Here's to hoping I become an EVGA customer today....

The good news is they are offering them to elite members. Hopefully I find a card soon. I don't want to wait till April.

Unfortunately for those that aren't elite we are left feeling like the Jonah Hill character in 40-Year-Old Virgin, trying to buy the thigh high KISS boots:  "Yeah, so I guess I can give you some money and you can give me these shoes and..."

Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall buy no AMD, be price gouged, nor be a console peasant. I shall wait it out and get a good deal. I shall live and die at my PC. I am the keyboard in the darkness. I am the watcher on the forums. I am the surge protector that guards the realms of men. I pledge my life and honor to the EVGA forums, for this night and all the nights to come........at least until I get my hands on a GTX 1080 Ti SC2 GAMING.

Ridiculous that miners are buying all the cards, price gouging them, then buying up all the cards once they come in stock. Still waiting for a 1080ti hybrid to pop up.

Ridiculous that people keep blaming miners as being the entire issue - hint, it's not MINERS that are price-gouging cards.

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.

Why cant adding a product to the cart guarantee stock for just a couple of minutes? (a la ticketbastard)

...I just need that to get through the checkout process.

That's a great suggestion that I could get behind.

However, that would require significant developer time to implement.  Essentially, when a customer adds an item to their cart, the EVGA ERP system would have to be sophisticated enough to "reserve" the inventory, so that it can not be serviced to other customers.  That means additional service calls/transactions, etc.  At the end of the day, after all the cost related to the coding effort, testing, dev ops, etc, what has EVGA gained ultimately?  Really, nothing.  Because those cards were going to sell anyways.

So from a business case perspective, no way this functionality gets implemented.

Yeah it's bad all the time, but if your credit card decides it might not be legit, even a 1 minute check and approve by SMS is horrible.

Would take an hour to sell a few cards then as the stock would keep yoyoing as people hold it and wait for something else to come into stock in another browser.

This or people trying to set up other addresses so they can get more than one card.

Its not as complex as you're making it seem...

Most modern ERP systems have built-in functionality that enables this to take place. After all, they have to be able to manage thousands of carts in real-time, and earmark supply while doing so. So unless EVGA is leveraging a legacy ERP system, then its a matter of choice, not ability. So what if someone has to create a story and assign a sprint or 2 to get this done? Isn't EVGA a tech company??

What is gained? How about differentiating yourself from the herd by providing a superior customer experience? One that will spread throughout the industry and gain you a certain reputation that will increase site visits, conversion, and ultimately market share - the real driver for most tech companies.

Instead, Im growing frustrated, and will boycott companies that put profits over loyal customers.

I personally qualified for their "ELITE" member program... and what did that get me? Nothing! Just frustration and time-waste over trying to acquire one of their products... I definitely feel "ELITE"

Its really just a marketing play, with nothing "ELITE" about it...

end of rant

PS. I still want a 1080....
