Awesome deal on those 2080ti KPE's.  Looking forward to seeing your new build on the HOF's. AMD is due for more representation on the leaderboards...

DW is probably correct about the performance degradation of ampere on PCI 3 (intel) vs PCI 4 (AMD).  Time will tell? Will the 11980xe and its platform equiv support PCIE 4 ?

Thanks, I just couldn't let that deal go and I was fortunate to purchase them at that price. They should be here in a few days and I'll get them installed and see what happens.

First time in about 14 years that I have another AMD platform to play with.

Did anyone see where there were two AMD Threadripper 3990X on Fleabay going for $2100.00 shipped each? (one has been already sold)

Too bad it's located WAY over there in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Also, If by chance you did purchase it you'll have to wait for 10 days for payment funds to clear, Then it will take more than another Month to ship it to the U.S.A., Not to mention there's the fee charges from customs processing, import taxes that should raise the total costs somewhat.

Still, It is around $1200 - $1400 cheaper than any other 3990X that I've seen up for sale.

Hmmmmm.....................

Man, What a day this has been!

I really can't believe the luck I've been having finding current High-end products at around half-price to use in my New Build.

So now it appears that my AMD Threadripper 3960X that was included along with my ASUS MB I recently purchased will more than likely go up for sale around mid-October this year when my upgraded CPU I just bought for $1900 gets delivered.

True statement, But If it's not in great operational/physical condition as listed in the auction, Fleabay states they will refund my purchase.

Nothing ventured, Nothing gained.

Re:Get It Colder......2 2020/08/30 12:24:51 (permalink)
Well Hell, Looks like problems have surfaced with one of my Kingpin 2080 Ti's. I first thought that the OLED on the Hydro Copper water block failed, But as it turned out it was actually an onboard PCB connector failure instead, So I had to uninstall the Hydro Copper and install the Factory Kingpin AIO and RMA that card back to EVGA for a New replacement under warranty!

Anyway, after giving it some deep thoughts about waiting for the New Kingpin to return and then going through all the trouble of reinstalling the Hydro Copper on it again, I decided to just sell the Kingpin Hydro Copper block on Fleabay and also took the second Kingpin Hydro Copper block off the second Kingpin card to sell.

So far I have again managed to sell one of the Kingpin blocks + the second Kingpin card on Fleabay and have the second block still listed for sale.

If that sells, When I receive my New RMA back, I plan on putting that up on Fleabay which with my other Fleabay sales should net me enough $$$$ to purchase a pair of New RTX 3090's, Which I more than likely should have done in the first place!

Yep always something, of course the 3090 is going to require a different nvlink as well because sounds like they changed the interface on them.

That's a fact, Seems like everytime a new Card series comes out, There are ALWAYS a different assortment of components that must be bought along with the Card itself and you have to sell off the components you had bought for the previous series at a loss.

Re:Get It Colder......2 2020/08/30 18:48:56 (permalink)
You Know what?....I might be arriving somewhat late for the Nvidia GPU Party in September.

Another Nvidia Dual GPU PCB?

I am thinking I might just wait and see after the initial release of the RTX 30xx series what the actual Benchmarking Scores will be of the RTX 3090 that supposedly uses a Traversal Coprocessor (that would be used as a sole Ray Tracing Chip) on one side of a weird V shaped dual sided PCB that will be working in conjunction with an Ampere GPU Chip on the opposite side which supposedly is done just to gain more Ray Tracing Superiority.

In the meantime, I have sold the Two Kingpin Hydro Copper water blocks, But the sale of my remaining Kingpin card has fallen through due to the buyer unable to pay for it (typical Fleabay scenario!),  So after contemplating about whether immediately buying a 300xx series card as soon as they come out (and deal with any memory problems like in the initial release of the 20xx series cards had) and Now realizing that my initial cost of $2200 when I bought the two Kingpin cards + the Hydro Copper water blocks minus $1500 for the sale of the water blocks means that I actually have invested only $700 for both of my two EVGA RTX 2080 Ti Kingpin's, Plus the fact that one of the Kingpins has been RMA'd for a new replacement that is going to be delivered soon.

There is No Way I can beat that deal with a stick!

Well, After the Nvidia 30XX series announcement today, It looks like I'm going to still have some fun times using my 2080 Ti KPE's for a while before the new 3090 KPE's will become available!

I told myself this time I will not buy every new 30XX series edition that comes out, Mainly because I don't want to keep purchasing / selling them at a loss.

I'll probably just wait for the Big Boy.....But I could be wrong.

I must regress.... At this point, I do want to see actual pricing/benchmarks first and I'm definitely not buying any 30xx directly from Nvidia with their weird shaped PCB that according to EKWB can't be fitted with a water block. I really do want to concentrate on my New AMD 3960X / ASUS motherboard and using a KPE for some 1X benching (possibly).

Plus my AMD 3990X has been shipped and is on the way.

Talk about Being Under Pressure by Selling near the release of the 30xx series in 7 days!.......

Today I managed (somehow) to sell my Last RTX 2080 Ti Kingpin on Ebay for $1100.00.

Didn't think I was going to be able to pull that one off....

Are you planning to sell your other Kingpins or are you going to keep them for spares after you get some 3090's?

Probably sell them eventually but for now just leaving everything as is until my health issues are resolved. It's driving me crazy not to be messing around with computer stuff right now. I might end up selling my chiller and just give it all up right now unfortunately.

It doesn't happen very often, But I was somewhat lucky to sell both my RTX 2080 Ti Kingpins for $1100 each and since I only originally paid $2200 for them AND the Kingpin Hydro Copper water blocks they came with, It has worked out well.
Since then I also sold both water blocks for $550 each on Fleabay, So I actually gained extra funding for my upcoming RTX 30xx series system upgrade.

Which chiller do you have?

Quit jumping on examples as if they are topics. A favorite forum mistake.
