UPDATE: repasted using non LM paste (Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut) and also replaced the stock thermal pads with Fujipoly extreme thermal pads. ALL pads on the 1070 are 0.5mm, so keep that in mind if you are going to replace them like i did. Using thicker pads will cause improper contact issues and worsen your temps. Temps for me are down on average about 8c at idle and 12c at load on stock clocks. I found out that the section of heatsink (the section nearest the heatpipe pictured here https://i.imgur.com/nQVpeqr.jpg?1 ) over the CPU power phases wasnt making proper (or any) contact with over half of the chokes/fetts and had to be bent slightly to make sure it wouldn't be an issue in the future. (EVGA please take note as this could be a potential failure point)

Here is a pic of the heatsink assembly on the 1070 Gsync with old pads and thermal paste application: https://i.imgur.com/WEmr4SA.jpg
And here is  pic of all the components hidden by the heatsink assembly: https://i.imgur.com/BQazDBv.jpg?1

What was yr temperature before and after any screenshot? I got to test it .and compare with my set up.i use stock 2.7 at gaming and -125. -135 so temps run under 70
Also do the heatsink on nvme helps too ? I'm ok with warm right side .wsad area is my only concern and I think there is sad underneath

2.7GHz is base clocks on the 6820, stock clocks is 3.2GHz on all four cores.  By running at 2.7GHz when gaming, it is way below the 6700HQ (3.1GHz x 4 cores).  Why have a HK cpu then?

I meant the EVGA 'normal' presets of 36/34/33/32/36 and 0mv offset with gpu at +0/+0 and default fan curve when i said 'stock' above. If i wasn't careful i could at times reach TJmax and auto-shutdown or experience graphical artifacting unless i maxed out my fans while gaming/under heavy load. Now i am able to run those settings and higher without throttling. My preferred gaming settings are 36/36/36/36/36 at -60mv +35/+550 gpu and a slightly more aggressive fan curve to stay below 78c.

This product is not for sale yet, but soon. It is being sent out to testers and overclockers now.  It is a promising alternative to LM, not as good thermally speaking, but also less risky and very easy application. Graphite is electrically conductive, but since it is a pad and not liquid, there is no risk of it spilling on the circuitry one applied correctly.

Hopefully that product comes out soon. The best paste TIM that i know of is -12.5 W/mk, and these graphite pads say they are –35 W/m-K, thats a pretty impressive gain even if it is electrically conductive. The benefits of being aluminum safe make them more than worth the minimal risk.

It’s really cool to see but not sure I would risk voiding the warranty to do it. Overall again good to see all the posts of pictures and the results.
