Can anyone tell me what the real difference between the XC and XC Black is?

XC Black definitely does not have a backplate while the regular XC does.
The XC model will probably also have slightly higher clocks.

So the XC is basically the better option of the two??

If it's anything like the other series, EVGA will ignore the Black model entirely and only manufacture the more expensive XC model.

If you're trying to get one of these cards, you should queue for *ALL* models and buy the first one that comes up.  I don't think EVGA has even passed September 17th of their 3080 XC3 Black queue.

I assumed so. I check multiple times a day for the que on these to start.

How do I queue for all models?  I only see where you pick a certain model and get on the list.
Thank you in advance!

You have to go to each model you're interested in separate and click the notify button. There is no way to just sign up for all as a bulk.

You have to go to the item on the website and click auto notify, then when a card is reserved you then you'll receive an email from evga saying your gpu is reserved and you will have 8 hours to make your purchase. If you don't purchase that gpu will go back into the queue system for the next buyer. Other than this you just take your chance on retailer websites or ebay for the scalpers.

@sparetimepc Thx for your answer. But i can´t pre-order the 3060 or where is the button for this? Can´t find the card in the shop yet, only the 3060Ti, but this card i don´t want to buy.

Or do I have to wait till the 3060 is in the shop too, before i can pre order?

Yes you have to wait till it's even available before you can click auto notify. It's gonna be a long wait though I can pretty much guarantee that.

Im just wandering whether this release will be something like out of stock instantly and a queue to sign up for or will there be actual cards being sold "first come, first serve" upon the release?

when signups are going to be opened, how will we be able to sign up for a queue? will it just be a forum that we reply to or someone we email? or something else.

It’s spelled out quite a few times just above your post. Please take a second to scroll up.

Feb. 25th rumored release date. I highly suggest hopping back on here and religiously watching for the "add to waitlist" buttons to appear on that day. Perhaps even slightly before. Will be nice to have a lower-midrange card with new gen tech.

I have multiple Distill alerts running on various 3060 related pages, I will make a post here a few seconds after the pages go live (after I queue myself of course) for all the lazy people.

Nope. Hence the post above mentioning the rumored Feb. 25th release date. Could EVGA start their waitlist before the official release date? Sure, but that's anybody's guess as to when.

For what it's worth, the 3060 Ti pages appeared when the review embargos lifted (December 1st, 9:00 AM EST), precisely 24 hours before release date (December 2nd, 9:00 AM EST).
So it's safe to assume the 3060 queue will start when the reviews go up.

If anyone could find the model numbers of the 3060's prior to release -- that would be extremely helpful.  As of right now I've used the existing 30 series models combined with the 1660/Ti models, to make a guess.  But it's hard to know.

Yes, as long as you assume the correct position.

I don't feel like reading every single post just to make sure someone else has not corrected this misconception that 12GB is 'for the miners'.  Just like with gaming, in mining, you either have enough VRAM or you do not.  Actually - it's worse because mining programs until very recently and only with Polaris (RX 470 thru 590) 4GB cards; the software required everything to be in VRAM and could not spill over into system RAM like with a game.  For mining, just like with high resolution gaming, it is about the memory performance and not the capacity.  Nvidia likely went with 12GB of VRAM just because of the misconception that more VRAM = faster and they did not want to offer the 3060 with only 6GB while AMD had 12GB even though at the market segment served by this class of card 6GB is very likely plenty.  IMO by the time you start utilizing more than 6GB of VRAM, the compute capabilities or memory bandwidth of this class of card are likely to be what is holding it back and you'd be looking to upgrade or turning down graphical settings anyway.
And to anyone that is going to try to reply "but the DAG will get bigger than 6GB so they did it for that"...  The Ethereum DAG file will never hit 6GB.  They plan to go proof of stake (meaning no more mining Ethereum) long before that.  It likely won't even reach 5GB before that happens.

While you're right about the misconception that more VRAM = faster (completely incorrect of course), there is a case for always having more VRAM. You could load up ultra textures on everything, because textures have 0 effect on performance, only VRAM. That alone is worth the extra memory, as it has a great deal of impact on image quality.

Re: Introducing EVGA RTX 3060 12GB Built for Gamers 2021/02/13 09:27:16 (permalink)
I don't think this card needs 12 GB but I think we can all agree the 3070 and 3080 are both powerful enough to utilize more than 8 GB and 10 GB.  This card is also capable of utilizing more than 6 GB, which is the alternative on a 192-bit bus...  If Nvidia had put 6 GB on here, people would be complaining about the lack of VRAM.

If you have a choice between probably too much VRAM or probably not enough VRAM, you'll always want to go with more.  The issue is not that the 3060 has too much VRAM, the issue is that the 3060 Ti, 3070, and 3080 don't have enough.

Yes, but now that we know the time, we can try harder to make sure we are there right when they hit so we are among the first fulfilled. The 3060ti's are making great progress on the queue, and folks that signed up within that first hour or two are happily ordering or already using their trusty new 3060ti's. Call it a game, if you wish, and feel free to not play, but some of us will treat it like an "appointment" instead, so we won't have to wait so long for our cards!

Firstly, it depends on your position in the queue. Obviously the quicker you sign up on the launch day previously mentioned, the sooner you will get your notify. Once you receive your notify by email, assuming you're a human customer, you'll have 8 hours to click on your special link in your email and place your order on your card. Good luck!

I just pre-ordered the EVGA RTX 3060 XC 12GB on amazon. There were over 30+ available and only lasted a minute.
