Now I can run at 4.6GHz no problem.  Prime95 mid 80s.  Happy with the results.
Cinebench at 4.6GHz, ring 4.2GHz.

You guys are hardcore for attempting this! I'm not ready to open mine up and don't really feel the need to.

I already opened mine up for HDD swap and I sold one of my ram sticks since 32GB is too much

Hi everyone!

I'm from Germany and I'll apply "Cool Laboratory Liquid Pro" on my SC17 with GTX 1070. Are you guys interested in a documentary?

Sorry for my grammar.

Greetings

That would be awesome. I recommend CLU though on laptops instead of Pro.

I've already bought the whole Lab 🤣 (Liquid Cleaner, Liquid Pro and Liquid Metal Pads), so I'll use it. But what's the difference between them?

If you got Pro already should be fine, it is just harder to clean when repasting and tends to degrade faster than Ultra, clumps up while Ultra remains liquid.

Now I've read a lot and I won't use the CLP. Cause it's possible that you have to grind your CPU/GPU to remove the paste.

Now I'll try the Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut. - Thanks for yourrecommendation.

I guess, I start on Monday.

I'm very interested in this, too. Thanks for sharing. I'm curious how much you can push the 1070 with LM (maybe in the direction of a 1080).

It's "only" the power-led, but the notebook was bought in January and it happens at RMA.

Going to be repasting with non LM paste soon (Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut) since ive already had one major overheat on stock clocks, but want to replace the thermal pads with some Fujipoly XR-m while i have it open. Im assuming i will need 0.5mm and 1mm pads on the 1070 model. Does anyone have a pic of the 1070 model under the heatsink? I'd like to estimate how much of both types i will need and see if there are any sections using 1.5mm pads before i order.

Edit: assuming the 1070 is laid out similarly to Vistarshook's 1080 pic, looks like it uses 0.5mm on the memory modules and chokes then 1mm on the mosfets. Not sure what size the darker gray pad on the chipset is, cant tell from this angle.

I'm going to change the thermal pads too. If everything is going well, I'll change them today and I'll take some pictures. Bought 1mm pads for my 1070-version.

Just be careful not to use 1mm pads where the 0.5mm pads were. It can change the way your heatsink sits and give you worse thermals.

Prime95 running for 10min at 4.6GHz x4.  Max temp is 80C.
My core 1 is running hotter than that, but I put too little, and will redo the repaste job to get it even with the other 3 cores.

The 6820 doesn't overclock as high as the 7820.  4.2GHz is doable though, just add more voltage keeping the cache clock at stock speed.  For 4.2 try +150 or above.   4.3 is doable, depending on your chip, but only try after repasting.

Although the BIOS limits my multiplier to 46, I managed to increase it to 47x4 with ThrottleStop.

firestrike run, running at 4.8GHz.  Now next project, mod the GTX1080 TDP to 200W+ to break 24k+ graphics, since the GTX1080 in this model is power limited compared to MSI, Alienware, Aorus and Clevo.

I did it as well.

No drama.  And, my CPU is now getting a 4.0 GHz overclock at temperatures which average about 5 degrees celsius cooler and peak at about 5 degrees celsius cooler than they were previously with the same application previously running at 3.7 GHz.  In other words, previously, at 3.7 GHz, the application I am using operated at about 75 degrees celsius rather consistently with brief spikes up to about 85 degrees celsius.  Now, at 4.0 GHz, the applications I am using is operating at about 70 degrees celsius rather consistently with brief spikes up to about 80 degrees celsius.  This is with an "adaptive" voltage curve of +50 mV.  It being adaptive, the 4.0 GHz frequency is actually running at about 90 mV more than it was at 3.7 GHz.

In summary, using liquid metal thermal paste, I have achieved a 300 MHz higher CPU overclock, with 90 mV higher core voltage, with a peak CPU temperature in my application which has fallen from 85 degrees celsius to 80 degrees celsius.

Very impressive, both of you. I'm still a bit held back by some of the long term problems I read about (LM drying out etc). But I think I'll have to try it sometime down the line... Results are too good.

In summary, using liquid metal thermal paste, I have achieved a 300 MHz higher CPU overclock, with 90 mV higher core voltage, with a peak CPU temperature in my application which has fallen from 85 degrees celsius to 80 degrees celsius.

do you have the i7-6820HK?  or the 7th gen?
