I doubt EVGA has much inventory or we would have seen cards appearing either here or in EVGA retailers. I don't see any cards anywhere.

I keep hoping production is ramping up and EGVA will start receiving large shipments by ship, which takes longer but is less expensive than air freight.

The demand cannot be all that large since relatively few people buy GPUs nearly as powerful and expensive as the cheapest RTX 3060 TI. (Most people with computers don't even have discrete graphics cards.) So, the supply has to be very low and even a relatively modest increase in supply should have a major effect on satisfying demand.
I don't have any inside information but I suspect that the main problem is a shortage of the GPU chips Samsung is fabricating for Nvidia, since a shortage of anything else would be more likely manifested as a shortage of particular makes or models of cards. Instead, whatever the problem is seems to be affecting ALL RTX 3000 series cards. I've been looking on the websites of all the major retailers and no-one seems to have any of the cards in stock or even available for pre-order.

I think you are underestimating the number of people who game on PC.  There are 5 million members on pcmasterrace and that place is toxic as hell.  The demand is there, people aren't spending their normal "fun" budget doing normal activities, I don't think $500 is breaking many banks.

To your point, while the demand is real, the shortages are just as real.  The AIBs have people in line dying to give them $400-2000+, they would be crazy to not do everything possible to try to meet that demand.  There are multiple places out there dedicated to scanning retailers for "drops", and any stock is gone within seconds.

"Most people with computers don't even have discrete graphics cards" is not really accurate (maybe in a laptop since but not with desktops).  I'm in my 50's and have a graphics card and it's going out on me (I'm hoping to get one soon). Also my two brothers, my son, and my husband all have graphic cards.  My son and brother are also trying to get new cards, as their cards are old and need to be replaced.   And that's just one household. It's just NVIDIA is trying to produce as many chips as possible but the demand is so huge, especially with bitcoin mining, that they cannot keep up with all the consumers who are needing one. I'm just waiting patiently.  If my card goes out before I can get my hands on a new one, my husband will be missing a card from his computer.

Probably most people who use their computers for gaming DO have discrete graphics cards. However, look at any retailer's website. Most computers under $1000 use the graphics chip built into the CPU. Very few business computers have discrete graphics cards because they are not necessary for doing spreadsheets, word processing, and the like. And, even among the computers in the $1000 to $1500 range, most do not have graphics cards at the price level of a 3060 TI, let alone the price of a 3070 or 3080. Then, when you factor in that a lot of people use laptops or all-in-ones that don't have user replaceable graphics cards, the market for discrete graphics cards like we are all impatiently waiting for is relatively small--MUCH smaller, for example, than the market for high end cell phones. The market is further fragmented by the fact that AMD and Nvidia release new ranges annually and most people do not change graphics cards annually. However, the market is definitely affected by people buying for mining. With the market being fairly small to start with, the addition of even a relatively modest additional demand can have a great effect on availability.

I feel like I am going to be SOL.  I put my name in on the 3080 XC3 on 1/7 and on the 3080 FTW3 on 1/10.  I honestly don't anticipate being able to make my purchase prior to April 16th when prices for the wait list will go up.  I just want one of these cards to drop for me sometime in March or early April.  This is for a new build to replace my aging i7 6700k with EVGA 1070 FTW2.

Waiting on one these cards

One of the cards I subscribed to notifications for on B&H was the Zotac 3080. I subscribed for notifications VERY early. It has been discontinued, which I find interesting, as they never even received any! I have checked multiple in stock trackers, and I can't see any evidence that they ever got any stock at all. They were listed as coming soon, and then magically became out of stock without ever being purchasable.

I find this alarming and disheartening, considering how some of the queues have little to no movement after four months.

Re: New EVGA.com Notification Checkout Process 2021/01/12 23:55:49 (permalink)
I'll just drop this factoid here:

NVidia and AMD combined sold over 10.5 million dedicated graphics cards in Q3 of 2019, that's dedicated add-in board GPUs sold.  Does anyone seriously think the 30-series & 6000-series aren't moving AT LEAST a couple million units a month, world wide grant you, but at least that much, which means it's fair to assume the U.S. with 5% of the world's population, is getting AT LEAST 5% of that, which would be 50,000, divide that by the number of partners... you get the point, which is: Bare minimum, eVGA are moving at least a few THOUSAND GPUs a month.
The problem is that probably 70-80% of those go to stores, retailers etc, and then you tack off the % they hold for RMAs, and you're left with what we get for the queue.   But that's still not a small number...

So this "small drops" non-sense is just that.  What we see here is but a % of the actual sales that happen when drops occur, don't forget that.

Let us hope today is the day of the big ones though.  I'd really love to see a combined 3060/3070/3080/3090 & Kingpin drop all in one day, or split over today & tomorrow.

Good luck everyone.

EEEEK! You are still here in the queue? I guess there is no chance for me to get it in a reasonable timeframe since I am 10/5 for the same card :-(

The scalpers got me. Apologies, but I held out for a long time. In two weeks it would have been half a year and still no inventory. Logic here is that I bought the card for a total of $2,265. With $116 Amazon rewards point deducted that took the price to $2,148. Used my Amazon card which I receive 5% back. That is another $113 in returned points. That means I came out of pocket $2,035. With a MSRP of $1,870 (as listed on EVGA website), I came out of pocket an additional $165 when all bills clear. I know, Im counting points as not real money in one sense and real equities in another, but it makes me feel better about bad decisions.
I was hopeful that after the holiday period the queue would progress, but it was a poor showing. With that, I have officially gave up on the wait game.

@Enewt, I had intended to use your associate code the whole time and will if I end up purchasing the HC edition. Thank you for all the updates and keeping everyone informed.

Glad you've got a card,  but sheesh .... to pay additional over an inflated MSRP to an already expensive card. Ouchie. But still, hope your card arrives and serves you well! It might be worth some coinage for some to stop playing the waiting game. I don't blame you, but the whole situation does make me sad.

the real blame is nvidia they should have started producing cards 6 months in advance

Part of the issue with this launch was that indeed, they stated they "started ramping up production" something like 2 months before release.  Meaning they were only making fully capacity, most likely, of 30-series cards AT launch and didn't actually have the full yield of production possible available to the market yet, since it takes over a month for GPUs to go from the Die Factory to being on AIBs in stores/on shelves etc, from what I understand of the process & shipping.  As I've said in a few posts now, it really is ridiculous how badly NVidia blundered this launch in every aspect but the performance of the cards.
They're verging on the definition of Insanity with how the 20-series also had supply issues at launch, but that quickly cleared up, this time it's gotten worse for lots of reasons, the least of which is their inability to do basic thought - new GPU, big performance gain over last generation, much lower price points for similar performance GPUs vs last generation, and yet though somehow though THE SAME supply they had for the 20-series (or slightly more, depends on who you ask) would be enough?  Ridiculous.
If they bungle the refresh of the 30-series launch, that's probably coming sometime between April & October of this year, like this again, I'm going to start just straight up avoiding launches of NVidia products to avoid getting in to the situation we are all now in.  If not for the eVGA queue, I would still not have a card, and I was in queue for the 3080 FTW3 Ultra ON launch day, still didn't get my card til mid-October.

Paying scalper prices is something I won't do regardless though, I'm not giving my money to someone that's hording cards for profit.  Patience is a virtue.

Add to that the Scalpers attack with bots, nV and online stores stood there acting like fools seeing hundreds of cards getting drained by one user using a bot. They should have stopped that, took a measure like EVGA did, end of the day all cards were going to be sold, but rather than putting 100 cards in one damn greedy hand, at least it would have been to at least 100 players who are standing in a tight queue now, not to mention that till Now places like Amazon and Newegg just post the cards, scalpers and F5 racers are doing it and no normal person can reach any card "Normally" and to make it worse, blaming C19 for that!

If I wanted a 3060/3070, I could get that any day out here in Japan. The 3080s have been occasionally on the shelf, and Goodwill (Japanese PC store) would allow you to sign up in store for notification. Which from what I heard usually took about 2 weeks. There hasn't been any 3090. To add to that, they don't carry EVGA GPUs in their store. If I can only shake my fan boi status, I would have had a card months ago. I posted on LTT at one point that I could order them online at any point. Someone called me out and said prove it with a link. Well, the below link is to their online store. I just checked and there are multiple different 3090s available.

The price increase is for the import fees and Japanese tax.

I've all but given up. 4 months after launch and still nothing available and nothing moving in the lower priced cards in the queue.

The price increases and no availability of cards is going to more or less drive me out of PC gaming, when the bottom end 3080 costs $800 and is for all intents and purposes unobtainable, things have gotten very far out of hand.

Why offer SKUs that aren't going to be manufactured?

The "We'll honor old prices until April" is a joke, too. So, they'll honor prices on what, the dozen cards that make it to the queue?

Hi All, just a light update for those trying to make sense of "overall stock".  I was able to order a 3090 (24g-p5-3987-kr) from Amazon on 12/30.  They had an estimated arrival date to me of 01/27.  Overnight last night (2am) they updated the estimate to arrival to me on 01/23 (a Saturday).   So there does to be at least some logistical movement on the stock.  Granted, this is a 3090, not a 3080 but still.

Somewhat related, what do you guys think I should list my 1080ti FTW3 for on the used market?

I went to newegg out of curiosity to see the prices here in Canada. AND OH MY GOD. The 3987 is marked at a whopping 1200$!!! (~1025$US) Like, holy crap. Unless EVGA didn't change the prices on the website yet, it's still shows at 880$US (~1120$CAD). Only MemoryExpress comes close at 1199$CAD. Looks like I'm sticking to the queue~~

$1299 for the 3897-KR now too, it's brutal. Keep in mind if you are in Canada like me, we are going to get dinged with brokerage fee's by UPS too. So with converting to USD and paying the brokerage fee's ordering direct from EVGA we're still going to be paying a premium.

At least our price here will be closer to MemoryExpress' than Newegg's. And with an Associate code, we save roughly 2/3 of the shipping cost.

...also, hopefully today will be an amazing drop after 2 days of absolutely nothing.

I'm ready to be hurt again.

Same. Crazy how much demand there is for this product. I'm honestly curious how long it will take before supply catches up. It's a real bummer.

I've been lurking for a few weeks now and I just want to say a huge thanks to everyone who maintains all the 3rd party lists and EVGA.  They are the only vendor doing wait lists to my knowledge.

Hi lazybeard.  Gigabyte did a one-time limited-time list to their Facebook and Discord communities, but it was bungled a bit and they did not repeat it.  But other than that, I am aware of no other AIB that is trying to mitigate this "disaster of a tech launch" (© NVIDIA 2020-2021).

Please use my Associate Code at your checkouts for up to 10% discounts on all your EVGA purchases: VDN2319M4O569J4
