They didn't even give BIOS for my ex motherboard Rampage V Extreme.
Only for Rampage V Edition 10. That's not final word. They will launch very soon and for other motherboards.
But I don't see BIOS on ASUS pages yet. Only previous versions.

I will not patch my system. And I afraid people are not aware what they do.
I know Intel hide truth about performance decrease. Over time they will need to patch systems more and more and that would be like installing steel plates on car, roof, top, door without increasing power on engine. People would not recognize their computers. Because of that one by one patch. With Windows Update, with BIOS, with scripts, etc...
You will change and update next weeks without stop.

Old Windows 7 and Windows 8 machines will be the most impacted

Nothing like an opportunistic Windows 10 promotion.

Re: Intel: Serious Vulnerability Speculation in all CPUs 2018/01/10 14:40:12 (permalink)
I will demand compensation from Intel, and advice that from you.
I have nothing with their decision, I can't force them to do that, but just to know what I should do in future.

We invest a lot in our computers. Last 20 years our purchases depend of slightest performance difference.
Sometimes we payed 100$ more for 5-10% difference or only because we like some product and because is designed better.
Now suddenly performance loss. No one of Mercedes owners would like to their car suddenly get characteristics of Volkswagen.
I reinstall patch and my results is immediately improved but not as before patch and probably will not be before I revert Windows 10 to 1607 mode July 2016 or 1703 March 2017.

As I post Image Editing was 196.000, after patch update he was 136.000, next day after some new Windows updates he drop to 122.00 and that's not one run.
That's few runs and after reboot to confirm result. After I uninstall patch results back on 158.000. But still is not as before. I never had less than 194.000 in Real Bench 2.54 Image Editing.

This change everything. Intel owners should prepare to AMD owners replace them on Benchmark tabel. Because weaker CPU for 10% without bug now is faster than CPU with bug.
Some people simply can't deal that their processors have security bug, I talk with a lot owners i7-5960X, i7-6700K, i7-8700K, i7-7820X... all of them wait to see Intel reaction to switch to AMD.
But this time Intel will not revert them with lower prices, and more performance.
Intel will be remembered as company who screw customers so badly that IT industry never experienced something like that.
All bigger companies confirm that customers don't deserve this.
Because Intel continue to advertise their Coffee Lake and Kaby Lake and other models who can't work on Windows 7 and need to be faced with performace loss he would lost cases for leading customers in fallacy and manipulate with them aware of bug. That's insane ammount of money they will need to pay. That's single or two digit number with 9 zeros.

They live in some kind of imagination that 20-30% lower price for new generation with newer motherboards is compensation for people.
Why some people to change X99 or X299 or Z270. Someone paid 2700$ for i9-7980XE and Rampage VI Extreme for him 20% of new generation or half price of new procesor is joke.
Intel need to think how to back same performance and provide secure PC to customers without single dollar of investment of customers. Nothing else.
Instead of that they continue to lie people about AMD processors and maybe we finaly get answer why they had so much advantage. For last years Intel profit so much money from their new chipsets every 10 months and their processor with same performance that should tell people to wait new generation without bug and give processors to everyone with
Z87 Z97 Z170 Z270 Z370 X99 X299. Owners of these chipsets and compatible processors should get new, brand new processors with same number of cores they had and to ask for forgivness because we don't ask mobo with their chipset. Because someone people as me have motherboards and always go on motherboards with same price as CPU.
We didn't used on 120$ motherboards.

Intel news release discussing performance impacts.

https://newsroom.intel.com/editorials/intel-security-issue-update-initial-performance-data-results-client-systems/

Interesting that they said graphics intensive workloads, such as gaming have minimal impact.  Looks like they are using 3DMark Sky Diver results for that statement.  Seems pretty limited.  I would like to see a portfolio of games tested, similar to what we typically see when a Gfx card or CPU is released.

"Haswell and earlier CPUs will be hardest hit." - PCGamer

The short story is that Intel is claiming a 6 percent performance hit or less on 8th generation Core processors when paired with a solid state drive, while Microsoft says the performance impact is significant on Haswell and older CPUs. You can read more about it here.

If your BIOS doesn't get an update though, it seems like the fixes don't really get enabled.  My Z97 isn't getting a update, and I haven't seen any effect at least in 3dMark stuff yet though I have the Win10 update and Nvidia driver updates that include the fixes.

After patch KB4056892 my entire system has gone retarded. Every once and again it wouldn't even shut down. Uninstalled that pos until they get it right.
