How about just doing the old standby of having Steam find and replace/repair missing files?

I get the error before I even try to play any game. As soon as I launch Steam, 'POOF' there it is. I haven't the energy to read through all of this nonsense but it isn't causing any problems other that annoying me by cluttering up my Event Viewer. https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/348293122110863080/

On top of everything else, starting last night I have been getting slammed with emails containing redirect viruses that AVG stops in their tracks. 'Tis the season...

Anybody else getting these every time they start Steam? "Failed to add firewall exception for C:\Program Files (x86)\Games\Steam\bin\steamwebhelper.exe"

Been getting them for a while but forgot about them since I haven't played in so long but apparently Valve/Steam did not fix it. I added several more Firewall holes to no avail.

Everything seems to be normal for me. I'm running Symantec anti-virus which takes care of that. Been running it for what seems eons and never had issues like you are, Strange.

I ran into a problem with starting the BOS quest. Palidon Dance won't start the quest. "Check your ammo" or something like that. Anyone else run into it?

I also noticed that after all the DLC has been made available there is a difference and it doesn't feel like the old game when you start over with it all running. I'm running the same difficulty level as I did the first time around.

For those that have started over with all the DLC loaded and all the patches installed, have you noticed if your companion or you are having strange collisions? Walking through a door that has any visible object near enough to interfere with you walking through it is one example. This wasn't an issue before the second time around.

This is the very last reply in that thread I posted above:

"I did a clean format with my pc and only steam installed.the problem is still there whenever i login my account but my friends account the problem did not exist.I think it affects only on random accounts.Steam should do a serious fix with their program."

I read somewhere that it had to do with a file that is no longer there. IDK, but it is still annoying whether it effects random accounts or all accounts. I'm starting to think that it is a leftover fragment of a beta version of some game that did not uninstall properly. I should create a System Image and find Steam or Valve in my REGEDIT utility and look for something fishy and then delete the entry to see if it fixes the problem. If things go haywire I can just restore the System Image and start over again.

Colette is still hugging the dirt in Diamond City. Someone keeps putting Road Leathers on her no matter how many times I loot her corpse. I think it's a corpse. Maybe she's just all tuckered out and needs her sleep.

When you first started out did you run with Dog Meat? If you did were there times that he would do stupid things like run into an object, get stopped from advancing further but still keep running?

Since I did a restart this is what is happening for me. Annoying!!!!

Yeah, I seem to recall him doing that.  And walking off the edge of things.

I traveled briefly with Dogmeat.  Since he's a melee fighter, he's always running into the line of fire.  So he tends to take as much damage from me as he does whatever we're fighting.  I have a mod that opens up what it seems Bethesda originally intended, to have Dogmeat as a constant companion, i.e. the original Dogmeat from Fallout, regardless of who ever else is with you.  So now I just use him as a pack mule.  When I can find him.  He likes to wander around Sanctuary and doesn't care in the least about be summoning bell.

All of my companions especially Cait run into walls and other objects and keep chugging along marching in place for lack of a better description. You've seen video of Cage swimming around in circles. Go ahead and explain that one to me. The last companion that swam along with me was Nick Valentine in Far Haror.

But this is different........kind of. It doesn't matter where you move him too he turns and runs right back to where it was and continues his non travel but from a different angle. Like he is trying to get to that specific spot that is occupied with something else.

I think I am now at war with the BOS for shooting down one of their VertiBirds. I walked up to Cambridge PD and everyone turned red and started shooting at me so Cait and I had to rub 'em out. Not sure if they had time to radio for help. I was hoping to use them to kill the Raiders in Nuka-World and then exterminate the BOS. There goes THAT plan.

That reminds me.  I need to do that as well.  Windows keeps bugging me about another update.  Lately everytime they do an update, on of those "updates" always breaks my Favorites links and I can't remember which one it is.

Anyone run across the scavvy's robotic setup that seeks out resources, ammo and explosives? I have run into 2 of them now. I also ran into a provisoner/trader that sells Brahmas for 100 caps. I bought one and sent it to Outpost Z that is close by. It showed up. I did not run into these the first time around and ran that road many times without seeing them.

The Bramhas are used for fertilizer for your settlement and if you use the plots that can be built for food growth, fertilizer is needed to build them. Bags of fertilizer are expensive to buy.

I also found out the hard way that tall tower structures can be invaded. The Gunners attacked one of my settlements that has a tower in it and climbed the stairs to get at me. They weren't the only ones to do this. The Rust Devils did so as well. I've since added 2 shotgun turrets to the stair entrance as a "meet and greet" welcoming get to know you party.

When it's all said and done, with the exception of water, these towers will be self contained.

Haven't run into anything like that.

In fact when ever someone raids Starlight, I swear they go out of their way to kill my cows.  Every single time I get a new cow, someone shows up and shoots it.

You can build your own 'Eye-bot' pods in the workbench to seek out materials. I don't build them because there isn't too much I need. I'd rather build killer robots.

I have to look into that but at the moment it isn't costing any resources.

Been building my settlements up and with the exception of needing water, everything is self contained. I set up my defenses and after getting invaded by the Gunners and the Rust Devils I set up shotgun defenses to cover the entrance into the towers. I finally saw 1 work. Made Swiss Cheese out of a Mr. Handy. I still have to deploy another Shotgun to cover that entrance.

Still trudging my way through things.   I've found the robot, but I haven't agreed to go with the robot yet.  At the moment, Im about to wrap up my stint as a comic book/radio show hero.

As did I. That was a tough fight with all those robots coming at you from all different angles. I need better weaponry. Found a couple of pieces of armor that added better defense.

I didn't find the initial fight to be so tough, but I know some of the follow up fights can be.  And now robots are now showing up and attacking settlements.  The ones based on the Sentry Bots can be nasty, because they always blow up when you kill them, and I always seem to be standing next to them when they do that.

I haven't gone in after them yet but I remember the first time around. I was a lot weaker at that time. Now Death Claws don't bother me as long as it's 1 on 1. I even go after the mierlurk queen. She's a push over. LOL

As I gain levels those bots come up with new weapons and they are nasty. I'm also seeing more Rust Devils attacking my settlements. May have to change the way I do things. What's killing me is the bots that fly. The can enter my towers from the air bypassing my shotgun defense systems. May have to wall it in. That will be a lot of cement/concrete.

I found out that when you find armor that gives you 25% poison protection, you can stack it if you find more. I have 50% poison protection right now.

When it comes to to Deathclaws and Mirelurks, I try to encounter them at long distance.  .50 caliber bullets solve many problems.

When they do manage to surprise me, it's spray and pray till they go down.  Which usually means I have to drop the idiot traveling with me as well because they always run in front of you.

Nope!   And I doubt that I ever will.

I play these games to have fun and decompress after work and on weekends.  For me personally, cranking the difficulty all the way up is no longer fun.
