Q56_Monster

Don't let me get you down, Nate.  My time in the lime light is short lived at best.  My sli score of 49k is already smashed by at least one guy (rwoodburn1 with 3 480's @ P50k+).  He can post it, I don't care, but he doesn't participate in modsrigs rankings.  It's only a matter of time before the single card score falls too.

I loved over the summer racing with John...I'd get #1, then I'd wake up in the morning, and he took it back.  Then I'd get it back again, then he'd spank me and show me who was boss, LOL!  It made me better.

Hey, lets face it...I'm only there because I did two major things...980x & the chiller.  Andre Yang quoted a month or two ago in overclocker magazine, that  "If you have the money, you can do the same thing as me".  Ain't that the truth!!  That's the dang problem with this hobby, nothing stands still, and it costs so much.  We were pretty lucky with the 295's...they had a real long life in GPU terms.  But it's over now.  Time to regroup, save some cash, and come back strong.

Oh, and I'm just rambling...this isn't all meant for you Nate.  Just the first paragraph.  You are highly respected in my book, bro.  I remember when you were messing around with your Q6600/chiller set-up...going back and forth with Hallowen on tips...then you announced you were getting some 295's.  Right then and there I thought, welp, that's it, I'm done...this guys gonna kick by butt!  And you did!  But I hung in there, continually learning (from you I might add!).

That's enough from me....just remember that there's always someone faster coming up behind you....in everything in life!

Im not down and out... just plotting... thats all  ;)  the current equipment will no longer cut the mustard, so what does that mean?  sell it & upgrade

The blockman cometh...

hey im knew to this thread (but i read most of it it took 5 days!!!)

but i have an idea for a dice/ln2 pot

its alot like one of nates (the one that is stepped with the  holes)

so just tap the holes and use threded coper rods when you are using ln2 and then unscrew them for dice

EXCELLENT idea!!  where do I get 1/4 20 copper rods?  I'll try anything at least once...

i didn't want to say it, but that's what's wrong...water is probably on the board or card board some where...and right now it's giving you the.."we need help" call..... before something shorts out and you see sparks.

and i know the feeling...i keep breaking mine down every few days to check...and sometimes i find things...so i hit it with the compressor for a few minutes then put it back together and everything is fine.

also why i refined my prep work. i love how you guys have yours, but im a motherboard nanny..i have to be able to look at the board and make sure she is alright...lol... and to know that my prep work is holding up.

nate takes a day for prep...man!, i can't do that...as much as im switching things around right now....i would never get any benching in...lol

a day PER component, like each video card takes a day, and then the motherboard takes a day....
three days of prep-work!

(sorry im catching up from this weekends posts)

Looked into some 1/4" copper rod (you would just have to thread a little bit of one end using a tap & dye set) and its about $18 for each 1/4" x 12".  I have lots of holes.

It would be cheaper for me to make a new pot from scratch but I like the idea anyway.  I would have to incorporate it into the initial design and use a single 12" rod and cut it into pieces.

EDIT:
Found same 1/4" x 12" rod   for $3.23

DOUBLE EDIT:
Found Alloy 101(99.99% pure), 1/4"x 36" $12.72 at my favorite, McMaster
Part # 8965K123

My next order from McMaster will probably include one or 2 of those rods.  Excellent idea Mr Beef.

thanks let me know how the beef sticks work

just got another good idea  why not make a water block to go  under the moboard (you could also use it to keep the bottom of a board warm during ln2/dice use

@ shock...good one!  Where'd you find that?

@ beef....I don't think you want to keep anything warm, especially the bottom of the cpu socket.
