Didn't make much headway tonight in hwbot points.  I beat my previous bests in single 295 3dm05/06/vantage (38,677/29,923/P26,892), but not by much.  I'll submit them tomorrow and maybe I'll get a point out of them.  Later guys....

Just fyi, holes are not very good/useful for DICE. They are only good for ln2. If you want a good DICE layout, try having the inside base have steps. Look at the koolance cpu-ln2 rev.1 pot (ignore the ln2 name, it sucks for ln2 but is great for DICE so i've heard) to see what i am talking about when i say "steps": http://www.koolance.com/water-cooling/includes/modules/image_browse.php?code=832&type=more&nindex=3

Hmm Just was thinking that the Acetone is liquid so it would 'flow' into the holes and then the DICE would chill it, so it would have a LN2-like effect. Also, holes are like a million times easier to do from my point of view. How much would it impact performance?

Would larger holes or smaller holes be better?

Re:Get It Colder......2 2010/02/07 14:14:00 (permalink)
If you are going with holes, i would guess bigger. Possibly if you had 5 very large holes, it might help. It could possibly help in that the chunks of DICE were smaller than the holes, and would fall in them, which would cool the acetone closest to the proc lower. (did that make any sense?)

Also, my 750i FTW, q9300 setup from last night:

I only did SuperPi b/c i didn't have a ton of time. I got around 14.6s at my best, which isn't very good...I can guarantee the board is the limiting factor. I guess i'll test the q9300 on the DFI p35 and see what i can do. But i am going to keep it in the 750i FTW for a while to do some 3D tests with SLI 8800gs's.

heh... how about that dice pot john

Halo, more surface area is always better.  The acetone is actually the material doing the thermal transfer from the dice chunks, to the copper.  The more surface area touching acetone, the better thermal transfer you are going to have.

So I have come to the conclusion for ME that XP is not really any better than  win-7. Yeah the cpu score in 3D06 is better but crashes a lot for ME, and noticed little to no gain in any benches, 2 days of frustration fighting with XP. Just had to vent that.

I like xp better 7 still has some issues especially when it is left on folding for long periods of time (i'm running xp 64 too hahaha). I think I've had at least 10 os's on my pc so far xp 32 xp64 vista64 server 03 server08 various linux distros 7-64bit beta rc final. Right now I'm back at xp it is the most stable for me.
