So what a great way to waste a lot of time.  Here I sit, with 7 years post graduate education, board certified in Emergency medicine, 20 years working in an inner city ER, trying to build a gaming rig.  I am going through my pictures mostly from my iPhone, converting to <500KB, and posting to a forum where I am hoping to get elite status because I cannot find a quicker way to get the GPU that I want without paying through the nose.  Either I am stupid, or the system encourages me to strive for something that I should know to avoid. Is it worth it?

Might be better just to buy a new 8700k computer but I hate how they don't list the brand of graphics card...just 1080ti....such as Cyberpower, Ibuypower, or HP Omen....

Look at the bundle or DIY

That takes way to much effort.

Are there any bundles for a GTX-1080ti and PSU only?.  I don't know what to do with the extra casing if I do the DIYConfigurator.

Don't waste your time getting elite status, there is none in stock and hasn't been for weeks/months.

Time is money. And in your case, being a doctor is probably a very high time/money ratio. If you have the option of being at work and making a doctor's wage vs. sitting home playing graphics card whack-a-mole, go make money. Then buy a fully configured gaming system from one of the reputable vendors. With today's graphics card and RAM prices, the boutique gamer pre-builds are highly competitive price wise, if not all out winners versus a home built rig. Especially with your income potential.

MSI x570 MEG ACE
AMD 3900x
EVGA 2080 FTW
32g Micron E-Die
2, 1t Corsair PCI Gen IV NVMe in RAID 0
Various other SSD's and old school mechanical HD's for backup and other shenanigans
Corsair Obsidian 750D case

I am also running a 920 with a 9800 GTX gpu.  You are probably right.  But I like doing the DIY.  The whack a mole comment is so true.  I have driven to my local Microcenter twice when the website said that it had EVGA FTW3 in stock, only to get there to find out the website was wrong.  My wife just laughs at me.

Oh is that so? Helped two friends with their builds today and told them to get EVGA since I only hear good things about EVGA and the benefits of elite and the step up program. Unfortunate that's the case if they wish to upgrade their gpu in the near future.

They are rarely an elite-only purchase. As stated, the elite benefit is pretty much non-existent at this time.

You can purchase a 1080 Ti in a bundle right now.

I'm running a 920 as well. I didn't win the silicon lottery with mine though. The majority of 920's would overclock to 4ghz on air, and 4.5ghz+ on water. I tried my best, but at the end of the day, my chip decided that 3.750ghz was all it was gonna do. I have to give it credit, though... it has ran at that speed 24 hours/day since February of '09. Nine years straight.

There's a light bulb burning in a fire house somewhere in the US that's over like 120 years old now. And it has burned that entire time. I'm starting to think my 920 is going to be the firehouse light bulb of this millenia. ; ) I have no plans of replacing mine, and have yet to have it bottleneck my GTX 980 or my new GTX 1080.

Let me know if you  want to sell your 920. I'll give it a good home. :D

I totally understand about the DIY thing. I've built every computer I've owned since the early '90's. And yes, I've had my wife laugh at me many times. Primarily, during computer builds. If she hears me say, "Oh, ***!" She immediately laughs and says, "let me guess... you've burned up another very expensive part that you're going to have to buy yet again," as she walks over to the chalk board and puts another vertical line under the "Pairs of Shoes You Owe Me" header.

Oh, and don't bother to get elite status. There are no elite status cards for sale right now, and the forums say it has been a while since any have been made available. : /

And please don't take this the wrong way, but... I hope we never meet in person. :D

Yeah, I'll pass on paying that much for a 1080. I mean, some people pay that a month in rent for a place to live! But I guess if you have a 1080 you can just live in a van and use VR to pretend to live wherever you want.
