There's an eVGA Z590 Dark with my name on it.

I know this to be true because I am 100% buying one. lol

That board with a Kingpin plugged in to it... all that bare copper.

So looking forward to it.

Planning the same build—10900k plus z590 dark. kinda sad I'll have to drop to 2 DRAM slots tho :/

I'm planning to pick up a Trident Z Royal Gold-style kit that's 2x16GB 4000MHz CL17 - if they're on the QVL for the board which I'm hoping they will be.  That's what I can push my current RAM to but my current kit is 3600MHz CL16 stock & it's 4x8GB.

The overall airflow of the case will benefit the Z590 Dark layout more than my current one... of course that's about to change once I get that liquid loop in (hopefully today it'll arrive so I can measure, assemble, and begin leak testing outside the case).

I think they'll look spiffy with the bare copper on the board & the Kingpin probably vertically mounted, and RGB stuff set to Gold/copper color, if I can actually find an RGB controller since the Z590 Dark has no RGB headers:

Good point—I have 4x16gb trident z rgb 3200 C14 but it does not OC very far (at least with 4 sticks). Plus, OCing ram takes so dang long I'd rather just buy a top-binned kit once and save the time. Also, no RGB headers—is this 2012? If you find something good, please let me know!

Re: Sneak peak at A New Generation of Excellence, EVGA Z590 Motherboards 2021/02/18 16:22:13 (permalink)
Yeah my current RAM needs 1.43V to run 4000MHz CL17-17-17-38 with fairly decent secondaries/teritary timings.  Decent but not excellent, but I also don't wanna go past 1.45V as a personal preference even though I believe up to 1.5V on RAM on Z390/DDR4 at least is acceptable for daily use.

The sticks I'll be aiming for are these: https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-32gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820374009?Item=N82E16820374009 and they run 1.4V, so I really hope they're on the QVL or at least work on the Z590 Dark with just enabling XMP...

My current RAM, despite being on my motherboard's QVL list, I actually have to manually set some of the lesser-messed with timings, because otherwise it sets them wrong & that results in random crashes of stuff sometimes, especially if I'm running 4000MHz.

Maybe we'll get lucky & G.Skill & other other brands will put out slightly higher end sticks when Z590 officially is in full swing (once the 11xxx-series Intel CPUs are out).  I just don't want to run less than 32GB, so a 2x16GB kit is my only option if I'm going Z590 Dark... which I definitely am, cuz currently by the end of March, I'll have enough eVGA Bucks saved up thanks to folks using my Associate's Code to at least pay for half the motherboard cost.

Hmm, board looks yummy! I just got a z390 for my 9900k and 8700k. I didn't buy the ten core, because the socket change for literally nothing new. But I would like to buy this board, then could decide which cpu to get for it. 10900k or the 11900k depending on reviews of the new chip. I would love a rough estimate of release window for the z590 Dark.

I missed out on the 10900k for $409 on Newegg, if I had seen the when they were in stock, I probably would have bought it.

I ended up going with the new 'extreme' low latency G.Skill 3600CL14. DDR4-3600 CL14-15-15-35
They have versions of TridentZ (Neo, RGB, Royal) and Ripjaws.  The RGB is what I was able to find available, so I scooped some up in anticipation of the new build.

Edit: I tried to post the links to their announcement article and newegg, but apparently I'm not cool enough to add links or something...

I'm only running 3600C18  But at least the sticks are 32GB each

They are 16GB sticks, and have already been released. The 32GB kit cost me about $320...

That's more than what I paid for the 64GB kit but it obviously makes sense. 1600C14 is admn sweet.
Just saw that EVGA is running a steep discount on the SR-3. I already felt bad for paying more than $400 for a board when I got the Z490 Dark.
Would love to take the SR-3 for a spin though

Damn. I tried to find some recently and everything was out of stock, ended up getting 2x16GB 4000MHz C19 Corsair Dominator Platinums.. for $500. Nice memory, but really expensive.

Intel Chips will be for sale in 3 weeks, I can already buy Asus, Gigabyte, MSI and others but not even a word when EVGA will be available. It seems like EVGA will be late to the party again, unfortunate...

Think of it this way, if everyone buys the other brands. Less competition for us EVGA buyers :D

Fiting is one thing, whether you want yo deal with it another.
I think both should fit, but since the Dark is E-ATX, it'll be much wider than what the O11D Mini is designed to house.
My Z490 Dark is inside a Phanteks Evolv X and even that case certainly would be a better fit for the Z490 FTW (or the other way round).
Had to buy a low profile USB 3.0 extension to make everything fit "nicely" (the front USB ports work with USB sticks now, but behave weirdly with my external SSD).

I asked Jacob on Monday in Twitch, he again said probably April for release. Generally that is when you can "pre-order" by getting on the notify queue.

This feels like a stupid question, but I'll go ahead and ask anyway.

The 6-pin power connector on the bottom-left of the Dark board: is that extra PCI-e power? Does it take the 6-pin cable that would otherwise go to a "VGA" plug from my modular power supply? I'm assuming this is for added overclocking power, but I'm wondering if it adds stability even at lower overclocks or if it's only for extreme use-cases. I haven't had a board with this capability before so I wanted to ask before I try to by one

From the EVGA z490 Dark manual page 18:
"8. Supplemental PCIe6-pin Power ConnectorThere is a 6-pin PCIeconnector at the bottomof the motherboard (See Page 41for more specifics to the connector itself, and associated wiring/pinouts). This connector provides dedicated power to the PCIex16 slots, augmenting the +12V power provided by the 24-pin and the GPU directly. This is optional for a single card solution, but is recommended for SLI, CFX, and dual-processor video cards."

I don't want to be Mr. Doom and Gloom but based on very early benchmarks, people probably wont be flocking to get the 11the gen chips anyway

Hoping to be proven wrong.

Yup so far benchmarks show 11 series as a dud sidegrade. I just want PCIE 4.0, if I could do that with a 9900K I wouldn't be looking for an "upgrade." Also considering the 5800X now instead because it's available, has PCIE 4 and beats the 11700K in gaming. Hell the 10700K and 9900K beat the 11700K in gaming benchmarks, just check out the Anandtech review.

I mean I’m expecting world shattering performance either but I think when actually released they’ll be the best gaming chips. I’ve been in the market for a new rig, rip gpu stock; so I hope they are not priced stupid high and can actually be purchased.

They're not, find out for yourself: https://www.anandtech.com...g-off-with-rocket-lake

11700k and 11900K are identical, slightly higher stock clocks on the 11900K, but nothing else is different about them.

Prices leaked:
11900K $599
11700K $484

Interesting they are releasing after the chips. Although probably won’t be able to get one when intel actually drops them anyways.

I meant I’m not expecting, sorry for the mistype. However I don’t trust the early benchmarks or those prices. I’ll evaluate it all in a month.
