I previously had a EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 SC GAMING ACX 3.0; the Idle temps for this card were pretty low high 30's to low 40's.
I recently received my GTX 1080 FE from step-up, with this card my temps have start in the 30's then quickly climb to 50+ while idle.

Nothing else in my case has changed, all other temps are still really good.  The only thing i can think of the changed is that this card uses Rear Exhaust.  When i look at the back of my case i notice there is a divider to separate the slots.   It looks like it might be blocking a portion of the exhaust vent.

Do you guys think that this might be the cause of my high temps?  I was planning on cutting out that part of the case, but i wanted a second opinion before i butcher my case=p. Picture is attached.

Any input will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Is there anything close to or under your new card in one of your pci slots near your new cards intake possably? Is your case open or closed? I see the bracket looks like its blocking maybe 15-20% which wouldn't account for 50C idles. Make sure your fan on your gpu is spinning at all. If you have really bad or no airflow one thing is going from an ACX to a blower type. It sucks in all the hot air in your cases interior which well cause  the blower type gpus to get hotter.

What are your gpu clocks running at while idle on the desktop with nothing open except for msi afterburner or precision x?

Agreed Very important to see what the monitoring is saying for usage/temp, Looks like you should add 1 or 2 fans to that case for intakes but 20 degrees that wont fix. Looks like there is a 200MM intake and a 120 exhaust plus your GPU but at idle wont matter.

Here are the top causes of why a GPU would run at full clocks at idle...

#1 You're running multiple monitors. Fix: Enable mutil display power saver using nvidia inspector.
#2 Your machine has a virus. Fix: Scan computer using malwarebytes.
#3 One or more programs running in the background are using your GPU. Fix: Perform a clean boot of windows.
#4 Power management mode inside the nvidia control panel is set to prefer maximum performance. Fix: Set power management mode to adaptive then reboot your computer.
    #5 Running a resolution of 2560x1440 @ 144Hz. Fix: Change refresh rate to 120Hz.
#6 K-Boost is enabled inside Precision X. Fix: Disable K-Boost.
#7 Shadowplay is enabled inside geforce experience. Fix: Disable shadowplay inside geforce experience OR completely uninstall geforce experience from your machine (highly recommended)

@sajin in regards to #5 I just upgraded my monitor from a 120hz to 144hz 2 days ago so I'm kind of curious about that one. I haven't noticed my clocks higher at idle i will have to check when I get home but what's the deal with that? It that normal behavior?
