Well i just started folding today, im using FAH GPU Tracker. The one from the post on the main forum screen. I got it running, completed a few WU on my GPU, it says PPD is about 11,700 ( i have a GTX 470) .

on the otherhand, my processor is only showing about 1,140 PPD. and after like 3 hours, its only 3 % done. When i load it up, it shows its using 2 cores 4 threads.  But i have a I7 950 @ 3.07, Which is 4 cores, 8 threads (or am i retard)

any ideas on this? is this normal? or is my computer in general messed up atm?

i just built it a week ago, so idk...

What work unit is it? Thinking you have the uniprocessor client installed. For your cpu, you should be running the SMP2 client.

yes..after the .exe in the target line..you should have -smp -advmethods
the -smp part will enable folding on all your threads

    Hold on a minute!

There should be no flags added to the .exe when you are using the GPU Tracker program.

Please provide a screenshot of what you are talking about.

Did you buy your chip from a reputable source? Would hate to see someone not get what they paid for. You confirmed the chip by reading the printing on the chip itself? Is hyperthreading turned on in BIOS?

Sorry about that.. I don't use GPU tracker and forgot you can set up the SMP client there too.
I'm thinking that in the tracker program in the configuration options/client settings where you checked enable CPU folding,
did you put in "CPU cores to use" did you put in 8 or 4??
    Should be 8

And get rid of the -smp -advmethods.. my bad

well. i switched over to using F@H i added the -smp. its taking about 6 mins per frame, only showing as about 300 ppd

im using HFM.net to monitor but it is detecting all 4 cores

    any ideas on this?
i havent setup my GPU one yet, dont really know how

Aw man.. that tracker program is a good one. Sorry I sent you down a different path. As I posted in #16, it might have just been a setting in the tracker program that you were using, did you get a chance to check it? Or did you not see my post before you stopped using it..
You might reconsider using The GPU tracker program again. Only this time check that setting I mentioned.
The sticky near the top of our forum posts has a thread about just that program. Lots of help there.
I'm old school about installs of F @ H clients because programs like that weren't around just yet when I started. But it makes installs for newer guys much easier.
Anyway, a screenshot of HFM will help alot.
Which client did you install? That 300 PPD is low.
Need a little more info to help you further.

It may turn out in the end that the Tracker program isn't recognising your CPU properly. If that's the case, you will need to get in touch with jedi95 to resolve that. For now, lets see if we can get you up and running.

Don't give up.  6701 on my 860 takes about 8 TPF so at 6 min, all eight cores are firing.  It must be something in the tracker itself.  Post the issue to Jedi's thread on the tracker, it's a sticky at the top of the forum.  He'll help you solve it, but in the meantime, your computer is folding correctly.

Please don't give up. Don't let mflanaga's misguided advice above throw you off (I know you meant well). The Tracker Configuration should look something like this. I'm running a 470 and 250.

There's an autodetect button to make it easier. You can also use Windows Task Manager - Performance help determine what's going on. Do you see 4 or 8 graphs? What are the %?

Also, if you increase your GPU shaders using Precision to 1450, then you can increase the PPD to around 14k (and an extra 20 watts of course). Increase your OC to at least 3.6 Ghz and you're ready for bigadv units giving you the 70k bonus. Don't start using the bigadv until you've completed 10 units to get the bonus.

BTW, here's your stats so far. Congratulations! http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_summary.php?s=&u=533447

The 6701 wu is gives you a credit of 921.  You have to get a passkey here:  http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/getpasskey.py, and complete 10 wu with the passkey to start recieving the bonus.  Just give it a couple days and don't give up.

Congrats.   Make sure you keep an eye on your temps.  Run a program like core temp.  Let us know if you have any questions.

I just wanted to clarify that I recognize that mflanaga realized his error early on and pointed arkwin in the right direction before my post. The more people that we can get folding, the sooner we can get to the exhalted exoflop processing.
