Now price of RTX2080 will be lower because people know for 699$ worth RTX3080 with great performance.
I bought a GTX1080Ti for 550 euro with 25 months of warranty only because people didn't want to pay 100-200 euro less than new RTX2080.
But the situation was much better for people who want to buy the old series because the performance of new was too close.
Now people will crave for the performance difference between the RTX3080 and RTX2080Ti, don't even to talk about 699$ RTX3080 vs more expensive RTX2080. It's far more than 60% faster. In some fast research, I saw 50% difference between RTX3080 and 1400 EURO worth Turing.
That's NVIDIA we used to. Not only RTX, but pure performance is also here.
I will need to satisfy with used RTX3090 in 2022. This time I will look for some reference models to buy Hydro Copper or Watercool.de waterblock...
I spent a lot of money buying branded new cloth...mostly Italian REPLAY, DIESEL, some LEVI'S, NAPAPIJRI jacket... 3000-3500 euro to upgrade old cloth. I didn't buy anything for 10 years, all money I spent on the computer.
And now I used this time because Turing was not attractive and Intel didn't have an interesting platform.
Better to wait for something better than to invest in Ryzen and Turing.
Anyway I didn't figure out how to buy 600$ worth monitor, 32" 4K 60fps, before that using RTX3080 or RTX3090 on 1080p is joking.
GTX1080Ti is almost enough for everything on that...
I mean that's not GTX1080Ti, that's the performance of NVIDIA RTX2080 Founders without RTX but with more video memory.
The best situation for buying second-hand GPU is when new series have a small performance boost. Worse moment for buying second hand will be now.
When you almost buy the performance of GTX1080Ti with second-hand Turing instead available 3080 40-50% faster for 750 euro.
How much could cost then RTX2080 second hand... 400 max, if you can add 300$ for more than 60% stronger GPU.
