Oh know, what happened?

Just kept losing USB ports after a few days and the internet would intermittently fail.
 
No big problems, But I might as well turn it in for a new replacement while still in the newegg 30 day window.
 
Anyway, Back to waiting for my Nvidia 3090 SLI NVlink.

So I shipped my new ASUS motherboard back to Newegg for exchange, and NOW I have received the Nvidia 3090 SLI NVlink!

Still waiting for someone to start manufacturing a full cover water block for the EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra because even with 50F/10C air blowing directly into the triple fans, The GPU is only maintaining around 55C - 60C during Benchmarking test loads.
 
Looks like I will need to fabricate a GPU Only water block similar to the one JayzTwoCents shows in his Youtube Videos to go along with the cold air blowing across the Graphics card PCB to cool the VRM's.
 
In the meantime, I'm waiting for Newegg to ship my replacement New motherboard.

OK, Received my new replacement ASUS Rog Strix TRX40-E motherboard, Installed Both RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra's on Stock settings in SLI and managed to get #16 position in Port Royal.

Set the memory to +300 and the GPU to +150 and went to position #13 in Port Royal.

How are those dx11 sli titles working out for ya?

Unfortunately, Due to all my hardware/motherboard changes, I haven't really had the time to test SLI in dx11 as of yet, But hopefully I'll be getting around to it.
Also, The new replacement motherboard I received and used for the Port Royal benches today, I found out it was the wrong model in that it was an "E-gaming" MB that according to ASUS will work with my AMD 3990X, BUT it will only operate with the 3990X at STOCK MEMORY SETTINGS!
 
Now I have to return this "E-gaming" MB (again) for a refund and I had to purchase an "XE-Gaming" MB that will allow the Memory to be Overclocked with the 3990X like my ASUS Rog Zenith II Extreme, Although as you know THAT MB didn't have 4-slot pcie spacing!
 
The RIGHT MB (I Hope) will be arriving this Friday.
 
Man!, I have to say that this New Build and the components I have tried has more surprises than I care to count.

Yes, I agree.
Even with all the problems I have been having, It has been "somewhat" fun trying to get the 3090 SLI working, But after running only Port Royal benches in SLI and for some unknow reason not being able to run Time Spy Extreme in SLI, I am rapidly losing interest in any RTX mgpu setups.
 
There will be much more headroom to play with using a Kingpin XOC bios than having to use non-EVGA bios's and/or ruin the cards with Hard Mods to even get near what a 3090 Kingpin will be capable of, Not to mention it won't void the EVGA Warranty.

That's why I haven't said anything. I was wondering why you didn't run any other benchmarks other than Port Royal. It seems they work in TimeSpy Extreme (NVlink), but none of the other 3dmark's seem to be that spectacular....
 
Along with having to have a special board or no 3 spacing NVlink adapter.

Quit jumping on examples as if they are topics. A favorite forum mistake.

Yes, but is it honest to flash the card back to stock to try and rma? Nope.

If you post on the forums “hey guys look at my scores with the xoc vbios loaded” what do you think is going to happen to your warranty when evga sees that?

I have a feeling the xoc vbios for the 3090 is going to be on a request basis this time around just like it was for the 1080 ti kingpin where your name and serial number are logged before they send it to you, so they can know your cards warranty is void for requesting the xoc vbios.

You are correct in that assumption. That pretty much leaves me with the "Get it Colder" route for Overclocking/Benchmarking purposes since, Similar to Vince's cooling methods, the warranty seems to remain intact no matter how low the sub-zero temperatures you apply to the card, Or am I just thinking happy thoughts again?

And therein lies the rub. Unless the New Kingpin is available with an "Unlocked" bios for voltage and No PL, All the cold in the world just isn't enough. Of course, If I wanted to totally "bypass" everything holding the card back without worrying about the fact I could lose $2500+ and the warranty in a split second like "a few" overclockers I have seen doing, Then where is all the Fun without doing that?

So are you, or aren’t you going to request for the xoc vbios?

Now, As you have stated, If anyone openly states in the Forums what they will do or won't do about requesting an xoc vbios for a 3090 Kingpin with "Big Brother" (EVGA) watching everything they say,....... How would You answer that question?
 
Along those same lines, It may even be a fact that the previous RTX 2080 Ti Kingpin xoc vbios had possibly been obtained and used without the proper "request" path using devious means by a  person or persons unknown, Perish the thought!
 
I am inclined to think that anyone will do just about anything that can be thought of to gain an edge in the wonderful world of elevating Overclocking/Benchmarking Scores, But I could be mistaken.

The last xoc vbios for the 2080 ti kingpin was publicly available from TiN on his xdev website, so anyone could get it if they knew where to look, or even just asked here on the forums.

So more than likely, anyone should eventually be able to get the 3090 Kingpin xoc vbios in the same manner as the 2080 Ti Kingpin xoc vbios was obtained without the need for a request.
 
Looks like now we're back to waiting for the New Kingpin to be released for sale and trying to beat the Bots to obtain one.
