must be in over my head I think I just fried my whole pc installed card and block and there was a leak that I thought I caught but I must have not noticed moisture get on the card and when I booted it sparked. Dead card right didnt really care pretty sure I can get a new one from new egg or xfx. Then when I put in my 8500 it boots fine and acts normal exept that the display is all jacked up now. I tried all 3 pcie slots on my board and all the same result. Now I have a regular pci vga card in and it works fine. So I fried my pcie controller when I saw the spark huh. The 850 is the only other card I have so I have to wait untill my girlfriend gets off her computer untill I can figure out if its the card or the board but its gotta be the board. Lesson to be learned 24 hour leak test is no joke kids. I suck i literally blew around 1000 dollars of equipment this week. So I guess ill be out of the game for a while.

These sorts of restrictions drive me crazy some times. It has been a couple times that I have had to do the CPU swap twice for similar reasons because I didn't realize the BIOS restriction ahead of time. Fortunately for me though, they were CPU upgrades which I was doing so I had a backup CPU which would work with the BIOS on the board.

nateman_doo I sold my old 8800GTS 512's. Long ago before I knew about the bot. Wish I saved one for some old school benching. Yea, I'm just learning to keep all my old hardware. Especially GPU's....when a new cpu technology comes out, that's when you bench those old GPU's and gain some HWbot points (and cups!). I'm keeping the mobo's and cpu's too just in case I want to go dice or ln2 in the future...don't want to do first time experiments on my classified! (FTL) If you're into benching, which we all are, then just keep the stuff if you can afford it. I still can't get xp loaded on my 780FTW!? It takes like 4 hours to copy files and hangs at 51%. Swapped out 3 cpus, 4 ram modules, 2 different dvd/cd burners, 2 different gpus. The only thing I didn't swap out yet is the HDD, psu, and mobo. I'm home today so I'll just let it run all day and see what happens. Want to get some '01 runs in!

No matter if I select 4 threads, 1 thread, 8 threads...still around 44 sec...If I posted it, I'd be almost last in the Q6600 standings!!!! SuperPi works OK?? Hummmmm

D1esel: A Man after my own heart! Nate: I finally got XP to install on my 780ftw after a week of farting around with it. Turns out it was the BIOS all along. Be sure to clear the cmos, then before installing windows, go into bios and reset everything to failsafe defaults (or whate ever it's called..not sure you really have to do the fail safe thing, but it's what I did), then proceed to set it up like you want it. Be sure to disable all those spread spectrum and C1E settings. F10 and see what happens.
