Were you using Process Lasso or WinAFC before and not now? GPU Tracker does not take the place of a priority/affinity controlling application.

I've never used either app.

I think I'm just going to stick to GPU folding.  One more 450 (@106W) and I can replace three 8800GT's (105Wx3) and not lose many PPD's.  Add another one and I'm way ahead PPD-wise and am still using less electricity.

I gotta try to move some old cards on eBay... and quick!

I found the problem with the SMP client continuing to run when there is an error stopping the client safely. What should happen if the client doesn't stop safely is that the Tracker should kill the process. This was broken for the SMP client because it wasn't using the right process ID.

This fix will be released along with the next stable version. This may be awhile because there are a few new features in beta testing that I am not willing to release until I know they work correctly.

Jedi,  Thanks for the quick reply.  It hasn't been a very big deal, but figured I'd mention it and it might have been me.  That would not have been a shock.   In any event, great job with the program, and I look forward to those sweet looking upgrades.

This looks like a fantastic program!

I'm planning on installing it when I get home from work as part of my effort to improve the PPD I'm generating with my current system.

I'm currently only running F@H on a single core of my GTX 295 as I've haven't had the time to tweak everything and figure out how to fold on both cores.     With this program, would I just select enable on both GPUs 0 and 1, none, and then Nvidia G80?   Do I still need a dummy toggle or is this no longer required?

Thanks again for creating this!  It looks so much easier than trying to set up everything manually was and hopefully it will encourage more people to start folding or make improvements!

You dont need a dummy plug anymore but I believe you will have to select extend desktop in the nv control panel and itll see it as 2 gpu's

Ok, so I have finished my current WUs and installed the tracker.   The CPU client seems to be working as far as I can tell, but I'm getting errors on both cores of my GTX 295.

Error Log:
[16:32:02] Starting SMP
[16:32:02] Started new WU on SMP
[16:32:02] Starting GPU 0
[16:32:02] Started new WU on GPU0

[16:33:03] Stopped SMP
[16:33:03] Stopped GPU 0
[16:33:03] Stopped GPU 1

I'm guessing I've set something up incorrectly as far as the GPUs are concerned.  Does anyone have any ideas on where I should start looking?

Also just as a suggestion, would it be possible to NOT autodelete the WUs on an error message?   I really hate WUs being deleted as it takes awhile before they will be re-assigned.   Would be nice to at least attempt to de-bug user problems without losing the WU anytime you screwed up the config somewhere.

It doesn't look like I can edit my origional post?
In looking further into the problem, It doesn't look like they desktop has been properly extended.   When I go into personalize > display settings, I can see monitor 1 and a greyed out monitor 2.   I click extend the desktop onto this monitor and then save.   It says that the settings have changed and do I want to save it.   I click yes, but if I go back into the same screen, it doesn't look like its actually saving it.  I'm guessing this is the cause of the second core not working properly. I don't know why this would cause both cores to fail however, as I've been folding on one of the cores for months.

Re:FAH GPU Tracker V2 2010/10/19 19:23:49 (permalink)
Deleting the WU after you get an UNSTABLE_MACHINE error doesn't actually delete a WU. When a client fails a WU it uploads the results of that WU and gets a new one. What the Tracker does is clean out the client folder completely before starting a new WU. Now if there was a WU downloaded when the folder is cleaned out then an actual WU is deleted.

I recommend trying just GPU0 with the GPU2 client and Force GPU set to Nvidia G80. If this works, then stop GPU0 and start GPU1 using the same settings. If GPU1 also works by itself, then try both at once again.

Basically you need to isolate the problem, which is why trying the clients one at a time is needed.

I keep having this problem pop up.  I am using 2 GTX 480s & a GTX 460.  It happens with a different card ever so often.

That's the GPU3 client crashing, so there really isn't anything I can do about it as far as the Tracker goes.  If you don't want it stopping your folding, then you can set it up to just let the program close without displaying that message. The Tracker will automatically restart the client and resume folding.

I get that crash quite frequently too. How do I auto-set it to close and restart?

I think I might know what it causing this, but I need to see the config file to confirm. Can you send me your TRACKER CONFIG.txt file located in the CONFIG folder? This would make it very easy for me to reproduce the exact problem. Just make sure you edit out your passkey since it is stored in that file.

I sent you a pm with the tracker config file.
I left the SMP client running all night and it looks to be running properly.   I'm getting ~5454 PPD off of my i7 920 at stock speed on project 6702, which I think is probably about right.  Is there any way to view the clients the tracker is running?  I'd like to be able to see the TPF (time per frame).  I'm hoping to get a chance to OC the processor a bit this weekend to try and up my output and I was planning on using TPF to measure the improvements.
Thanks again for the help!

The config file you sent me confirms that you have a different problem than the one I suspected. To fix this, I recommend putting the SMP client into oneunit mode then re-downloading the clients after it finishes the current WU. You can do this by going to Config -> Download FAH Clients. The Tracker will ask if you want to delete the current clients and redownload them, select yes and it will download the clients again like on the first run. This should fix your problem with the reconfig loop.

For the TPF, the Tracker already displays this in the client status window:

You can open this window by clicking on the client name label:

Thanks Jedi!
I have the SMP client running onunit mode now and will try and re download the clients when it finishes.   Its currently at 55% on a 11:30 TPF project 7602 (ouch these new projects hurt!) so it will probably be a good 8 hours or so.
The client tracker window was exactly what I was looking for   This program has everything

Ok, finally had time to re-download the clients.   GPU 0 is working properly when started alone.  GPU 1 is still giving me the unstable machine errors.   I'm guess this is due to no dummy plug/desktop not extending properly on my end.   Will play with it a bit more tomorrow and see if I can get that second core folding.   Either way im back folding SMP + 1 core again :)

I don't currently have plans to add this myself since the Tracker is developed in VB.NET. If there are any developers who would like to port it I would be happy to give them the source code.

Any thoughts of allowing an export of the client stats data, maybe into a comma delimited text file? Just thinking it would be easier to send a table of info to ~The Dude~ for his PPD spreadsheet rather than entering each one separately on his data entry form. That is, if he would accept it his way. Still might be nice to have.

Re:FAH GPU Tracker V2 2010/10/21 16:57:02 (permalink)
Version 3.30 released!

Version 3.30 is a major revision to the Tracker. Most of the focus has been on making setting up the Tracker a better experience. The two changes focused on this are the addition of a FAH client download monitoring window, and automatic Nvidia GPU detection and client setup. The download monitoring window also adds the ability to stop the FAH client downloads before they complete without exiting the Tracker. GPU detection is done through CUDA, so there is no support for ATI GPUs at this time. I plan to add that later through OpenCL once the new ATI core comes out.

This release of the tracker also adds the ability to upload the status XML file to an FTP server. This was added at the request of another developer working on a smartphone app that will use this information to display the status.

3.30 also includes tons of bugfixes covering a wide variety of problems. The worst problems would occur when the name or team contains invalid characters. For example, if your folding name contained a space the Tracker would enter a client reconfig loop.

Hi Jedi!
Does it not work on Vista Home Premium 32-bit (SP2)?

I have just installed it on my moms home PC, and when im trying to configure (the smp client), it errors with a message saying something about an unhandled exception and an 'an integer value'....

Hi Jedi!
Does it not work on Vista Home Premium 32-bit (SP2)?

I have just installed it on my moms home PC, and when im trying to configure (the smp client), it errors with a message saying something about an unhandled exception and an 'an integer value'....
Never had this problem on two Win7 x64 machines.

Can you be more specific? There is way to much code to go through to find problems without more information. The contents of the error message box are what I need to figure out what's going on. If you post that I should be able to fix the problem.

I can't think of any reasons why the Tracker wouldn't work with Vista 32-bit, so this probably has nothing to do with the OS.

Yes of course, understandable, that you need way more info. The vsita is in danish though, so mayb some of the error message is hard to understand... lol.
I'll post the details of the error message; tell me if you need something else.
The only thing i do in the program is: Install it + download clients (no problems); then go to Configure and then press 'enable CPU folding' and then just 'Apply'. When ihit apply a box with a error message comes, saying unhandled execption, with the following details of the exception error (in danish!):

************** JIT-fejlfinding **************
Hvis du vil aktivere JIT-fejlfinding, skal værdien jitDebugging indstilles
i afsnittet system.windows.forms i konfigurationsfilen
for programmet eller computeren.
Programmet skal desuden kompileres med fejlfinding
aktiveret.
Eksempel:
<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
Når JIT-fejlfinding er aktiveret, bliver alle ikke-afviklede
undtagelser sendt til den JIT-fejlfindingsfunktion, der er registreret på computeren, i stedet for
at blive afviklet af denne dialogboks.

Thanks for posting that, I think I know what the problem is. I added a check in 3.30 to ensure that the team number was actually a number. The reason for this is that if you enter a number followed by a space, the FAH clients will get into a reconfig loop because "111065 " is not a valid number (the client won't accept the value, and then the Tracker will try again since it didn't work)

I just need to fix it so that there are no problems. In the mean time, make sure there are no spaces following the team number and try to apply the settings again.

Awesome program. By the way, this also causes problems if you use the .xml file. I created an XML file instead of entering my input manually and it kept crashing. Entering my info manually, saving, then pointing it to the .xml file did the trick.

well, im using your program, I have a I7 950 @ 3.07 GHZ, and 1 GTX 470 GPU. Both are not overclocked.

When i open the program, its only detecting 2/4 of my 4/8 Cores/Threads. I successfully did 1 WU for my GTX 470, took about 1 hours. My CPU on the other hand is taking forever, its only 2% done, and running for about 6 hours. Project is 6701. is this normal. or.......

my PPD's are:
CPU-1,748
GPU-11,602

im stumped

jedi, a new member that started today, arkwin, is having a problem with running GPU Tracker (http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=644258). It almost seems like it is not recognising the CPU correctly i7 - 950. Could you please take a look. Thanks.

@Jedi. Thx for your time and input. I applied the team number (doh had forgotten before, was just on the Client settings tab). Then everything was fine. As normal :D

Thank you. Awesome program. Hasnt given me any problems, neither smp, big adv or GPU2 folding, on 3 machines :D
