Carried on from Re: 1080FTW displayport to HDMI only displays 640x480 - [EVGA GeForce 10 Series] baconinabun
it's a slippery slope
for Example, EvgaTech_RayH is work(Employee) and Offthecuff_EVGA is Personal(still unconfirmed), it could follow that Offthecuff_EVGA means that if this nick posts to any @op in the forums it could out way any other user that might want to input to that @op, which would be unfair to say the least, It would certainly be a conflict of interest and could fall into the category of cronyism. If i changed my nick to include _EVGA onto the end or start of my nick this would be a problem to other forum users

Thank you for starting this thread BaconinaBun. If I weren't on a plane with horrific Wi-Fi, I would have moved the posts over. Offthecuff_evga is RayH. He posted a picture as RayH in a thread and I thanked him, and immediately received a reply from Offthecuff_EVGA saying not a problem, just trying to help. RayH's post: https://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2701042Offthecuff_evga: https://forums.evga.com/FindPost/2701050Avatars match and all, but join dates are different.

EVGATech_RayH OfftheCuff_EVGA This is like what I would call a Phishing Scam and why I asked, also New Members cannot respond to PMs. - Multiple Accounts - Do not create secondary accounts. If you have an account issue, contact the Webmaster via his email address or Private Message, and provide your information that would help identify your account, and provide a brief description of the issue. Creating multiple accounts to evade a temporary or permanent ban will increase your time away from the forums leading up to a permanent ban. If you have accidentally created a second account, please contact the Webmaster so it can be removed. Link
Their are Forum Members that have EVGA in their User Names and are Not Employees of EVGA and I asked about this and was told that was OK. Being an EVGA Employee and their Company they can have as many accounts as they want, I only find it odd and confusing was all.

After 10 posts, a user can respond. His personal account has 11 posts, so he would be able to respond in this case.
I have brought this to the attention of EVGA as well.

+1 it's good that employees of EVGA wish to help on the forums, out of there own time, but then in their own time they should follow the same rules applied as any other user has to follow. maybe some sort of special forum membership group that off duty staff should fall into? rather than "new member"

I would say to put their employee forum name as their tag.. instead of "New Member", have it show as EVGATech_RayH as the tag (in this case.. make it name specific to each employee of course)

That would fly one thing i meant to point out his signature says "Tech RayH" which leads back to what bcavnaugh said in post #3, as i would have thought "EVGATech_RayH" or just plain old simples "RayH" would have been the correct way to word that, if you see what i mean. I do see the point why staffers can set up as many accounts as they see fit in private, but then to identify themselves as staffers and use an account openly then they should have there own group, or just be simple users, I hope when he reads through this he does not take it personal and that he carries on being part of community forums, that's the important part

I'll definately look into this further and make sure to take the appropiate steps to correct this if there have been any violations to the T&C. Thanks, _Eddie

I will work with Eddie to make sure the naming conventions are correct. Certainly don't want to confuse customers or Moderators. I personally would rather have one account and not two. But there are complexities to that from a job standpoint, I will not go into any more detail than that, where we will have to make some arrangement so that there is no confusion for customers and I can help whether I am in the office or not.

Scarlet-Tech Avatars match and all, but join dates are different.
I have a date that I created my EVGA account and a date that I started to assist in an official capacity for EVGA, these dates would not match. I do appreciate the points that are brought up. I would not want someone create an account that was false duplicate of an official account, and we will correct any instances that we find of that occurring.

I already found it funny when I saw that nickname with RayH's avatar, I was like... what? Did someone steal his avatar? Until I saw the signature... In my opinion employees sure should have the privilege to help in their own time, but it has to be very clear that the account is validated to be used by an actual employee and not some hacker / scammer / phisher or whatever you want to call them like bcavnaugh mentioned. But to EVGATech_RayH for even considering spending his free time on this, this is what I call dedicated people that are a big value to the company.

Sorry for the confusion everyone! We've always allowed techs to have personal accounts as well as their tech account, and over the years many of us have posted helping out the community anonymously, myself included. We've flagged OfftheCuff_EVGA as a moderator so people will know he's not just trying to impersonate an someone official. That should take care of any concerns about the legitimacy of the account. Thank you Ray for spending your personal time making this community better! And thank you to our moderators for being on top of even the small things like this. It's assuring to know that if someone does try to impersonate a tech or a moderator that you're on top of it.

I have not seen this behavior. If you see anything like that occurring please bring it up to a Forum Moderator for review. I cannot speak for everyone, but I only use the forums to assist in troubleshooting and usually will not participate in opinion based threads.

I haven't seen it happen, was just wondering if evga was monitoring them or told employee's to avoid doing certain things on personal forums accounts. nateman_doo when are we going to see you on "Forged in Fire" show.
