Yup. B&H started collecting taxes from us in our state and many others now. Currently B&H collects sales tax in New York and New Jersey only, although the online retailer also reports annual sales to local tax authorities in Colorado, Vermont and Washington State.
Starting next week, however, B&H will begin collecting sales tax in 15 more states, with plans to collect sales tax in a total of 22 states by the end of 2018.
Which 15 states will appear during the first round of additions remains to be seen; however, the total list of states in which B&H will collect sales tax by year's end will include AL, CO, CT, HI, IL, IN, KY, MD, ME, MI, MN, MS, NC, ND, NJ, NY OK, SC, SD, VT, WA and WI. This is after the Supreme Court ruled five to four in the South Dakota v. Wayfair case. Source

Retailers aren't much better than the scalpers TBH. This reminds me of when the mining boom was going on last year and the retailers were jacking up their prices along with the scalpers. Mind you the retailers weren't trying to sell as high as the scalpers, but it was pretty bad. IIRC, B&H was selling the ASUS Strix 1080 ti for $1,200... so yeah ....

While I agree, don't forget some confuse the scalpers as the retailers since they're allowed to sell on their platforms. Something tells me what we're seeing is just the beginning and this might just be the norm because scalper is big business nowadays and will only grow until companys and regulators do something about it.

Wow. I never saw it for $499. I got it for $529 at 11am est 10/8. Never knew it was listed for $499 anywhere.

Suggestion for the Future for @EVGA because you never know which delays could come up.
No Pre-Order anymore and just offer cards when you have them in stock. This will solve this problem here for the next time.

It's not a solution. The problem is not in pre-orders, but in the lack of correct information. EVGA never disclosed how many preorders they have, how many for US and EU and how many chips they're getting or cards producing per month or week. In business sense, it might be valuable to them not to disclose exact numbers, but they could've and should've been much better in communication with their customers, especially since customers are not waiting to buy, but are crediting them in full amount in advance. I've designed and delivered systems for much more complex warehousing and distribution than a gfx business requires and it's really not impossible to do that. They could use a simple and fair FIFO with a single interleaved or dual lists for US and the EU or third for Asia and Oceania and fill in orders. They could manipulate those to favor markets, but EVGA knows when they get components and knows how many cards they'll have at any point. It's relatively easy to keep customers informed on their position in line, pace of delivery and estimated shipping. They chose not to. Reasons could be multiple, but none is nice I guess.

I believe it's better to wait a few extra days, even a whole extra month for a product you're going to have for years. Even if you're going to sell it and upgrade after 1 year, the 2nd-hand warranty EVGA offers and their quality of products and support will help you sell it at a good price. ASUS in my experience and from what I hear from others too is very bad with their customer support.
