I am 73 and kinda new to this latest generation psu's and video cards. I just got the 1000x but I am not sure what cable to use and how to connect it to the 3090 card. I know that there was suppose to be a 3 to 1 cable to a 12 pin female but was not in the evga box with the card. Would someone draw me a picture and explain how to do this and what I need so I don't burn up my new computer I am building.

Greets and Best Wishes and Happiest of New Years ahead.. I hope lol.

Your GPU has 3 PCIe 8 pin 12v inputs. All you need to do is connect 3 8 pin PCIe power connections from the PSU, to the GPU. No adapter (better without one) needed.
Your PSU has the required cables in the box.

@Heavyhemi     Thanks. What I have in the box is 3-8pin (solid on one end and on the other end is a 6 and 2 with a siamese twin hanging off of it. lol. Are these the cords. If i plug these in. use the solid on the GPU and the twins for each of the three at the PSU. Seems such a waste but that all i have.   Here's a pic in IMGUR. It has 2 on one end and a solid 8 on the other end.

I would use those three cables, but the split end has to go to the GPU side. Often the pinout is different and going backwards will not work (it will likely also put a short on the PSU).

So you'd hook up one of the twin 6+2 connectors into each 8-pin connector on the GPU. make sure all of those 8 sockets (the 6+2) are fully inserted into the GPU. There's a fair amount of power available in a 3090, so it is generally advisable to use three separate cables for this. That said, there are many people that didn't have 3 cables available with their power supply and thus chose to daisy-chain connections (use two pair of 6+2 connectors from one cable into two of the 8 pin connectors on the GPU, thus running the GPU on two cables only). If the cable quality is good, this shouldn't be a problem at all. If the cable has small wires, you can have some voltage droop, which will put extra strain on the GPU. You said you have three cables, so your best option is to just use all three and tuck the unused connectors from each cable to the side somewhere.

Hey Thanks. I will use the 6/2 at the GPU and using 3 cables with that hideous growth on the side lol. Not sure if I could attached that to an AsiaHorse extension set to get rid of the end of the cable from view? Just need a pcie-3 female with a male on the other end kind of extension?

This has been rather frustrating because Corsair and EVGA don't have telephone support. Really sucks when you spend all this money and you have to go thru so much **** to get help!!

I just found this. I can add this to the end of the pci-e cable with two and attach to GPU so i can hide the hideous cable. What do you think? Will that work.

Don't worry, the new year's wish made it in time! The good news is you likely don't need a special cable. The Corsair HM1000x should have regular 8-pin (PCIe) power cables. Your EVGA 3090 FTW video card also uses these. Look for 3 separate 8-pin PCIe cables coming from your PSU. Ignore the fancy double-headed ones for now. Just plug the single 8-pin ends of these 3 cables directly into the 3 matching 8-pin slots on your video card. Double check everything is secure and you're good to go!
