Wondering what exactly is considered good/optimal temps for GDDR6 and also curious to what people are getting. I'm getting 64-72C MEM on my 2080Ti FTW3 card while VRMs stay at around 45-50C and GPU temp rarely hits 76C at full load.

I have two banks of memory that have reached up to 72 degrees under load as well.

My target wattage only reads 36w as well. My card isn't OC as high as it did an hour ago, but I definitely think x1 is a bit wonky at this time however.

I'm not sure the OC scanner is working right or maybe I don't understand it properly

Max allowed is 95c. Anything under that would be good.

thank you, that is comforting. i was just wondering if maybe there was poor contact on the effected memory. Figured id atleast compare my results.

Not so comforting for me. Though it is true that the components are rated for 95c, running a card at 90c for hours isn't good.
What I want to know is the safe temperatures for 24/7 usage, even if I won't use it for 24/7 I want to know the safe temperatures for a prolonged time.

That's relieving. I'll be taking apart the card next week and repasting and using my leftover fujipoly extremes to hopefully lower the mem temps.

While running furmark with a +140 Mhz on the GPU and +700 Mhz on the memory. The first memory bank is running at 49 degrees, the second memory bank is running at 82 degrees, and the third memory bank is running at 79 degrees.

All 3 fans are running at 100%.

That's crazy. It's almost as if they forgot to put thermal pads on the other memory banks... I'll take apart mine this Sunday and see what exactly is going on. I was thinking about OCing until I saw the temps and running stock made me worry because it's running so high.

That does make you think that something is up when the first mem bank is running nice and cool and the other two are running hot. Definitely let us know what you find from the tear down.

Don't forget when you start loading the full package, Tensor and RT cores included.  Still would like to see some tests and thermals done with its completely on full load.

It seems like the same problem with my 1080ti FTW3, MEM2 and PWR4 which is in the other side of the PCB run like 20c over the rest of the components on a few specific games or a few specific mining algorithms.

Has me a little concerned here since nobody from EVGA has chimed in on this thread.  I have one on order and hope any issues are fixed.

My card is out of control. Ive called and set up an RMA.

Fans work when they want, sometimes not at all. Sometimes they turn off and on and off and on every minute.
Memory Temps are out of CONTROL.

One of my memory banks was @ 91 degrees just now.  Your new RMA'd card is goi9ng to do the same thing - you're  wasting your time and money.
It's the fan control not working.

does it without PX1 also.  Im just doing what customer service is suggesting, I didnt ask for an RMA. I called them this morning and told them what im going through. I havent been able to play any games with out them crashing on me for longer than 20 minutes or so either.
Ill be reinstalling my GTX1080 today.

Ive done everything I can, including formating hard drives and re installing windows, restoring my MOBO bios to stock and removing all OC, reflashed my GPU bios, and tried all versions of PX1, just so there was no question. Ive been watching the forums and following any guidance given from Jacob and Saijin

That is the spec MAX temp to run at stock speeds. Definitely very hot for any type of overclocking. And running memory hot you lose efficiency and draw more power. It is a terrible situation. There is no reason memory on any modern card should be going above 50C. If it is, there is definitely a cooling issue.

Are the XC Ultras having this same memory temp issue? Wonder if the FTW3 heat sink is designed improperly.

What’s crazy is I bought the FTW3 specifically for the best air cooling you can get.

Yeah right, it’s actually the worst between the fan issues and this!

    Re: GDDR6 FTW3 operating temperatures? Sunday, October 28, 2018 4:28 PM (permalink)
So I was about to take apart my card while looking at updates on people's temps. I feel that I'll hold off and wait for EVGA for a response on this matter now since this could turn into a big problem i.e. 10XX series cards blowing up VRMs a few years ago. I opted for the 10 year warranty and advanced RMA for this reason alone and totally no regrets in case I do have to use it in the next few weeks.

I've been monitoring my temps every time I game, I'm afraid to OC it due to the mem being so hot already at stock temps I'm seeing an average of 78C on the 2 memory banks while all 3 fans running at around 75% and my GPU at around 74C at full load boosting to 1920Mhz. It's unfortunate that @streetglide420 has all those problems where his FTW3 is rendered unstable now due to the temps and was advised to RMA...

I also checked my drawer and realized that my fujipolys have dried out, so I went ahead and bought some more and since they're so expensive I'm just going to put it on the memory banks at this point since all parts of the card never hits over 75C which definitely shows there is a problem here.

I am seeing the same thing guys in my 2080 Ti FTW3, just checked the temps. This is with using automatic fan control with a slightly more aggressive fan curve:

Card at idle - all looking good at idle:

Card at load whilst gaming in DCS - combat flight sim:

Two memory chips running pretty warm, and as you can tell from GPU temp card was overall running pretty cool and not stressed to much.

So do I have reason to be very concerned on this quite pricey card for these two memory chip temps?
Two memory chips running almost 30c warmer than the other one...

I think we need some feedback from EVGA soon on this, at least put minds at ease one way or the other.

I was wanting to sell my 1080 Ti FTW3 but may be wise to hold off a short bit and make sure everything going to be ok here.
