Looks like a preorder queue unless some actually got to order one. I would  like to get one but really don't need it. Darn the wants... Just wish I could order it bundled with a 3090.

This is how they are doing all the motherboard and high end products now. They only launch them via queue, even if they have stock. Same thing for the X570 Dark and FTW launch. Then when they have more supply than demand, they'll revert back over to regular ordering.

Signed up at 9:36:46 AM PT this morning, came to check on the status and saw the page/notify button were live.

Only reservations are regarding RAM support, do we have a QVL for the Classified yet?

they haven't linked the manual yet but it will be here when they release it. The currently released ddr5 will 100% be compatible with this motherboard because it is much lower spec than future ddr5. This is pretty typical for a new memory generation launch. They release the slower ram first and then incrementally release faster ram for overclocking.

you have to be logged in to sign up for auto-notify on the product page.
but you also need to be an evga elite member to sign up for the queue within the first 24 hours.
Soo come back tomorrow at around 9am PST, login to your account, and then go to the product page and you should be able to get in the queue

Anyone planning to go with a 12700k?  The tests I've seen put it only 2% behind the 12900k, for $200+ less.

Or is the thinking that with a $600+ MB, why not go all the way.

I have the 12900kf sitting in a box. I don’t want to have to worry about touching the system for at least 5-6 years.

LOL Ok let me rephrase that...I don't want to worry about replacing the motherboard and CPU for another 5-6 years on THIS specific PC.    I'm always playing with some PC.  My Z68 system has lasted me this long.  2020 was the year that made me realize my overclocked 3770 can't keep up with an RTX card.  So I chugged along till Alder Lake came out.  And so here I am trying to stay loyal to EVGA.

Ha Ha, I sit here typing on my I5-2500k and Asus Sabertooth P67 motherboard built in April 2011. In 2016 I built my first full on gaming rig. Replaced it two years later, then again last year and now replaced again.  So one foot in the leave it be camp and one in the upgrade until you have something shiny and new to play games on.

With that said, my 11 year old system is showing its age. So my previous game rig is being updated to replace it. One I9-12900k on an EVGA Z690 board with a EVGA 1080 Ti FTW3 Ultra and the other with an I7-12700k on a MSI Z690 Carbon and EVGA RTX 3060 ti.

Yeah I hear you.....the only original parts from a "Monster Build" in 2014 are my Watercooling components....still using all of it just chnaged out pump once and of course tubing every few years.

Now my Corsaor 900D is defintely showing its age as no front panel USB 3 Type C and now my new Apex Board has no AC97 Sound header......so at some point will have to think about changing out case !!

My 9900K build was Dec 2018....this 12900K exactly 3 yrs later.....prior to 9900K was a 3930K X79 Rampage IV Extreme build...around 2014 I think......I do chnage out GPU's fairly regular...usually skip one generation...as in 780Ti (skip 980) 1080Ti (skip 20xx) now 3080Ti.....prior to 780Ti I never skipped a gen as every new gen was a huge improvement.

It's been almost 7 years since I've done a full build, so I know what you mean. So excited to get started on it. Just need things to be in stock!!!

Sounds like even if I figure it out, I won't get it for a very long time. Shouldn't have bothered waiting for evga. If I get one, it'll be when a new cpu is available.

Does anyone have other recommendations? The only motherboard I've ever actually liked is my OLD evga classified. I think it was for the first gen i series.

Since then I've bought a number of asus boards, all garbage. They release their products and never update the firmware or drivers, even to patch chip issues where all they have to do is re-release it. It's like buying an iPhone and Apple saying it's too old to receive updates even though a new one isn't out yet. Asus is a garbage company.

Thinking of looking at MSI lineup, but idk. Never owned one.

This z690 classified i just received will be my 1st EVGA mobo. 5 1/2 years ago, after my last build; i promised myself to go with an EVGA mobo on next build. (their 24/7 phone support made as big an impression on me as anything at the time. but more than a dozen other things impress me too.)

How well does EVGA do with their firmware and drivers updates?

Re: Introducing the EVGA Z690 Motherboards - The Ultimate Choice for PC Gaming 2022/01/23 06:31:07 (permalink)
Back when I had mine, it seemed like if anything was slightly amiss, I'd find out there was an update that fixes or improved it. That was a long long time ago mind you.

I've been going to all of the websites for the motherboard manufacturers and looking at the updates for their flagship models of the z590 to see which companies have been releasing updates. Evga last released a bios update in December with repackaged drivers from May. So the bios was at least very recent.

As far as drivers... I wonder how much these manufacturers are just releasing generic drivers these days so they don't have to maintain them. It used to be the case that they'd repackage them with a different version number from the generic driver so that even if you got your hands on the generic, they wouldn't install because "a newer version is already installed" even though the version was really old and you'd have to delete the mobo driver and hope the generic driver detected the hardware properly on install.
If they're generic by default these days, windows probably keeps them up to date, so all you'd need to worry about is bios and software updates.

🤔

I have a massive cooling system that never seems to need to bother with spinning up any fans. I can't wait to get into overclocking alder lake to see how it can handle their heat.

It looks like the button is gone. They must have enough people in the queue already to fulfill all the boards they know they're getting for now. If they get more, they'll turn the notify button back on, but I have no idea when or if they'll announce that before it just quietly goes active again.

I plan to go with a Lian Li 011 Dynamic Evo in reverse. Gonna do my first water cooled (processor only) build. Running my current build the 12900k gets too hot under load for air cooling. I am quite happy with my Fractal Torrent but Its just not a good case for water cooling. I will just use it in my new 12700k build.

I know the Fractal Torrent isn't the ideal water cooling case, but you can put a huge rad in front and one on the bottom as well.  There are some good options for reservoirs that would work.  What is it that makes you not want to use it for water cooling?   Asking because that case was what I had planned for my next build.

Looks like life kept me from checking back in on this for too long and I missed out.  Does anyone know how long we will have to wait for more Classifieds to make it to market?

I wonder how much the Dark will cost considering the price of the classified. Is it going to be another $1000+ z690? Not that you'd be able to get your hands on one if it was reasonably priced due to stock issues.

I'm pretty sure its going to be about 100 dollars more than the z690 classified. In other words roughly 729 plus tax? And I bet those with deep pockets will think nothing of it as chump change and place an order. I'm more on the fence on that one! 🤔
