I am switching from ASUS Radeon 390x to EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 Black GAMING (08G-P4-1071-KR) 8GB GDDR6 Dual Fan 1620 MHz Boost, 14000 MHz Memory Clock PCI-E 3.0, HDMI 2.0b, 2xDP1.4, DVI, USB Type-C

Motherboard: ASUS M5A97  (Yes Bios is updated to the latest... which is from 2015 but)
CPU: AMD FX 9800 Eight Core
Windows 7 x64

I tried booting in safe mode,
doing a clean removal of all Radeon drivers,
3 different monitors, different HDMI cables and DVI as well.
1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (blue)
1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode, black)

i tried it in both of those slots as well

My other video card, no issues at all.

Is this thing dead? I noticed at one point the fans stopped spinning?!!

Since I can't even get into Bios when this GPU is installed and I can't install GeForce drivers without.. it.. being... installed. what the hell am I supposed to do?
I also tried letting Windows just run for 30 minutes in the background even with no video. Thinking maybe it would detect it and install the basic windows hardware for it.
But nothing...

Welcome to the Forum
Is the Bios Up to date on the Motherboard?
Put the Radeon back in and uninstall all the Radeon (AMD Graphics Software)
Then Restart in Safe Mode and run DDU
Shut down the Computer
Remove the Radeon Graphics Card
Power On Computer go into the Bios and set the Default Saved Restart enter back into the Bios
Power Off the Computer
Install the NVIDIA Graphics Card (1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (blue)) Next to the CPU Socket on the Motherboard.
Power On the Computer and enter into the Bios
Can your see the NVIDIA Graphics Card in your Bios?

Use Only ONE Monitor

If you cannot see it in the Bios you are not going to be able to use the RTX Graphics Card on your Motherboard.
To the LEDs on the Graphics Card turn on? Never Mind your card has none. LED Logo: N/A

Contact ASUS and see what they say.

Ah. I give up anyways. I'm going to return it. Thanks for your help.
ASUS are of no help at all especially for an older mobo.

Bummer
But that is a really Old AMD Motherboard
If it was an Intel Motherboard it may have worked ok.

I built the PC 2 years ago but didnt realize the stuff I was buying was dated already considering it was pretty expensive I spent $3000 all in on this rig.
But I am also in Canada where everything is way more expensive usually.
I guess it just wont work with this MOBO.
I really wanted to enjoy BFV more with it. Oh well. :(

You would need to update to Windows 10 1809 to play BF5
How much Memory do you have?
Also is the Graphics Card New?
Where did you buy it from?
Maybe next time you will go with an Intel Motherboard.

I realize you've already decided to send the card back, but to offer my 2 cents:  The boards i'm running 2070's in are an Asus P6T-SE (Intel x58) and Gigabyte GA-880GA-UD3H (AMD 880G).  They're even older than yours. I would offer that it's possible the GPU is DOA.  Again, you're already decided to send it back and that's a bummer but I wanted to offer some input.  Good luck on whatever card you end up getting

Was a clear CMOS performed between the 2 cards?
= Do all the software / driver removal / DDU then pull the AMD card  then install the new card - clear cmos and reboot

What were you using for a cable to power the card? What is the PSU?

SOLVED (i hope): Solution was to Clear CMOS.

Method: Took out CMOS battery, shorted terminals for 1 minute using screwdriver. Put battery back in. Started pc. Reset BIOS to defaults. Loaded into W7. Uninstalled AMD Radeon. Installed latest GeForce driver and GeForce Experience with it. Restarted.

So far so good. Im going to hook up my other monitors now. I use a HDMI splitter for my TV and second monitor which is usually have powered off anyway. Will report back if any further issues.
I restarted the PC a few times to make sure. I havent tried BFV yet with it or any other game but when I am home I will give her a full test.

Side note: I wish I knew that I couldnt use the DLSS with Windows 7 DirectX 11. Its the whole reason I wanted the card! Whatever at least I will get better fps lol.

Thank you everyone!!!!!!! I was about to take it back when I realized the one thing I didnt do was CMOS.

Tactical-Gaming, i bought an SSD for Win10 (and a License) a couple days ago so i could Dual boot Win7 and Win10. (installing Win10 for the 1st time.)

2 days ago i discovered https://www.tenforums.com/
and from the https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/ page, their tutorial index page: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1977-windows-10-tutorial-index.html with thousands of everything u could want to know about Win10.

What a piece of garbage card.

I'm one black screen away from returning it.

Half the time I start the computer the screen is just black.
I literally have to unplug the card, start computer with it the gpu unplugged, then turn computer off, plug gpu back in, turn on computer for the video to show properly.
This in addition to countless FPS issues... I dunno man. I've done everything you can think of with DDU and and my temps all look normal as do my voltages and everything. I have more than enough power (1000W psu) and liquid cooled cpu. And since I've seen this problem happening with so many people. WHAT GIVES?

What a piece of garbage card.

I'm one black screen away from returning it.

Half the time I start the computer the screen is just black.
I literally have to unplug the card, start computer with it the gpu unplugged, then turn computer off, plug gpu back in, turn on computer for the video to show properly.
This in addition to countless FPS issues... I dunno man. I've done everything you can think of with DDU and and my temps all look normal as do my voltages and everything. I have more than enough power (1000W psu) and liquid cooled cpu. And since I've seen this problem happening with so many people. WHAT GIVES?

Anyways, Returned. Went back to Radeon 390x a significantly older card and instantly zero problems and better FPS. lol. Even the guy at the store said the 20 series is a "hiccup" and hes had tons of returns. Amazing. Bad words will happen when you spend $800 on something that sucks. It happens. We're all adults here.

Sorry to hear it was a return and I do understand how frustration can lead to the want to use bad language but we need to keep the forums clean. Hopefully feel that the edit wasn't to edit feedback about the card but just to take away the blacked out use of foul language.
