looks like there is no way to get this big radiator to fit this case. what a PITA this case has been might as well order the 360, so much for building this unit this weekend

I'd recommend getting a different case, like a Lian Li 011 that is built around cooling loops. I have 3 360mm rads in mine, kinda wish I went with the XL version that can handle 420mm rads.

I love a good 420mm rad. I wish more cases fit them. The sound from 140mm fans is so much more pleasant than 120mm fans.
So whatever you end up going with, I'd suggest cool air intake and setting up radiators to exhaust if you can. Especially if you're going with an aio for the cpu and air for the gpu. That way you're not feeding the gpu with hot cpu air and you're hopefully bringing in enough cool air to feed both cpu and gpu. Also, if you have more intake pressure than exhaust pressure, you end up with positive pressure and it forces air out of all vent holes, minimizing dust in the system.
Sorry if this is all stuff you already know, but you asked for tips :-p

The 7000D is a good case with a decent price that can fit a 420 or even a 480 rad.

I've had one and it is a great big case. Heavy and sturdy and it can also handle a 420 rad and up to a 480 rad. You can put a lot of fans in that case. I think I had about 16 fans in that thing.
