If I won't be water cooling, should I get the Classified, or is the Superclocked+ a good option as well? What concerns me is that I keep hearing how the non-Classys use the reference PCB and are lower quality overall. However, I only plan on doing some light overclocking for gaming and that's it. Is it true that its not worth it to get the Classified or Kingpin if I won't be water cooling/L2N/extreme overclocking? If somebody can provide some insight that would be great.

Well, bought a 980 Ti Classy from Newegg last night, 2-day shipping. Hopefully it'll get here by Friday - wish me luck in the chip lottery!

Currently bought one as well today. Will post asic quality and performance when I get card. FYI: Previously had a gtx 980 ti amp extreme. Sent it back to Newegg because it was crashing at stock clocks, plus it boosted to 1405 MHz with a asic of 68.2 percent. I am praying that this classified has a 75 plus asic score as my old gtx 780 classified had a asic of 80.2 percent. Anyone know what the default boost clock of this card is in actual testing? You can check this by running a Heaven benchmark and checking gpu-z. Thanks

I discovered lowering Power Target in Precision X improve my overclocking. Now i can run Witcher3 at 1502mhz without artifacts. The max TDP while running 3DMark only 52% in GPUZ, so i lowered the Power Target to 80%, still below 55% TDP. Using no overvoltage, although the graphics cards will auto select 1.2V when under 65 Celsius. Something is not right with Classy hardwired bios. Can someone else verify lower Power Target is better?

Great read from KP, best info yet. Thanks for posting! I tried to pick up the KP980ti today but failed at 2 minutes into the launch, same as others. Looks like KP mentioned this was kind of a test to see what the response would be. More KP980ti's to come. I know this is a classy thread but I can't seem to buy one of those either.

Thanks Hallowen, First time I can buy one and they limit me to one. EVGA wouldn't take two grand from me today for two KP980ti's now Newegg tells me you can't but more than one classy. Its all good. There is a higher ASIC power at work here.

Scarlet-Tech There is no such things as economical extreme cooling honestly. The best way to start is going to be LN2 Pots, Acetone, Shop Towel (Biggest box you can find), Petroleum Jelly (Squeeze bottle and big tub), and Dry Ice. Dry Ice is easier to store and is cheaper to buy, and doesn't require dewars and such. It will get you to -70 to start, and save you hundreds of dollars, until you realize that dry ice is no where near as cold as LN2 and decide to get the rest of the stuff down the road. I have legitimately coated my motherboard in petroleum Jelly to protect it. I need to even pull it off the test bench, and apply it to the back of the motherboard to protect everything. it allows electricity to flow, but doesn't allow water (humidity) to get to the electrical components.
ok you hit the nail on the head and i appreciate it. thanks.

It just neutered my voltage. Went from 1.200v with 115% PT to like 1.15vish at 80% PT. Clocks went down from 1504mhz to ~1460mhz. Why did EVGA limit the Classified's voltage so much? It only allows +50mv, but anything after +12mv doesn't do anything. I can't get voltage above 1.200mv no matter what. My G1 980 Ti would go to 1.235 at stock.

So strange. I dont get neutered voltage. TDP is all below 55%. Here is attached a screen shot of Witcher to show what i use. 62 celcius make the core clock drop 1 bin.

Don't put the Kingpin bios on that card.. They have different types of memory. 980ti Classfied = Hynix 980ti Kingpin = Samsung There is a bios over at Kingpincooling.com for the 980TI Classified by Kingpin. Here's the link http://kingpincooling.com.../showthread.php?t=3801 Nice card by the way... Very high Asic also.. ;)

Does anyone know why PX and AB are not adjusting the Classified's voltage? Nothing goes above 1.200v (checked with a DMM). +12 or +50, it doesn't matter, voltage just says at 1.200v. Is this an error with the BIOS or with the software? Altering the voltage with Classified Controller does raise the voltage (shown on the DMM, but not in PX). Using Overboost shows the card using more voltage, however, as soon as it hits load, the card is going back down to 1.200v (both on the DMM and in PX).
