When it comes to to Deathclaws and Mirelurks, I try to encounter them at long distance.  .50 caliber bullets solve many problems.

When they do manage to surprise me, it's spray and pray till they go down.  Which usually means I have to drop the idiot traveling with me as well because they always run in front of you.

Have you faced a Deathclaw on hardcore difficulty?

Nope!   And I doubt that I ever will.

I play these games to have fun and decompress after work and on weekends.  For me personally, cranking the difficulty all the way up is no longer fun.

It's bad enough that you get beat up at work sometimes only to come home and continue the process. LOL  Besides, it's nice to do the pounding.

Exactly.

The game that's really good for an after work stress release is GTA V.

Bugs and glitches.

Had to use console commands to complete a quest because it glitched out.   Interesting how one playthrough (of that particular quest) worked flawlessly and the second did not.

I have a problem with the BOS quest to get things started. I'll end up going through a back door to start it.

What level are you at?

Any new mods?

Just hit level 55.

A couple of new minor ones. Like Auto Doors and Chem Redux.  Mostly just major updates on a couple of older mods.  I keep getting closer and closer to the 255 limit, so I'm trying to figure out what I can do without.

I just hit level 52 and have enough ammo to bring Cait into the mix. I missed her. LOL

Thoroughly enjoyed the Far Harbor DLC, hopefully Nuka World will be just as fun. Is the story any good there?

I just started it and that is as far as I am going with it for now. I don't want to give up any of my current settlements so I will eventually kill the raiders. As far as the story goes, I can't honestly say it is good or bad. There are members in this thread that have completed it and can better help you with your question. Hang it there.

I caved in and started playing again, from the beginning.... I burnt myself out playing so much and now I am taking it really slow. Very rare for me to come back to a game like this but FO4 is special. Took a break to play the newest Tomb Raider game and I couldn't beat that dumb game fast enough!

I started over also. This time around I am taking it really slow and concentrating on settlement building.

The game feels different now that all the DLC is available right from the start instead of being patched in like it was.

I agree, FO 4 is special and it's still fun.

I was just playing Skyrim Special Edition and see that they made improvements on the G-Sync front and it is actually playable. I couldn't play it at the beginning. Now I have something after FO 4. LOL

Unshaved54 and I pretty much reset at the same time.

I gave up on my last playthrough because I didn't fully exploit all the factions as much as possible.  I'm concentrating on pushing the faction relations as far as I can without committing to them.

I've yet to make contact with the Railroad, currently trying to stomach as much of the BOS that I can.  Which is how they really are.  A bunch of jerks.   Fallout 3 made them seem all nice and friendly. Except for the Outcasts.

Sick and tired of your buddies using up all you ammo?  Had enough of the mindless spray and pray method that they insist on?

Then try this.  Companion Infinite Ammo

I personally find Cait to be annoying, so she's over at Red Rocket running things.

Yeah a few.

Far Harbor adds a 45-70 lever action rifle along with a harpoon gun.  Nuka World adds a "home built" AK-47.    There are probably some other melee weapons that Im forgetting about.

If you want some better weapons than that, you'll want to look at mods.

That they did Ducky Want A Quacker. I don't have to worry about the BOS as I have a glitch that prevents me from starting any BOS quests.

Taking it nice and slow allows me to uncover more items than I did before.

What Quacker man said. I would also add that I killed a Legendary and he dropped some sort of harpoon style weapon with huge damage infliction and I have yet been to the Island. This did not come until I started over. To me the game feels different then it did when the DLC was released the way it was.

I'm finding new stuff all the time.    Like suits of armor that I've walked right by in the other playthroughs..  (The underwater one by Jamaica Plain being the most recent).

Was messing around with the UGrids in Fallout 4 last night.  So I climbed to the top of a mountain and took some pictures.

Following shots are UGrids 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15.

seems a high res texture pack is coming to fallout 4(along with official PS4 pro support): https://bethesda.net/en/article/52I2HyPCAowWG2ye8MKGU2/fallout-4-free-updates-high-resolution-texture-pack-and-ps4-pro-support

8 GB of Vram recommended fopr the high res textures.... wonder if that's enough at 4K resolution though?

PS4 Pro can render at 1440p, but I doubt the mod support will be expanded to the same level as the xbox (let alone the PC level)

According to those specs my 4770 and 980TI won't cut it. Have to wait until it is released to find out.

UGrids? I'm lost on this one.

UGrids is the number of exterior cells that load.  Default is 5.    So imagine yourself in the middle of a 5x5 grid.  To the edge of that grid is what is being loaded into memory.   Increasing the ugrid count increases the level of detail that is loading out to a farther distance.

If you click on the pics and go the full res version of them, you can see that as the grid increase, the level of detail farther out also increases.   It's good for eye candy screenshots, but not recommended for game play.  While I haven't tested it on FO4 longterm, I did run ugrids 7 on Skyrim, while it helped to eliminate pop in other things, you run the risk of corrupting saves.   At least with Skyrim.  Haven't heard if it does the same to FO4.

Downloaded a mod called Auto Doors.  Automatically closes doors that those annoying settlers keep leaving open.  Or you can have them automatically open or close the doors as you approach and leave.  Or.. You can key card the door and lock people out.

Ducky,

Have you tried that high res texture pack release requiring heavier hardware yet? Your opinion.
