Windows Installation

• Download the correct .zip file below for your motherboard:        

         121-AL-E699-KR - EVGA Z690 DARK K|NGP|N - v1.10

• First go into your BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
• Close all open programs.
• Go into the folder where you unzipped this package and double-click update.bat
• Press Y to start the flash process
• DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR RESET DURING THE FLASH PROCESS
• After the flashing is finished, the system will automatically shut down. Then power on again and go into BIOS to setup.
• NOTE: If flash box immediately closes after flash attempt, the flash may need to be ran from a CMD prompt with administrator privileges or DOS version.

  
BIOS Installation

• Extract the contents of .zip file to USB flash drive (must be formatted as FAT32)
• Reboot the machine and go into the system BIOS
• From the BIOS, navigate to the Save & Exit tab and open "Select BIOS File."
• Select the .bin file you wish to flash.

Quick feedback on the new bios. I updated to bios v1.10 this morning, cleared the BIOS, loaded optimized defaults, and then loaded the XMP profile on the g.skill 6600 kit. It just finished stability testing and passed without any errors (HCI memtest 500%+, TM5 extreme1 anta777, Y-cruncher 2.5B).
 
Also, I am not getting any Event 17 or any other WHEA errors. 
 

nice! curious what the XMP voltages look like for the 6600 kit? do you mind sharing? did you load the chipset or other drivers once you updated to 1.10?

What voltages are you looking for?
 
Mem VDD was set to 1.4v by the XMP profile. It appears everything else remains on Auto. So Mem VDDQ, and VDD2 will match Mem VDD of 1.4v, CPU VDDQ (VDDQ TX) was left auto so 1.1v. SA was left auto, which on my CPU is 0.943v (each CPU will be a little different).

For imgur, you need to open the image in a new tab to get the .png or .jpg link, and use that for the image to show up.  Then you can wrap the image with a link to the main url for the image, if you wish.

thanks for sharing the VDD, just curious as the XMP voltage did not seem to work for the guy in the other thread, but it seems like he's maybe got a bad dimm slot on that board

Hey, FYI, I had to roll back to 1.09.

None of my memory profiles (recreated, not loaded from usb) were stable. I also noticed that men vddq behavior has changed, “auto” no longer syncs with mem Vdd and has to be set manually.

I also had a harder time booting 1T profiles in general.

I think I found a bug in Bios 1.10 
 
System:
 
Z690 Dark KP
12000KS
G.skill 6600 memory
 
Steps to reproduce:
 
1.) Clear CMOS and load defaults
2.) Set CPU P and E core ratio control to per core limit, leave at all stock values.
3.) Go into v/f control, set the highest point (5.5ghz on the 12900KS) to any negative value, such as -10.
4.) Save and exit. 
 
The board fails to post. It will sometimes rapidly reboot a few times before it boots to a code 04 on the diagnostic LED, others it will immediately fail to post and display a code 04. Hitting the safe boot button will bring you back into the bios. Clear the negative value from the V/F control menu, safe and exit, Board will post normally. 
 
Notes:
 

• Placing negative values in any of the other v/f points does not result in the same behavior, only the highest v/f point. 
• I had the board reboot and display a code 00 during one test. powering off via the power button resulted in immediately posting back to a 00. Pressing the safe boot button, and clear cmos buttons did not result in a normal post, the board still immediately displayed code 00. To resolve I had to completely power down the board (turn off power supply) for 30 seconds, push the power button to ensure all the caps were completely depleted, then power the board up. It then posted normally with the cleared CMOS
• I confirmed that the boot to code 04 behavior when a negative value exists in the top v/f point also exists in Bios 1.09.

As it turns out, not a bug, but an Intel limitation based on the Intel VF Curve rule for VF Points 7 through 11.  Since Points 7-11 share the same ratio (which is why only 7 is shown), one cannot be lower than the next, which is why it cannot be set to a negative value.

Haven't tested myself, but the behavior is the same on Asus. You must lower whatever the previous point is (I'm this case, would be point 6 if 7-11 are all the same). This would cascade down the points following the same rule.

I am also having the whea 17 issue on a brand new (newest batch) z690 dark. It seems a bios update/fix is needed for those that suffer from the issue (as has been shown for previous EVGA motherboards (z590 ftw for example) and other z690 manufacturers).

Seems to be directly related to PEG - ASPM (and other ASPM settings) being enabled for link power management. Affects the top PCIE slot.

If you could please pass this onto the bios team and have them either allow user ASPM setting changed in bios or disable PEG - ASPM at a bios level, many who will run into the issue will be grateful.

We are currently looking into this.  A beta BIOS we provided to joneffingvo did not resolve his issues, so we are still working on it.

Can you elaborate on this a bit?

I can set all the other points to a neg value to lower vid, except the last one.

So I can set -50 on all but the last point, but if I set the last point to any neg value the board won’t post. On my apex this behavior is not present and you can set the last point to a negative value, further you can set the last V/F point to a negative value in XTU.

FYI, my system would not POST with 1.10; resetting every few seconds.

Board: Z690 Classified
CPU: 12900KS
RAM: 4x32GB Crucial DDR5 module (XMP Profile 2)
GPU: EVGA 2080TI

Also have a 10GTek 2x10GB SFP+ NIC and a Startech 2x800 Firewire Card installed.

Box is rack mounted where I couldn't really pull these cards out to test with, but I could access the BIOS switch; switched bios switch to middle position and it POST fine on 1.03 that exists there; was able to locate through this forum version 1.09 as I'd stupidly deleted the files. Flipped BIOS switch over while running Windows and was able to flashed back. So far, no observed issues. I could not get it to flashback in BIOS using same/similar method, FWIW.

I was supplied a new BETA bios and indeed it fixed the WHEA errors
