Apologies if this is the wrong section to post this.

Having realized purchasing a card relatively quickly is only possible thru a complete system purchase, I’m left wondering what happens if any future problems pop up with the GPU.

I’m especially concerned with the relative high number of reports of failed 3090 cards.

Can one even purchase extended warranty on GPUs purchased as such?


Edit: One clarification to add, the place of purchase is an EVGA reseller, which is why I’m wondering about the extended warranty options.

    You most likely can’t purchase extended warranty for the gpu since you’re not the original owner. However you can most likely purchase extended warranty for your entire pc through whoever built your pc.

    Forgot add (edited the OP now), the system builder is an EVGA reseller, so I’m hoping extended warranty might still be an option.

    My friend bought a built system from a local pc store who is an authorized EVGA reseller and was able to purchase the extended warranty for his card. 
     
    He just wasn't able to do the step up though since the guidelines of the step up don't allow for step up of gpus from prebuilt pcs.

    It mostly depends on the suffix of the part number for the graphics card in the system. Most cards that come from system integrators are going to have a part number ending in -BR, which only have a one-year warranty and are not eligible for extended warranty. But if the card used in your system has a part number ending in -KR, you should still be able to purchase extended warranty.

    Since micro center employee said “we have a card but only for system build and not retail sale.”, I assume it is the former.
