Back.  "Enable VMD Controller" is set to 'Disabled'.

So,...here's the thing.  If I hadn't installed HWINFO64, I'd not even know there was an issue.  I don't notice any problems when I running apps.

I think I may table this for the rest of the day.  You have been more than helpful...on your Saturday.  You as well, Sajin.

Needless to say, I'm not sure what is going on...or why my BIOS would be an issue where I may need the "beta bios",...but I will look in to this I suppose.

On taking screen shots in BIOS, isn't it just F12?

Thanks guys.

not sure where the SS is saved though. Searching "F12" in manual doesn't find anything.

I'm just gonna say that I'm kind of.....'upset'....I suppose at all this.  It concerns me...mostly that maybe I didn't do something exactly right.  There is so much to setting these up right.

Again, I don't notice any issues at all when I'm using the computer.  So very weird....  :-(

Re: Initial Bios Test. What do these numbers mean? 2022/06/19 06:02:13 (permalink)
Hi Raven. I've been out of town so I didn't see all this. I don't think you did anything wrong, but the whea errors sometimes happen with the default bios, which is why EVGA is working on a fix and they've been testing it with folks by giving them a beta BIOS. I had this issue on my board too. It doesn't really cause problems as far as I know, but it reports problems to Windows, which HWiNFO is telling you about. That piece of software cna be a very helpful tool for looking at temperatures of things, voltages, etc., but you're right that it's a LOT of information and cna take a while to process. I'd give you a general word of caution: don't panic. There's always a phase in the beginning where you're trying to get all the hardware to play nice together, but once you're there (and it does sound like you're just about there) you can just enjoy the computer and get some games in or do whatever it is you bought it for lol.

I think the bios update is a good idea for you, so I'd reach out to Lee for that file, per Sajin's link or at least just try the latest release bios (it's in a thread stickied to the top of this forum section and the instructions are in that thread). After that, just enjoy your machine.

Re: Initial Bios Test. What do these numbers mean? 2022/06/19 06:44:11 (permalink)
Thanks for chiming in B0baganoosh.   And I appreciate the "don't panic" advice.  And will look at the latest bios.

I get nervous when I spend as much as I did for all these parts, and something is wrong......and the really weird part about it is,...had I not installed HWiNFO64, I wouldn't have known there was a problem.  But when I saw these errors, I was thinking I had done something wrong [being that it is my first PC build], and didn't install something before installing something else [if you know what I mean].  Some driver that should have been done first....or even an unknown driver I didn't get installed.  But if you had this issue as well and it probably being the bios thing, maybe I can relax about all this more.

An odd thing that happened after I got off with the others on this thread.  My nephew [who was the one who got me into gaming and to getting a new PC], came over and had me install GeForce Experience.  Okay.  Done.  Then there was an update for the driver,...so he had me do that.  But when the restart happened,...I got a black screen on both monitors.  I had to hit the reset switch, then the monitors got signal.   Thought it was a mere momentary glitch.

But this morning, when I turned the PC on,...again the monitors got no signal.  I had to hit the reset, went to the bios first, changed nothing, exited bios, then they got signal.  Not sure if that updated driver is messing things up...but obviously it is working since I'm able to type this.

Something I did notice in bios that I was wondering about.  I have two NVMe drives in the first and second slots.  In bios, is says this:
PE1 - x16 Gen4
PE2 - Not Present
PE3 - Not Present

Shouldn't there be something in PE2, or am I misunderstanding something?  I go to File Explorer and the second drive is there and working.

Also, I was to have "CSM Support" set to "Disabled", correct?

Oh,....and for some unknown reason....Precision X1 is working today when it wasn't yesterday.
BTW,...if I had to get that new bios [or the beta bios], would that mean I'd have to reinstall everything I've installed?  Sorry if this is a total 'noob' question.

Re: Initial Bios Test. What do these numbers mean? 2022/06/19 08:24:25 (permalink)
PE1-3 are pcie slots (what you have your video card in, not your m.2 drives) so that looks perfect. CSM disabled, yes. With Resizeable BAR enabled.

Also, no, you won't have to reinstall anything in Windows, but when you update your bios it will wipe your bios settings. Before you update (I think I had mentioned this in my first guide post, but that was a few pages ago lol), you can export your settings to the USB drive. That way, after you update the bios, you can import those settings back from the USB drive.

Okay, sounds good...because I have a few games already installed and my nephew is coming over to put on a bunch of mods.    Will make the game much nicer looking.  And I'd hate to have to reinstall all those.

So I'll export the bios to a flash drive before doing any updating.  Thanks!

B0baganoosh to the rescue too. TY!

B0baganoosh, so it's OK for RAVENEVGA to ignore the WHEA errors for a little while?

In case anyone needs USB Flash Drives...

...last February when I bought my z690 Classified, I was down to 3 Flash Drives; so I shopped for them in case I ever needed more for this build. What I concluded was best is:

16GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive 10 Pack, FEWINA Multipack USB Drive 3.0 16 GB, Memory Stick 16GB 3.0, 16 Gig USB Drive, Jump Drives, Zip Drive Pen Drive for Data Storage (Hard Flash Drive Case + 10 Lanyards)

--3.0 (Not 2.0)
--16GB (Versus 4GB or 8GB- seems wise. Makes them more versatile.)
--Case
--Lanyards (less likely to drop one behind my desk.)
--Colors (Means skipping labels in short term.)
--Cost (Isn't great but not bad.)

Edit: Just Ordered.

And also got a 2nd Case:  Flash Drive Case USB Storage Case

Yeah, it's been a common issue for a bunch of people. He posted the Dark bios. They might have a similar Classified bios. Other than an annoyance in hwinfo or if you look in the system error messages log, it usually doesn't cause any problems as far as I could tell when I was experiencing it.

With B0baganoosh, Sajin, and Lee we can master BIOS Flashing on an EVGA z60 Classified MOBO. Plus there's always EVGA's awesome Phone Support. I called them a few weeks ago before using PrecisionX1 to flash may vBIOS and covered all my bases. I wanted to have Resizable Bar working.

If you ever want to know Resizable Bar is configured:
Open NVCP (nVidia Control Panel); Click Lower Left on "System Information"; brings up "System Information" Window with many details including: "Resizable Bar: YES".)

Yup....the "Resizable Bar" is set to "Yes".

I have greatly appreciated everyone of your replies.  And especially about this WHEA errors thing.

Now there are just a few more things to do.  Like, right now, Firefox no longer working...saying vcruntime140_1.dll wasn't found.  It looks like I would have to install Directx 11.

Also, am I needing to install Microsoft Visual C++?  My nephew was saying something about needing 2008 and 2015-2019.

Cool.

i researched FF issue yesterday and the prob ur having is common. Not out of the ordinary.

Search the Net or better yet, lol search on ElevenForums Tutorials section for:
"FireFox vcruntime140_1.dll wasn't found".

And remember that searching Youtube for it too, is also advisable. All comes down to ur personal preferences.

Edit: Ever have a prob with Windows and i guarantee so many others u can't count- are too.

Edit 2:
MB for: "FireFox vcruntime140_1.dll wasn't found"; search just the main site: https://www.elevenforum.com/ the Tutorials section wouldn't have a solution.

Win11 Download Microsoft Visual C++

i think that the newerest lol includes the previous years within them but I'm not positive. U may have to search for them specifically. But using "Win11" is an old habit. Easy and fast to type.

I saw a video where someone was saying to download both X86 and X64.  Seemed to fix the Firefox issue.  I may do that soon.  I've just been running Chrome in the time being.

After a little while, in a long long time -- far far away, Macrium Reflect Software (Free Personal Version) will allow you to make Images and Data backups like a Professional does.

The following Vid explains it:
Easy System Backup Clone Or Disk Imaging With Macrium Free

Maybe as early as a couple months you can start in on it.

I used very similar Software and made Images at each step of my Operation System's installation. And once my OS was all properly configured; I followed a backup strategy similar to Network Admins: A Monthly/ Daily of Image backups and of Image Data backups.

An Image of an Entire Drive is a single file that can be used to Restore a Drive just like when it was made. (An Image, as in a Mirror.)

Data is Data. When a Data Image is restored, just the Files and Folders are same as when created. So a Data Backup Image, would be for say just the contents of one's "My Documents" folder.

In as little as 10 minuets my PC could be back to just like it was when booting for the 1st time into Windows. Or just like it was at 7:08 AM today. Or any day from the time I built it last February. Because the backups are made in less than 10 minuets everyday -- 1st thing after starting and Booting into Windows.

The freedom it allows you, to experiment without fear, is priceless. Been doing it for 23 years.

For the WHEA issues, you can try this test BIOS:

Not sure which of the files I should choose from.  Not sure how much of this thread you have seen, but I'm a noob when it comes to PC building.

Use the file Lee linked above, but use the directions here: https://forums.evga.com/FindPost/3550295

Just make sure you don't reboot or turn off the computer in the middle of the update.

I had suggested in a previous post in this thread that they can export the current profile/settings to a USB drive. That way after they follow the instructions (which include applying default settings), they can then import their profile from the USB drive and save redoing all the settings manually.

I did see one report of that. Not sure it happens every time, as most have suggested I do the same. Another thing I've done is take pictures of every screen with my phone. F12 will take a beautiful screenshot to the USB drive, but you can't look at those from the computer you're in the BIOS with (as far as I know), so sometimes just doing pictures with the phone is a quick way to make sure I don't forget what I had set.

yes turns out wat i saw was a reference to a Memory profile not working- and nothing to do with a BIOS profile. mb

knowing BIOS profiles will work on any BIOS version is important. TY

I did save my current bios to a flash drive.

I'll see about doing this process soon.  I've got some things I'm currently trying to get done.

One weird thing happened last night.  I was playing a Roblox game [World Zero], and in the middle of a level, the entire system froze...and didn't unfreeze.  I had to eventually click the reset button....then when it came back up, it ran smoothly.  Weird glitch?
