What do folks expect the minimum PSU wattage requirement (assuming no OC) to be for the Titan?  I guess the TDP value of 250W is an indicator (50W less than that of the 690).  Is 600W a pretty good bet?  I know the rail amperage is even more important (hopefully not requiring beyond 40A @ 12V).

In the link
http://www.hardwareluxx.d...-way-sli.html?start=10

The test system is a i7-3960X Oced to 4.2, Asus P9X79 Deluxe Mobo, ADATA 4x 2GB RAM, ADATA 60GB SSD, Windows 8 Pro 64bit, SeaSonic Plat 1000w

At idle a single Titan in that setup is running 104.4 w, a Tri setup is idling at 133.2

Under Load we're seeing 367.8 for a single Titan and at Tri its hitting 727.8w

So for a single Titan 600W is a bit overkill/enough.

Thanks!  I completely bypassed those power ratings (instead skipping to the more obvious German cognate for temperature), missing the obvious "watt" unit at the bottom of those graphs. ;)

"Now read this very carefully, the board partners like MSI, EVGA and others get to decide whether or not you may unlock Voltage control. Inside the NVIDIA driver you can opt to unlock Voltage by agreeing to an EULA. That EULA will try to make you understand that applying higher voltages will decrease the lifespan of the product. So if the GeForce GTX Titan has been built for a theoretical 5 years productivity at 1.162 mV then tweaking the Voltage towards 1.250 mV could (in theory) halve that lifespan. Now here's the good news; unlocking the Voltage will not result in losing your warranty, let me be very clear about that. However, if you have a 2 year warranty and after 3 years the card dies as a result of voltage tweaking and thus the reduced lifespan... that would be the consequence and at your risk."

http://www.guru3d.com/art...eview_reference,4.html

I will be purchasing MINE from whichever of these companies does not lock down voltages.  I honestly don't care who it is and I don't think anyone else will either.  Honestly, for a thousand dollars you darned well better allow me to over-volt it.

I remember distinctly being lied to about who had the final say in the 680 debacle by a certain board partner *cough*  At least we know this time around.

Just watched linus videos, and well looks like 660ti sli is as good, sometimes better for way cheaper... Doesn't look that great to be honest.

This is the one I have been waiting for:

http://www.guru3d.com/art..._way_sli_review,1.html
Multi Monitor + 3 way SLI

Bullet points on final page:

  • Our recommendation as such is simple, with a single monitor setup like 1920x1080/1200 your maximum number of GTX Titan cards should be a maximum of one.
  • Now, if you have that nice 30" monitor with a 2560x1440 or 2560x1600 resolution, that's where a 2nd card could matter.
  • Once you reach multi monitor gaming. If you're going to be using 3 monitors at 5760x1080/1200 that's where a 3rd card would make some sense. Realistically though two are already sufficient  (<--Sufficient, who wants sufficient? ;)  JU )

I wonder if reference titans is all we'll see given low volume nature or some non refs with more overvoltage headroom are possible. That empty space for extra 8pin on PCB asks for such :)

Also looking at this page, where among features are mentioned titan and GF 6XX. Wonder how long will it take for release of cards themselves.

Speculation was that we would see non reference, but on down the road.  For reference, most agreed that the release will  be like the 690, limited at first and then plentiful.  I think I may just hold off this time to see the non-reference items.  Should be pretty exciting.

Re:First NVIDIA GeForce Titan 780 Performance Numbers Revealed 2013/02/21 08:39:20 (permalink)
So After all the reviews we have a card that is 25% Faster than the GTX680 at Twice the cost, slower than A GTX690 but priced the same as the GTX690 was on launch Date. Also its slower Than a 7970 but almost twice the cost, Slower than a pair of 660GTX TI in most test.

So what do we gain is the single fastest CPU at twice the market value wrapped in metal so we can pay a hefty premium. If I had money to blow, a credit line I wanted to pay off for the next 12 months or just a big E-peen so I can brag It would be the card to buy. But realisticly I just be better off buying another GTX680 FTW+ and calling it day until it goes down in price.

Thanks Nvidia for producing a card that most people will want to buy, but nobody can afford. Thank you for sticking to us, so see ya until the 700 series comes out.

I strong believe in this card like something best in last few years.
Performance compare to GTX680 is excellent and I can beg card will OC excellent, people will pull almost GTX690 performance maybe from this after few drivers and on non reference models.
People who have money... little mATX case for one card this is something best... I can't explain...
In other hand message for NVIDIA Greeding is not good characteristic, drive people... your fans one year, with locked cards, many people talk weaker than AMD but 150$ expensive only because you have now more fans and now this for such price...
Now NVIDIA can afford that because they have what to offer but one day people will revenge for greed when they don't have so good times.
But I expect soon better offers and little cheaper for reference card but than real monster will cost much more...

Because I have the freedom of speech, because this is a forum on discussion, because I am upset at the cost of this card and I want to share my frustration. Do not get me wrong this an awesome card my only issue is the price vs performance vs other cards that all.

I wish that deep down other people will share in my frustration and ban this card, I wish that we as smart consumesr see the price has irrational and that we tack a stand and do not buy this card so that it will fail and they will be forced to lower the cost to a reasonable price tag. Because yes I am jealous that I will not be able to purchase this card because of the cost.

Thats all and that is why I share my opinion.

I was hoping it would have 50 to 75% of the 680 as an increase.  With OCing get to near 690 levels. For those who want a sff build i see this as awesome. That is where the price will justify the expensive to me.  Toting this card to a lan party will definately be a beast.   Be that as it is it is still a let down to me as I am not in the sff area.

I have to agree, I am a little underwhelmed with the performance compared to price. Dont get me wrong, this card is powerful, but not powerful enough to justify the price tag. If they knocked off a hundred or two, I would say that would be a more reasonable offering for what is obtained from the hardware. Just my opinion.

You guys are right, I apologize - I did not intend to come across so opinionated myself.

I love open discussion, but I've been in this game long enough to know that for everyone that rationalizes and realizes it is a rip-off in many aspects..... It is still sold out. lol Same deal every series - we expected more, got less, and got charged more....

Point being they set this price because they knew it would sell.

My only gripe is the price as well, looking at all benchmarks and numbers, $850 would have logically been the fairest, but that is not how business works.
For me personally, I will probably get one, but I will use it for 4 years lol

Soo...... I was really hoping to see nice numbers and I must say I am very sad atm..

Numbers are nowhere near what I expected for a card that costs $1000... I think I will just wait for the refresh version as this one is too expensive to justify the cost. I game at 2560x1600 and was hoping this card would be able to handle Crysis 3 maxed out for me to enjoy the game at its fullest potential and it seems like i would be better of selling my GTX 580 Ultra Classified and picking up 2x 7970's or 2x 680's to get better performance.

So as my Friend Tank would say....

Trust me I have already thought about selling my GTX680 FTW+, pawning some stuff, selling my kidney or first born depending on market value just so I could have one.

I am not sure 25% improvement is worth the $500+ premium either (I was on the brink of grabbing a 680).  Decisions, decisions (all I have now is Intel on-board video in the form of that meager Intel 4000 chip).
