, not a necessity to get things going at first.

Let it go one or two more steps before you get too happy. It was already part way through a step when you started it. Just making sure you don't get set up for a big fall, always be cautious.

A lot of hope. Looks like it's running fine now.

Now it's time for you to start getting HFM.net running if you haven't yet.

How's the GPU doing? Still purring along?

Just remember if you set HFM to show bonus points, it will show a higher PPD than what you will actually get for a while. You will not be getting bonus until you complete 10 a3 wu with at least 80% of them completed within the bonus time period.

Have you OC'd your GPU or are all clocks stock on it?

I don't think so, I'm getting about the same on my 9800GTX+ that is OC'd a bit. There is a comparison chart I have seen people reference that shows what can be expected from different GPUs based on submissions from other users. Not sure exactly where it is, but it is titled something like The Dude's GPU Folding Chart.
