Yep. I've watched that video twice today. Some very good information in it.

Wow, so it looks to me like the 1080 is starved for power. Hopefully EVGA adds an extra power connector so water cooling really opens up the OC potential!

not really starved for power, but the cooling solution is an issue, I will suspect with super crazy overclocks we are going to see someone with a hacked pcb with higher output vregs plugged into the card...

Looks like the blower is working fine to me as long as you run the fan at a higher speed to keep gpu from reaching its throttle point. 57C on the stock blower is awesome imo.

It is until you see the clock and voltage throttling. Need a custom fan profile for it. Its that or slap a liquid cooler on top and lower temps big time removing all of the throttling issues, and probably a higher overclock as long as the liquid cooler can keep up with getting the heat out.

100% fan + custom vbios to eliminate throttling ftw.

Yeah but that noise ugh... most dont want a jet engine taking off anymore... I still have a couple 250 CFM 120mm Delta fans sitting around... Now my PC is dead silent and cannot see myself going back to loud.

True. I run noise cancelling headphones when I play my games so blowers are just fine for me.

That's a 57C delta.  So 80+C absolute (unless you've got the AC cranked.)

    CPU: i7 5820k
GPU: 970 SC (soon to be 1080 ACX)
    Displays: BenQ W7000, HTC Vive
    Storage: 2x 1TB SSD's, 2x 300GB Velociraptors and a 3TB 7200 RPM drive (no RAID)
    RAM: 32GB

Oh. Well in that case he didn't turn up the fan. A Titan X at 100% fan speed will sit in the mid 50's. Pretty sure 1080 will do the same or better.

I am not jumping on this wagon. Looks to me to many hurdles to jump for 2% frame rate increase. Lets see what Evga pulls out of the Majic Hat ! My main reason to wait for the final die refresh, first cards are always troublesome and Slower.

The Founders Edition blower cooler is Gimped!  Its Thermal Throttling and Choking up when you try and overclock it.  Sure it will run for 5 or 10 mins overclocked but once it heats up the GPU craps the bed.
The overclocks with a water cooler are very stable but still the Founders Edition is limited by power with its single 8 Pin PSU power input.

No, and you dont want to.  Because the hybrid water cooled 1080 will have better power then the Founders Edition.

i almost be tempted to do this, except it appears to keep the VRAM blower intact you have to face the hoses towards to the front of the card. I can't see that working in a case, especially with two of them.

There is already a full water block available for the FE 1080. I expect that a hybrid kit explicitly made for the 1080 will be available soon, as there is one for the 980ti.

Yep. Couple of them (custom blocks). I have a few reservations about that though.

You'd have to purchase a pump, fittings, hoses, radiator and fan with a custom block. Not sure it's worth it for the FE because I think it's going to be pretty voltage limited with the on 8 pin socket.

I already have a couple of extra 980Ti AIO pumps so it wouldn't be a stretch to put them on a FE 1080 or 2, but those hoses...can't see a way to make that work, can you? I'd be interested in others' opinions.
