voklskier4452 Hey guys, Im wondering if you can give me a little guidance on my dual PCB 295 right now my clocks are: core- 799 shader- 1743 memory- 1188 That is about as high as i can go with 1.2v as set by MSI Afterburner. How much more voltage can i pump through this thing with relative safety? Max. 1.3. But safely? Each card is different, as you know.

all right gurus I need a little help getting stable over 4.4 I beleave that my uncore speed is the problem I cannot unlink it to the fsb/qpi every time I get around 215 blk my uncore goes over 8k and cannot get a run in temps are a little high but never go over 82. Every once in a while I will try to run just the vantage cpu tests and pass them but when its time for a whole run I crash as soon as I hit the cpu test???

are you @ 2:8, or 2:10. if your at 2:10 you have no choice but to go to 20 uncore. 2:8 try 16X. or try more dimm voltage. I run about 1.75 on occasion.

I run about 1.75 on occasion. cool Ill try that but might wait untill I get my chipset blocks installed for that afraid to shut my pc off right now Im raging some 06 runs just made the first page for single 280. Not much compared to you guys but addicting all the same. @q om on water nothing special I can bench at 1.5 core pretty safely never go over 83 degrees but thats only in cpu tests. I have passed at 1.55vcore but things get a little to high for my likeing I think I hit 93 one run and decided not to to that again. LOL but as you know its nice and cold around here Im in OH so ambient temps are really helping. Nate im not sure that I understand do you are those ratios for mem/uncore or fsb/mem , sorry for dumb question just dont really understand what steps to take to make me stable at 8k plus uncore. fsb/dram is 2/8

Whoops, sorry reggie. I know, the terminology is very different, and is expressed in different units. I have to get out my notes switching between the 780i & P5E. This may help. The settings below are not right as to the values, Im just trying to show you where the uncore might be in the asus mobo. AI Tweaker Menu ---------------------- Ai Overclock Tuner => Manual Intel Speed Step Tech => Disabled Intel Turbo Tech => Disabled CPU Ratio => Auto BCLK Freq => 186 PCIE Freq => 100 DRAM Freq => DDR3-1491MHz UCLK Freq => Auto -This is probably the Uncore frequency (16x on our boards) Since BCLK is the cpu freq, I can only deduce that UCLK is the "U"ncore blck, or frequency. Play with this to see the options it gives you. This might or might not change the setting just above (DRAM Freq) automatically. You;ll just have to test it. QPI Link Data Rate => Auto Voltages ----------- CPU Voltage => 1.35 CPU PLL Voltage => 1.96 QPI/DRAM Core Voltage => 1.35 - I know this is uncore voltage DRAM Bus Voltage => 1.64 CPU Differential Amplitude => 800mV

Random question. Do any of you guys back up your whole hdd somewhere so if it gets FUBAR from too many crashes you can just copy the stuff over and be right back up? And i don't mean just copying the whole hdd to an external hdd - if you copy it back after reinstalling, it doesn't actually reinstall the programs i found out. I think the term that i am trying to describe is "ghosting" your hdd, thought that could be wrong.

There are back up applications that will take an "image" of your OS. I don't use one. I can be up and running in about 30 min with a fresh install of windows. All my vital data is on a separate internal HDD.

How can you designate which stuff goes to which hdd though? And, how does a fresh Windows install recognize the programs and data on the other hdd? So you don't reinstall any programs though?

No, I reinstall them. I have most of the application executables and all drivers on the separate drive. And I install other apps that are on the original cd/DVD's as I need them. I keep it all pretty organized, so it goes quick.

pretty much...some apps no. ms office and a few games are the only things not on the HDD Just a few days ago I went from the win 7 rc to a retail version. I have all the bench apps, tweeks software, drivers loaded, A couple games (I bench way more than I game...way more, so I installed these a few days later), browser bookmarks, e-mail address book file, MS office (CD), adobe 9.0 standard, media server apps so I can stream to my TV, video editing software, apps and drivers for my video equipment. I use Thunderbird for e-mail, so I just copy my entire thunderbird directory back-up to the new application data directory, the list goes on and on. I have a prioritized list developed for what I use my system for. I just go down the list. Some things I don't get to for a few weeks I use them so infrequently.
