Hoping this will be added to the step-up list! It will all boil down to the 3060 or 3060 TI for me. Thankful I was able to secure a 1660 TI recently! Anyone else out there also looking to step-up?

I'm constantly searching graphics cards for academic deep learning projects for my students. Appereanlty what we got is only advertisements.. I have an very old gtx 1060, could not even find cheap cards like rx560 so i could pull that from my system and use it research.

For academic deep learning projects, I'm afraid you must stick with Nvidia GPUs because popular frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch only support CUDA acceleration. AMD GPU like RX560 will not meet your requirement. At least not now. Future who knows.

The prices in EVGA's store went up 10-15% depending on card.
I'm guessing the 3060 will start at $370 or $380.

SO  nvidia spent months telling us all how 10 gigs was enough for most all of the cards  - along with all the reviewers saying the same thing.... & now they release the lowest end card w/ 12 gigs !?!?

THis gen release of  30xx series cards has made absolutely NO sense so far....

I can assume the new 3070, 3080 cards with increased memory count  will be announced soon too ?? - SUPER- Ti  or whatever ...

LoL funny right, really with todays games 8gigs barely gets you by, 10gigs is a little better 12gigs plus is a nice comfort zone with the eye candy cranked up and depending on your resolution... Sadly this card does not have the GPU chip to really pump it up.

As of right now nvidia has canned the TI cards for the 3080 and Imagine if there was a plan as well for the 3070 and 3090 those are out the window too. Got to divert most of that manufacturing for the Geforce now serves man.

Nvidia did respond to this in the subreddit q&a.

Q: Isn’t it weird that the RTX 3060 has 12GB of memory, yet the RTX 3080 has only 10GB? (Formerly “Why release a RTX 3060 that has more VRAM than a RTX 3080”)
[Justin/Qi] Not really. 3060 has 12GB of graphics memory because it’s memory width is 192-bit – which means the GPUs can be equipped with either 6GB or 12GB – we chose 12GB because it gives the 3060 the best balance between capabilities and price.
However, there is more to these products than the size of the graphics memory. Memory speed and memory width impacts gaming performance (and memory bandwidth). RTX 3080 is 320-bit and GDDR6X (at 19 Gbps), delivering 760GB/s of bandwidth. 3060 is 192-bit and GDDR6 (at 15 Gbps), delivering 360GB/s of bandwidth. 3080 has more than 2X the memory bandwidth, along with a much higher performing GPU.

10GB is enough because NVIDIA says it's enough is the simple answer. No publisher is going to release a game that uses more then what the 3080 has for memory since then the game will run poorly and get completely trashed online by every reviewer. Now if a new version of the 3070 or 3080 did come out like a Super or Ti then you run into the people who still have a 3080 they bought recently and is the current generation who expect that it will run games perfectly at the Ultra settings.

Greetings,
Any update on when EVGA will create a queue for these GPUs?  Also, will we be allowed more than one per household?

Thanks

While I don't know what the plans are I would assume a queue will exist since people have been happy with it for the other cards and I would also assume that they will limit it to one per household per product. That means if you needed more then one you could get another one in the product line.

The performance looks close to a 2070 Super maybe? Clocks are similar, higher CUDA cores, obviously more memory, but less bandwidth (if rumored specs are correct). Sadly still no blower style shrouds - you don't want all that heat going into the case with mini-ITX SFF builds.

Most likely close to 2070(2060S), 27% less cores and 25% less bandwidth than 3060Ti. Most likely 25% less power than 3060Ti. Which puts it slightly above 2070 and 2060S

Nvidia's benchmark showed it more or less in 2060S/2070 territory.  It would be a miracle if it even comes close to the 2070S.  We are only talking about ~10% performance, though.

It is not out of stock.  It hasn't been released yet.  The article that was linked is a "hey look what's coming" article, but the 3060 has not appeared in the EVGA store yet.  When it does, it's going to look like it's out of stock because of the queue system, but it [uh.... hopefully] won't be.  Just hit the auto-notify button when it appears in the store, which will reserve one for you and put you in the queue to be able to purchase one.  EVGA will then email you when you get to the front of the line, at which point you'll have eight hours to purchase the card before it defaults to the next person in line.

Nice, hopefully I can get my hands on one of these cards when they come out. Would be interesting to see what 12 gigs is capable of on the 3060.

Sad part is that for us normal folk, it will be OUT OF STOCK immediately!!! I check everyday for it to be ready to get in the que and I don't have a warm fuzzy about that as well.

I think that might be the difference. The XC definitely will have one, I am just not sure about the XC Black.

XC Black definitely does not have a backplate while the regular XC does.
The XC model will probably also have slightly higher clocks.

So the XC is basically the better option of the two??

So how is EVGA surviving?  No GPU's, No motherboards (current) no Power supplies!  I've had notifies on 3 different RTX3080 cards since Sept 19th thats over 4 months with no product to sell!  I hope they survive this drought of components

So another set of queues that will not be filled.

EVGA needs to just say certain cards will not be made and kill the queue or merge with another one.

The marketing folks should have been docked for making 8 different cards of each type when they could not build enough to fill 1 SKU.
But they are never at fault no matter how badly they do things.

EVGA depend on NVidia for their supply. You're directing your angst at the wrong company.
