This is a really nice card, extremely well constructed - the 2.5 slot design fits my top slot without blocking lower cards on my X299 FTW K. Even with an aggressive fan curve I cannot hear it. Although at 100% fan speed I definitely can!

72C at 2070MHz GPU and a +1100MHz on the VRAM (in Mafia III) with very minimal time spent tweaking thus far. Almost as good of an overclocker as my old 1080 (non-Ti) under water!

Now, I didn't look too closely when I installed this, but does this card have multiple BIOSs? It just seemed strange that it's limited to 117% power, while lower model 2080 non-supers have a 130% BIOS. I get that the starting point matters too, so a 250W card at +17% would be 292.5W, whereas a 215W card at +30% is 280W.

Thank you for that link! Great post in there from Sajin (I wasn't sure that the FTW3 be cross-compatible): https://forums.evga.com/FindPost/3058511

The card doesn't have dual vbios.

So another question:

I was going to take off the XC cooler and use a G10 bracket with a Kraken X41, but the backplate seemed to be stuck near the rear (IO being the front, at least for me). I was getting some play wiggling it back and forth laterally, thinking that it was just a heatpad or something keeping it on, but it just didn't want to come off. All of the small backplate screws were removed, the GPU retention screws were out, and I even removed the IO shield.

What am I missing?

I've tried looking it up online, and there aren't any tear down videos for the XC line. Closest is the FTW3, and my card didn't come apart easily like that.

Anyone out there with an idea as to why I can't remove my 2080 Super XC Ultras heatshink/shroud?

Did you get the screw behind the EVGA sticker?

The EVGA tamper sticker? Yes.

Follow this video as it should be the same for your GPU.  Hopefully you've gotten every screw and if you did, than you just might need a slight twist if you will to get the heatsink off from the thermal paste/pad.  Just make sure you've disconnected the cable prior.

They sometimes can be stubborn coming off.

Also, I think going with a AIO cooling solution is a great idea.  They already have a G12 bracket but not sure what the difference is between that and the G10 you currently have.

Wow. That just popped right off in that video. I applied way more force and it didn't come off.

So, I'll try again. Who knows, maybe I missed a screw on the back plate even though I looked it over 2 inches from my face 4 times, ha!

The G10 is the same as a G12 as far as I know. The fan shroud and fan may be a little different, but the mounting stuff should be nearly identical.

Got it! Sort of. The cooler is off at least, with that G10 and Kraken X41 now installed.

The back plate wasn't going to come off easily, but the front plate was wide enough for my Kraken X41's cold plate. The retention screws weren't long enough with the backplate, so I removed the foam and the nuts from the bracket holder.

46C right now looping 4K Valley, sitting at 2115MHz where before it would drop down to 2055 at 73C (same overclock settings). The VRAM is a beast on the card at +1250MHz (or just undwrclocked from the factory).

I noticed in your modrigs you have a Kraken X61 and X72.  If possible, I'd swap one of those instead of the X41 on the GPU.

X72 on the CPU, and the X61 doesn't keep these big GPUs as cool due to where I have to put it next to my 8 spinners. I've tried with a 1080 Ti.

I'd swap that X72 from CPU to GPU because the GPU will be the workhorse unless you don't game much and rather do a lot of CPU intensive tasks.
