Yep its running pretty smooth now.

Looking gr8! out of curiosity do you have an idea of wattage on that setup? I'm trying to convince my significant other on the need for such a high end gaming folding rig

Yeah its fluctuating between 800-1000 watts, each Kingpin card OLED screen and gpuz is showing a little over 300 watts and the cpu is fluctuating between 180 and 210 watts.

Not sure if you already have but you might like this little gadget for future reference.  I currently have two for two rigs but plan on grabbing some more.

I actually order one of those a few days ago and have not received it yet, I have been curious what my total draw is as well because when I'm benchmarking both cards show between 750 and 800 watts and throw on the cpu with it makes me think my 1600T power supply is maxed out. PC folding good right now, this is what it was showing this morning when i came down.

OK so i got my little wattage thing-a-ma-jiggy and it shows my total draw from the whole pc with the cpu and both gpu's folding right now at between 1400 and 1500 watts.

Its a 9980XE all cores synced at 4.5GHz. I should have said total draw for my whole system not the pc.  Everything is plugged into a single heavy duty power strip. Monitor, PC, and Chiller unit and that power strip is plugged into the meter. Before i powered up the computer the meter was at 220 watts draw with just the chiller unit running.

I actually just plug the PSU to the Kill-A-Watt and plug it into the power strip just so I can see the PC usage.  I'm sure a good chunk of that is your Chiller.

Don't forget, that meter has a limit to around 1800w.

Yeah the chiller is 220 watts of it, this particular outlet i'm using is a higher amp. I have 3 plugs right here by my computer. I have a 220 outlet, a 15 amp outlet with standard wiring and a 25 amp with extra heavy wiring. I got all things covered.

Okay, that makes a little more sense that you have a chiller.  I was trying to figure out what CPU you were running that could draw 800W+ lol

Are my folding numbers normal or low? Here's a screenshot. I don't know how to estimate my performance. PPD?

My 3950x w/ 1usmus powerplan and 2080ti KP folding, with 2 monitors on, has me at ~550W. No idea how you're getting all the way up to 1400 sparetime!

Hmm, I get about 1KW out of 1 10900X and 2x 2080tis. And that's without the fans and pumps. That chiller must be a beast. Does it run all the time? I can't find a 10980XE anywhere to really pump out the points.

yeah the chiller runs all the time and alone pulls 225-250 watts depending on how much the 2 kingpins are overclocked, and then the 9980XE pulls around 420 watts.  Each kingpin fluctuates around 350 watts.

Sometimes I'm jealous of my European brothers with 16A 240V sockets, good enough to run nearly 3000W continuously!
I'm stuck on my balcony with one socket and 1450W max, and had to borrow one living room plug where another unit runs at about 300W.

Does anyone know how large some of these WU's will get as far as points?  Just curious because mine is working on one currently that is 420,000 points and about 2.5 hours to do. Its the largest in points for any i have done prior. I have had several at like 340,000 to 350,000 points but never one this high.

Re: Guess I'll join in and help the cause !!!! 2020/06/04 17:25:51 (permalink)
Depends on how long they take to finish
You should be able to hit 4M PPD easily on those 2080Tis (per GPU).
But if I was you, I would disable the Xeon CPU folding, and add another 2080 Ti.
In fact, if your motherboard has 4x x16 slots (running at x4 or x8 speed), add 2x 2080Tis.

The Xeon probably pulls like the same as a GPU, but should be 4x less PPD than a 2080Ti.
Plus, your Xeon is the GPU's bottleneck right now.
They need at least a 3,5Ghz CPU (4Ghz is preferred).
Just doing GPU folding, will allow the Xeon to run in boost a lot higher, a lot cooler, and allow your system to pull 3 to 4x 2080 Tis.
Who knows, perhaps it could run 5x 2080Tis, if enough PCIE lanes are present!

Use preferably Linux, but if you want to use Windows, use MSI Afterburner, to power cap those 2080Tis to between 220-250W.
It'll allow your system to run well below the 1500W ceiling, and PPD isn't affected much when dropping stock power ratings from 300W to 200W.
Just don't drop em below 185W, because they will perform poorly there.
In Linux I was able to hit 4,4M PPD on my first tuning setting (capped to 215W, and overclocked to +120Mhz; running GPU at 1895-1995Mhz).
The few Mhz drop isn't that bad, if it means you can add another GPU to the mix.
But keep it to 2080, 2080Super, or 2080Ti.
For a 2080Ti system to 'lend' power (by power capping) to a GPU less than the 3 above, you might lose PPD.

It's a much better system that way, than running the CPU under that load (as well as GPUs at their fully rated TDPs).

I'm still waiting for BIG navi 2, and Nvidia RTX 3000 series!

I'm not running a Xeon cpu, its a 9980XE and i am also just using 1 gpu right now because i'm working on a totally different build. But i am having no issues getting over 3 million PPD as it is right now. the WU's for my cpu are usually around 12,000 and WU's for my gpu are usually around 220,000 but every now and then i get those larger ones. I've been pretty much non-stop for about 9 days now without a single delay in sending finished WU's and no waiting for downloads either. Actually working on another 412,000 point WU right now and the cpu is on a 27,000 WU so i'm not complaining a bit about how its working out for me.
