I like to run Command Prompt in Safe Mode to do System File Check but I got to a screen that I need to input a password so I entered the password I use to login Windows but every time (5x) it told me the password is incorrect.
The Windows login password is still valid I just used it to login of the computer using to start this thread.

What password do I use? Edit: To answer my own question, the password needed was the Microsoft Live account password to login.
What if anything else should I know that I could be doing wrong?

Back story, I have already run sfc /scannow with Command Prompt as administrator with Windows fully running and some things are corrupt but could not be fixed next step is to do the above.
I have one restore point but it is after the last Windows Update that I suspect caused all of my issues.

Thank you for your help in advance.

I used How to Start Windows 10 in Safe Mode with Command Prompt to guide me.
    Till I got to
"At this screen you should press the number 6 key on your keyboard to enter Safe Mode with Command Prompt.
Windows 10 will now boot and you will be presented with the normal login prompt. Enter your password, and you will be brought directly to a Windows Command Prompt rather than the normal Windows desktop as shown below."

I'd try another keyboard, I've had sign-in issues be a bad key that works some of the time

I was using the Lenovo OEM wired USB keyboard and my guess is USB 2.0.
Edit: The keyboard is 100% working.

Never had an issue with that in any Windows release..Start in Safe Mode..Enter into Command Prompt by typing cmd into the run box..Then sfc /scannow..Enter.

Sometimes things don't even need a password and you can just leave it blank/empty and click Continue after selecting the User.

    Just use normal safe mode.

What's that? The mashing F8 after a restart at the Windows logo? Yeah tried that a few times but was unsuccessful but doing it from Settings > Update & security > Recovery worked though.
But to answer my own question, the password needed was the Microsoft Live account password to login.

So I've ran System File Check in both Windows normal (3x) and in safe mode.
The first run fixed a lot of things but also got "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them" and also after the ran in safe mode. I have also ran the DISM tool two times and got Error Code: 605.

I don't know what else to do ... maybe wait until Update Tuesday or longer and hope the next update will replace the broken stuff.
    The system seems stable now.
The Memory Management one was the worst one causing my system drive to pin to 100% activity and freeze the system for a sort time.

Fun times ... fun times indeed.

Edit: By the way how can I use the CBS.log to help me? To me it looks like instructions on how to build a space station.

    Just use normal safe mode.

    What's that?

By the way how can I use the CBS.log to help me?

Select option #4 (Enable safe mode) instead of option #6. (Enable safe mode with command prompt)

The cbs.log can help you track down exactly what the problem is.

For the system file checker error "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them" try the following...

Try running offline system file checker... https://www.thewindowsclub.com/run-system-file-checker-safe-mode-boot-time

For the DISM 605 error try the following...

Insert your installation CD. From Command Prompt (Admin), run:

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:X:\sources\install.wim:1 /limitaccess
NOTE: Replace X with the drive letter pointing to the installation CD

If you continue to have issues.... try Reset This PC or Fresh Start

Just a quick reply, I do not have an installation CD but I do have a repair disk for Windows 10 64 bit I made last year?

I may get back to trying fix my system in a couple hours.

As long as the repair disk has the install.wim file on it you can use it.

If the repair disk doesn't have an install.wim file on it you can use the media creation tool to create installation media on a usb flash drive then run the following command via command prompt (admin)...

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:esd:X:\sources\install.esd:1 /limitaccess
NOTE: Replace X with the drive letter pointing to the installation USB.

Thank you Sajin but I'm done for now messing around with this computer.
I am starting to believe that the last bit of broken stuff is superficial like the Mail and Calendar app, Xbox Game Bar, Reliability Monitor are left not fully functional and could be other things I have not noticed.
Besides I think I need a decoder ring (ha-ha) to read the Component-Based Servicing and the Deployment Image Servicing and Management logs. I do understand some of it but not all and don't know how to use it apply fixes. Would teach myself first.
At this point I'm just going to wait until the next Windows update in four days and cross my fingers the broken stuff gets replaced/fixed.
The last last ... last thing I want to do is rebuild my system drive after a resetting or doing a fresh start than trying to find and installing everything apps/programs. The last time it took almost a month.

Edit: This doesn't change my mind about Windows Updates will still be applying them and understand things can go wrong and this is the first time something has gone horrible wrong in a long time for me.

Personally, I would wipe Win10 and install it again with the Media Creation Tool and update to Winver 1803 (current version as of now)..Or create a drive partition and install it there (space permitting) and see how it rolls.

Read my post here if you want to prevent Win10 from auto-updating things, including drivers..Win10 installs absolutely no updates for me unless I 'un-hide' them, after 'hiding' them with the Show or Hide Updates Tool from Micro$oft (wushowhide.diagcab)..And that gives me time to search about what the updates are, and any issues associated with them.

But hold the bus..Is seems that Micro$oft has taken the tool down (at least I can't get to it), but I have it here on my OneDrive page if anybody wants it..Will update my post in the link above sometime soon..Going sailing with Captain Morgan for while..I shall return later, hopefully

Thanks..But I still can't get to Micro$oft's page anymore to download the tool, always just takes me to their support homepage, even when searching..Used to be I could only get to the download page with IE and not Edge, but now that don't even work..Strange..Was thinking they didn't want people getting/using that tool anymore so they pulled the page.

    Anybody else having that problem?

Okay so I got embolden to do an Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade and the only thing went wrong was with Edge which could have been my fault after the last reboot Edge came up with some kinda Welcome To Edge stuff but but closed it before doing anything with it than reopened it and I was unable to open and connect to web sites so I reset it and lost everything in the Favorites list. But that's it back 100%. That was a fun nine days?

Your favorites might be in the C:\Windows.old\Users folder or somewhere in Windows.old if it exists..Might be hidden and need un-hidden.

You know I had thought of that too but they're all empty folders and I always roll with un-hidden.
Oh well if that's the only thing that went wrong out of everything that could have been much more unpleasant so be it. I do have a old backup I'll just be racking my brain of anything recent.

Edit: After some more research I discovered that in late 2015 Microsoft ditched the Favorites folder storage system for Edge in favor of something called Extensible Storage Engine Database (ESEE) and the Favorites list is synced to this database. Wherever that might be? That would explain why the folder is empty it never had them to begin with the "old backup" was from Internet Explorer 11 that I never use but leave alone.
