Iv seen company's get hacked b4 and all....but today, the day they were supposed to turn back on PSN....MORE SITES WERE HACKED......like at first when i saw sony got hacked i laughed and thought it was funny watching them and all the kids and school spazz out but seriously now im getting annoyed. I wonder if thease are from the people butt hurt from them removing the install other os feature....or they just have no friends. I may not go on my ps3 that often anymore...but I just think this is ridiculous.

Frankly, Sony needs to get their act together. The blame is squarely on their lack in infrastructure and security. Passing the blame doesn't address the core issue of incompetence.

Im sure if a group of hackers all decided to target a different corporation 99% of the time they would get in. There is always a way around everything. It's just them being targeted.

I wouldnt trust those emails either. I've only received one from them telling me about the PSN data breach. It seems like all others are phishing scams.

but yeah, I don't feel bad for sony other than they f'd up and it's good to get people's attention about information security, possibly get some laws passed about accountability.

The fact that an opinion has been widely held is no evidence whatever that it is not utterly absurd.

     Oh this is good stuff!

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

This seems more and more like a corporate sponsored attack than some independant group who is butt hurt over sony. It seems too concentrated and precise with an incident occuring almost every 1-2 weeks and serious enough in nature to make it into the major news outlets.

What I haven't seen a lot of by comparison are the collective reports of ID theft, bank fraud, or fruadulent credit card use in the wake of these events in any kind of magnitude. I am sure it is occuring, but if millions of people are being impacted by this in this manner daily/weekly, then it would be seeing similar coverage as people would be demanding action at that point from their financial institutions and the government.

It is hard to tell if it is just one side reporting or not, but it does seem that there is more going on that what is being stated.

Sony gets attacked because they mess with the wrong people. Xbox doesn't get hacked because they don't mess with anyone. You can do WHATEVER you want to your xbox as long as it's offline, because when you go online, you WILL get banned. Why can't Sony just leave it alone and let people do what they have been doing since the very first days of consoles. People don't like change Sony, so stop trying to change things.

Microsoft knows how attackers think and they have powerful safeguards in place. Sony obviously didn't have enough IT security personnel in place or trained properly.

So long as crime exists there will be hackers who will exploit weaknesses for profit or personal gain.

Same thing goes for the PS3, as long as you stayed offline and didnt download the updates, then nothing would happen to the system. Honestly, Microsoft has made far more changes that impact the majority of consumers than Sony has. The difference is that Sony made changes that impacted people running Other OS whether to pirate games or run homebrew. As I said before they wouldnt be impacted as long as they didnt update the PS3 which tells me they got ticked because they were pirating games and wanted to play online. Regardless, none of that gave hackers the right to break into Sony's databases and make off with sensitive account information.

think the hackers should quit , wouldnt think there is anything they can gain now.
but its also showing that sony still doesnt have their **** together.  just using ps3 for blu ray atm.
and microsoft doesnt have this problem bc:
    1.  computer/online giant
    2. lots of money
    3. make gamers pay for live which helps pay for good security

Hackers aren't mad because they can't play pirated games online. They are mad because Sony is turning this into a legal matter and trying to put people away for wanting to mod the PS3. I really don't understand why they don't take a page from MS and simply ban the console from going online. Not only is this a cheaper solution for Sony, but in the end they make more money because the modder is now in need of a new PS3 if they want online again.
