Pretty stoked to see that the Epower boards are available as for years they were unattainable. I picked one up just now for $90 off thanks to the Elite Membership. This benefit is probably useless for most members but I thought it was quite cool. I do wish they had better shipping prices though, that seems a little high.

The epower is a great way to get the best possible overclocking out of a non custom pcb. You won’t have a warranty, but if you are buying an epower, you aren’t worried about the warranty.

rjbelans It might not be for ELITE only. I wasn't logged in and it showed a $90 instant rebate when putting it in the cart (didn't actually buy it). And, be glad you're not in Canada. Shipping here sucks! Hence why many Canadians near the US border use US address services by UPS and others.
Oh... I could be mistaken then, I thought it was a result of having enrolled as an elite member. That shipping cost is crazy, no wonder US addresses are used near the border. the_Scarlet_one The epower is a great way to get the best possible overclocking out of a non custom pcb. I think it should be a fun project for this summer to get a few runs with it. With these though very good chances of breaking the cards and they're basically dead afterwards I believe. My strategy is to use it on inexpensive GPUs.

Where was this thing when I was benching? I had to solder caps and VR's to the PCB's...

I read a little about it, so how does it work exactly? How does one install it and boost their graphics card, for example? It looks interesting. Any significant drawbacks?

I guess I still don't get it. What can it do that basic overclocking can't? It just allows better voltage control? I guess that's what I'm after, what does it do so well that one would buy it?

I really don't understand what needs to be explained. Did you read the product manual? Other than a few little typos and stuff, it is extremely well explained directly from the mind of a world record level overclocker and tinkerer. It's used for extreme overclocking a video card with extreme cooling. It replaces the card's power section allowing a much wider/higher voltage range and much more watts of power delivery. See the picture above?

It doesn't. You are the preventer who takes matters into your own hands. Feel free to have a mindless spam conversation elsewhere. This is clealry not a subject for which you have any passion.

I just don't know anything about and was interested. Sorry, I offended you with my ignorance. I meant no harm. You are right, though. I am no passionate about it because I don't know anything about it. I am trying to understand the appeal. I guess it's like when they use liquid nitrogen to overclock CPUs. Its just for the fun of it. Or does this have more practical applications? Feel free to just ignore me if I'm just irritating you. Maybe someone else will answer.

Like you said, this product is always used in conjunction with extreme cooling like liquid nitrogen, or something similar. Why do people do extreme overclocking? It is a hobby. It is a rush in its own way. It is exciting. It can offer incredible highs and despairful lows. It is part of a quest for knowledge and understanding. And, if you are really knowledgable, talented, and have a good personality, you can not only own world records, but also be employed or sponsored by a component manufacture and make a living out of it.

+1 Some enjoy chasing those World Record Runs

Well, that makes sense now. I thought maybe there were other everyday applications for it. Honestly, I would do stuff like that if I could afford it. I think it's awesome. I'm genuinely impressed by people who can rig up such muscle computers. I only wish I could do it.

I know ty_ger did a lot of explaining already, but as far as significant drawbacks??? Completely non functional cards once you finish... that’s pretty significant. You literally pull the cards components off to install this, so warranty and functionality are shot forever once you finish overclocking that card.
