I'm trying to fold on a GTX470 and a 9800GT PhysX card.

When I try to start the 9800GT folding, i get the message:
"At present your GPU is not supported or you need a current driver. You may wish to colnsider running our standard client which you can download at folding.stanford.edu"

Any word on this? I suppose I could manually download the GPu2 client and stuff.
The 9800GT is GPU1 and is currently not configured for GPU2.

EDIT: For some reason I can either get one or the other GPU folding, but I can't get the GTX470 folding GPu3 and the 9800GT folding GPU2 at the same time.

Also, why does the GPU3 folding client have the -oneunit flag on it?

All the client.cfg files in the Tracker folders should have the -oneunit flag. The client exiting tells the Tracker that the client is done with the current WU. The Tracker will automatically restart the client when it completes a WU unless you have oneunit enabled on that GPU in the Tracker config.

With the update to v2.79 my GPU client keeps crashing

It was doing that to me too. I went to Configure, and I re-checked enable GPU 0, hit Apply, it saved the new settings and has been folding away since yesterday.

Well that didn't go so smooth for me. I had to make it take a GPU3 unit left it to fold about 5% and then took it back to GPU2, and now it's working .

The update might have failed for you, try downloading the full Tracker again. This was the first update that downloads a new client and critical files, and I didn't expect it to work perfectly.

Yes, that was added in 2.79. There is a new button on the config page that opens the config for GPU2/GPU3.

What driver version are you running? Also you need to enable PhysX or extend a monitor to the 9800GT to fold on it. You can also try enabling the nvidia_G80 forcegpu option in the config. The GPU3 client should ignore this flag.

Re:FAH GPU Tracker V2 2010/05/26 14:32:18 (permalink)
I'm fairly sure that the 9800GT is PhysX enabled.

Before the GPU3 client came along I'd fold exclusively on the 9800GT, and I could run games off of the GTX470. Now, it doesn't work anymore. I'll try the nvidia_G80 forcegpu option and let you know how it goes.

I think I'm running a hacked nvidia 197.55 driver for both cards. Originally, I was running the 197.55 for the 400 and 197.45 for the 9000. However, even running the hacked 197.55 for PhysX, it seems that I could still fold on it before the newer FAH GPU Tracker came out.

Maybe you made some changes and I need to change that and revert to the WHQL drivers? It's just confusing since the tracker worked before. It seems that when I try to install it again the 9000 card seems to always try and download the FAHCore_15 instead of FAHCore_11.

I should have said that this worked for my ATI 4870. After the update the GPU client began crashing. I went to configure, clicked ATI GPU Setup, made sure GPU0 was checked, and a few WUs later all is well. But my system using a GTX 260 55nm is currently not up and running

Last night we launched the New FAH Tracker Project site. This includes a portal homepage and a support forum. The homepage link is http://fahtracker.forumotion.com and the direct link for the forums is http://fahtracker.forumotion.com/forum.htm . There is more to the forums if you register for the website than if you just view it as a guest. Some of the extras include the BETA section where you can request entry into the structured Beta system that will be in place starting with 2.8beta to use the betas you now have to be a member of the BETA Team. Also we would like to get feedback and bug reports put into this forum as well there are appropriate places in the forum for that. So it is worth registering for the website.

Version 2.8 BETA is out. This version will be the last beta version available for public download. Starting with this version only stable versions will be released publicly. This is to prevent a situation similar to the early 2.7x releases that had tons of bugs due to new features.

If you want to join the beta team to help with development and get access to beta versions you can apply on the FAH GPU Tracker V2 forums here:

Ok, you don't need to disable SLI or use dummy plugs if you do the following using the Tracker.

1. Use 190.38 or later drivers
2. Enable SLI on the 260s and PhysX on the GTS 250.
3. Select forcegpu Nvidia G80 in the Tracker's configuration.
4. Start folding.

This should work, let me know if you have problems. Also, the Tracker itself is not a folding client. It runs the normal folding clients hidden.

There is a Gaming Pause Feature built into the Tracker. You just have to set it up and it will automatically pause folding while you are gaming and start it back up again when you stop.

I'm running the latest Nvidia 257 beta drivers with my quad-SLI GTX295s (dual-PCB).  I keep the SLI bridge on the cards, and use the Nvidia control panel to switch in and out of quad-SLI.  With quad-SLI activated I can only have 2 GPU clients running at once, and I have to disable quad-SLI to get the 4 GPU clients running.

Will the FAH GPU Tracker allow me to pause my 4 GPU clients and 1 SMP2 client, and allow me to enable quad-SLI for gaming, and when done gaming disable SLI through NCP and have FAH Tracker restart the folding clients?

The "Paused" state actually means that the clients are not running, but the Tracker will restart them at some point. The only time this happens in the current release is if the Tracker detects a game running.

Your best option is to stop the clients before switching to quad SLI and gaming, and restart them after you are done gaming and disable quad SLI again. The automatic gaming pause feature will only pause the clients once a game is detected, so it wont be possible to use it if you have to disable/enable SLI before starting games.

Loving the app! One quick thing, how does it "detect" games? I noticed the app had paused folding on my CPU and GPU but was not sure why. When I clicked "Test Game List" it gave the following message.

---------------------------
FAH GPU Tracker V2
---------------------------
Game detected: Pandora.exe
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

I'm not sure if you are familiar, but Pandora is for streaming Internet radio, and not gaming. It is not a full screen application (small window) and is built on the Adobe AIR platform (I'm not sure if that matters).

I simply disabled the setting for now, but found it a bit odd :)

Ah, that was my mistake in creating the Games.txt list. I dumped the list from the Nvidia Control Panel and I thought I got most of the programs that shouldn't be on the list. (web browsers, media players, Adobe programs, Steam, ect)

To fix the problem temporarily search Games.txt for "Pandora.exe" and remove it. I plan to add an easier way of editing the list and removing entries that shouldn't set it off to a future version.
