Has anyone ever had success in getting evga to cover components a psu damaged. Psu went out and fried cpu 6850k and msi x99 titanium moboard. All componets ran fine for 3 years till psu died so extremely likely psu cause damaged

Was the PSU also made by EVGA? For this query please contact EVGA technical support.

Ya the 1000 G2 is an evga psu, I already called and they weren't of much help. Seeing if any end users have had any success in the matter. They RMA'd the psu it once I got it back I notice the damage to the other components

That would be kind of hard to prove what part caused what damage but that being said very few manufacturers are going to cover components damaged other then there own.

I've never heard of anyone successfully convincing EVGA to replace other company's components under warranty, regardless of how much evidence you have that an EVGA component is what caused the other components to fail.  It's unheard of.  I believe it is specifically exempted in EVGA's warranty terms as well.  I think the only way you could do it is through a lawsuit; and who would want to go that route?

Ya that is the problem, how do you prove it. I mean a cpu and motherboard frying a psu is almost impossible but not the other way around. Really I was just wondering if anyone had success, EVGA has actually been great when it comes to their own products I've had 2 gpus and a psu fail from them and they rma'd all three without a problem so was just wondering if the'd be that company that goes a little above and beyond

You might want to ask your Homeowners or Renters insurance company.  Depending on your coverage & deductible ... damaged electronic from power surges might be covered .... If your using a UPS or power strip .. they may also have some sort of "coverage"

Gamers Nexus just did a video on power supply manufacturing.

“Extremely likely” is not a good reason to blame the power supply. Motherboard use to pull too much power and burn out the cables on motherboards. It is possible that a power surge at home could have lead to the issues, or something for inside of your power supply, which gamersnexus directly mentions in the video which is why I referenced it. Typically the power supply failure isn’t a common issue, so you have to have undeniable proof for any company to cover other components.

Again, “extremely likely” is not definitive.

Sorry to hear that. I've also had an evga 1600w t2 burn out two of my motherboards.

Note: EVGA doesn't make their own power supplies they are made by someone else. The 1600w T2 is made by super flower.

That was a good read, board was on latest bios but the 6850k was always running at 4.3. Ordered a new board so once that in I'll take a look at the vrms

I still feel the PSU went and cause the damage, but hard to prove exactly and really just heard the click so either maybe it died to try and save everything else. Hoping the ram. Is ok 128gb is a lot to lose haha. Went with the asus ws e board and 6950k to replace damaged parts

You are correct, most PSU companies clearly state in their warranties that they are not liable & for very good reasons. I will give you a good example of why they don't cover external damage. I will also give you clear reasons why you do not enlist the aid of lawyers to enact a lawsuit because it is NOT worth it over a damaged computer system :)

I have run our outsourced backup business successfully for 45+ years with 68+ employees. We have over 5100+ clients. Several of our clients over the decades have had issues, at different times & unrelated, with power surges, lightening strikes, etc. that have blown not only their PSU but also several components on their motherboards. Everyone was quick to blame the PSU as the guilty & faulty culprit but we could NOT justify that until we contacted our own company accountants who suggested we contact our lawyers. They did all the legwork/research & in order to perform any successful lawsuit, we would require forensic analysis of the item by certified personnel otherwise the suit would fail in court. Bottom line was that the first time such an incident occurred, we had to send the system to the motherboard manufacturer for analysis. It was NOT cheap. One incident had several components on the motherboard fried due to the lightening strike & thus a massive influx of power that damaged everything (cpu, video card, psu, etc.). Was not the PSU at fault. That analysis cost our client over $62,000 (not including lawyer fees)

Another incident was a faulty, inferior component on the motherboard itself that caused a surge & short that fried the CPU & video card & several other components. Again not cheap for the analysis.

I could go through a whole list of issues but suffice to say that PSU's for the last few decades rarely break motherboards & their components. It is usually something attached to the PSU that broke either by a short or just inferior quality. We've had broken traces on motherboards that took years to finally let go & damage the system. Bottom line is there is too much after the PSU that could be faulty & until it goes back to the OEM for forensic analysis ( on your dime), it is better to find another solution.
