The limiter is not mandatory by nvidia. It is up to each manufacturer whether or not to have it. Founder edition cards will not have the limiter according to several reports.

I'm quite disappointed in the MSRP from Nvidia. They are really squeezing every penny out of gamers right now. The 3080 Ti will only be about 10-15% faster than the 3080 yet will cost $500 more? That's a horrible cost-to-performance ratio.

Agreed. Which is why no one mentions prices of their AIB gpu's until the last second. They don't want the prices and word of mouth to scare off frugal buyers..

I just hope to get one, been looking real hard at the 6900XT due to availability and the fact that they aren't being marked up as much. I figured I'd wait to see if I can snag one of these via the Elite channel, but if I cant, goodbye EVGA & Nvidia as a whole. My 2080TI FE has been nothing but problems (High Temps), so if I cant get an EVGA I'm saying goodbye to Nvidia...

I'm actually happy that they are charging a higher price than expected. It will scare off potential customers who believed it was going to sell for $1000 lol.

Anyway yeah, 1200-1500 is a lot for the card, boys, Nvidia went totally rogue IMO, and AMD can't compensate due to scalpers' efforts.. In theory, AMD will have a launch sometime in the future, and maybe EVGA could apply the same system too.
