I just received the new 3080 ftw3, i am assuming since it just came its one of the newer ones without the cap issues? Unsure how to tell. At any rate, i had 456.55 already installed from the 1080ti hybrid. Ran some quick tests to verify the new card worked (noisy at 70c but fps increase was great). I decided to install 457.09 and as a custom and clean install. Each time i try the pc crashes, black screen bios warning. I also tried default bios clock settings no change. Im running an 850 watt seasonic focus psu the MSI Unify z490 Meg motherboard and 10900k cpu. Anyone else ran into this?

There's a few factors here I'd look at. First, whenever swapping GPU cards I'd recommend doing a DDU to remove the drivers and install new drivers. I don't think that will fix your problem. I speculate your problem is with your PSU and it is not able to handle the transient spikes of the 3080/3090 cards. I'm looking at the list of known PSU that work and I do not see your listed. https://forums.evga.com/W...-WORKING-m3118557.aspxI would recommend exploring more on your PSU and see if others have had success with it and the 3080.

The cap issue shouldn't be an issue. However, you can verify that you have the 4+2 implementation by looking at the back of your card. In between the black metal "square" you should see 4 black capacitors surrounding the 2 banks of 10 smaller capacitors: https://images.evga.com/p...0G-P5-3897-KR_XL_9.png

Actually, i worked around the issue for now, will see if the PSU is an issue though. What i did was booted to safe mode, uninstalled the nvidia driver from apps and features. Then rebooted back into safe mode, ran the latest installer and no black out / crash this time. The odd thing is, since i changed to the 3080 from 1080 hybrid, now my cpu is overheating compared to before, about 10c higher, cant figure out why, perhaps the hybrids fan as an exhaust on the rear did a lot more than the 120 fan i put in place of it (exhaust as well).

The only issue i'm having now is that for some reason my overclock temps have gotten quite bad, even after putting the 1080ti back in play, that ruled the card out anyway.

Well, temps have been fine since the other day (not sure what happened but the cooler is working fine again), but now i'm plagued with random bsod's. nvlddmkm.sys PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA 0x00000050 I've gone through in safe mode and did the DDU too, thinking maybe it was the driver, but i keep getting this, either randomly during use or if the pc sleeps, when it comes back on it reboots instantly and the last error was this one. **I also retried the driver installer and did the clean option (while the same newer one was on there), again it shuts off the pc then boots to bios recovery each time, i did this on my test bare windows 10 image as well (had a previous driver on that one). Event logs show The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000007e Side note that my power supply is this one : https://www.amazon.com/gp...Z/ref=ask_ql_qh_dp_hza

Bugcheck code: 0x50 points to faulty RAM or incorrectly set RAM timings, Frequency or voltage within the BIOS. It could also indicate that your cpu imc needs to have its voltage boosted due to running ram over the imc’s rated value of 2933 MHz.
0x7E = Corrupted OS file, possibly from overclocking. Run sfc /scannow and chkdsk /r.

Interesting hadnt considered the ram angle. I did order a 1000 watt psu just in case, but hopefully wont end up being the issue and need it. I had everything stable overclock wise, p95 for 18 hours, ran every other stress test etc, never any issues with the 1080ti. IMC wise its all on auto, i forget what volts it gets to, but it wasnt super excessively high. I wouldnt think the overclock is related to the power fail on driver update, as i did reset back to bios defaults and it still occurred.. only time i didnt get this issue is if i did DDU then ran the driver package (unplugged lan cable on reboot from safe mode). checkdisk revealed no errors, also had no errors on sfc scannow I guess to rule things out i could lower the ram settings to default (2133)/auto, non xmp. Wish i had a quick way to test it, realbench for 45 mins was fine, but past few days it was random on the bsod, sometimes fine for an hour or two gaming wise. Also ran an older 3dmark and newer furmark with no issues.

Just an update, it was suggested in another thread, that going back to 456.71 driver would cure the sleep issue and bsods. So far i'm happy to say it has (even trying ram at defaults with cpu at defaults with that newest driver didnt). Its pulling a ton of (expected) watts though, 10900k 1.339 load 5.1ghz with 43" lcd and peripherals im sitting around 705 watts.
