First try another DP cable , and make sure it's VESA certified, 2nd see if you can try it with another monitor and see if the blinking stops of continuse on the other monitor, Mostly artifacting occurs when the memory gets unstable at the speed its clocked and it can look like lightning/ tearing at first, and when the memory starts to go the pixelation will look like a bunch of space invaders popping up right before the game crash, do you have any crashing to desktop? your description make me think it might not be the GPU, Might try to DDU then do a fresh clean install of a recent driver like 537.42, but not the newest driver, and install just the driver in custom setting and not the Gforce experience . maybe try the reset button in Afterburner or PX1 , then benchmark test it and see if it does it still. Just throwing some things out there to try, and use PX1 or GPUz to make sure the card has no hot spots under load ...
