Greetings,

Been following this thread for some time.

I'm signed up for

3881 (3080 xc3 black) 9/16/2020 6:32:34pm

3888 (3080 xc3 hybrid) 12/10/2020 9:17:15am

No emails on either, and don't expect any for a long time (I anticipated at least till March-April)

I really want a hybrid XC3, but will take myself off the list once I'm allowed to purchase whatever card is available first.

Best of luck to everyone and Happy Holidays!

Welcome. Seems like you know the wait is long. GL and happy holidays to you too. Hoping for good drops before they take the break before holidays.

TBF this thread is to discuss the queue system, which unfortunately this ridiculous line of conversations does.

It evolved in to people keeping an eye on their queue position etc, but that was not the original purpose of the thread.

I wish they still sold them and still put the ports on stuff

Me too because I have one & it's basically useless. lol Cool memories though, I should contact Vince & see if he wants it :-P It's in really good condition because I didn't use it that much after it was all said & done, the i5 760 (if memory serves) I had for the P55 Classified wouldn't clock very high.

Exactly. Let it go. They make Justin happy and a couple others by combining the queue and by doing so they make the majority angry. Would that make sense? No.

LOL very nice of you, but I'm pretty sure Vince has a bunch already

Pretty sure I've seen multiple in use in his videos

His products are the only ones with the ports at this point.

It's not useless if you buy a KPE

First of all, I am not saying I deserve jack squat in terms of getting a card before others.  suggested merging queues because it seemed like the fairest, quickest, and easiest solution for EVGA to implement that would quell most of the dissent and let them get back to work making GPUs.

I don't understand why so many people here get so offended or defensive at the notion that some of us believe EVGA made a mistake, as if they're above reproach because they're a for-profit company, or that companies cannot make mistakes.  I get that my proposed solutions to the issue may not sit well with everyone, but the default mode seems to be frothing-at-the-mouth rage at how "entitled" I am rather than proposing an alternative beyond the status quo.  Nobody is perfect, everyone makes mistakes, and part of being a good person is admitting them and addressing them.  EVGA may be a corporation, but corporations are run by people, so those people need to address it.

Thank you for your well worded post. I didn't paste all of it given that I wanted to focus on the part in bold, but I get your frustration.

Unlike yourself, I didn't put all of my eggs in one basket. I didn't request a time stamp for multiple cards out of greed, I did so because I wanted to increase my chances of getting a card at all. When the air cooled 3080's launched on 9/17, we all knew that there were supply issues. EVGA already stated that the supply issues would likely persist into the second quarter of 2021. If I was greedy, I would have bought every card that I was offered and scalped them on Ebay. I wasn't particularly on top of things either, at least not right at the beginning. My time stamp for a 3080 FTW Ultra was around 8:20pm on launch day which meant that the card would not have been in my hands until late November. So, there is one card I could have already had in hand, but I canceled it because the hydro coppers were announced before my time stamp came up and I wanted one of those more. Well, then the hydro copper was delayed so I got fooled. Ha ha, joke's on me. So, I then decided to go for a 3090 XC Hybrid because they had been announced and the auto-notify was publicly announced in advance. I ended up with a time stamp 44 seconds into launch, and could have had that card in hand by now as well, but I'm a gamer and I don't really need that much VRAM, so I decided to pass on that one as well. I am currently in a queue for a 3080 FTW Hybrid, but I might pass on that as well if the 3080ti is announced before my time stamp for the hybrid comes up. If it does come up before the 3080ti is announced, I will be 100% happy with that card and won't have buyer's remorse.

What I am getting at here is that if you are on top of things at all, you should have had a shot at getting at least one card by now. It's not worth splitting hairs about a $20 difference in price when you're talking about an $700-800 card. It's hard to say why some SKU's were released and others are still pending, but I doubt it's because of money. Some of the lower cost SKU's have been released as well so it's not just the top end that's seeing the light of day.

You made a bad decision to only go for one SKU. I know, hindsight is a ****, but merging queues is not the answer. It gives people who blew it a "do over" and I'm not down with that line of thinking.

With everything going into BIOS and Windows based OC tools. I guess anything hardware based was going to die someday o_o

I wonder if KingPIn has access to special external tools to boost his clock higher.

First post, third point; tons of places all over the internet to have passionate debate about this topic; pick one and feel free to plant your flag over there

I suggest anyone that is annoyed by these conversations simply utilize the block feature.  I'm sure a couple of people have blocked me for "off topic posts" in this thread, or "gloating" as they put it.  You can't please everyone!  Let's keep things in here happy & upbeat folks.

I think we had some good queue movement in some segments today.  The Kingpin is now dangerously close to forcing my decision... and if I had to make that decision right now, I would order it O_o if I had the money, which I currently do not (waiting on the sale money from my 3080 reselling to get to my account).

He certainly has access to unlocked VBIOS. EVGA also has a special voltage tool only for KPE. Really all you need (well that and cooling capability)

I don't agree with merging the queues because if that happens many people in the queue's won't see a card for probably 6 months plus if the current trend continues.

And that is a fair concern, but it also reflects the reality of nVidia's stock situation and why more people should be against the proposed 3080Ti/3070Ti cards rumored for early next year, as these cards use existing chips that could be allocated to 3090/3080 (GA102) or 3060Ti/3070 (GA104) cards that are still in high demand.  Merging of the queues would result in a temporary stall for October sign-ups, but once the remaining launch sign-ups are cleared, the queue should move far quicker for everyone with reduced SKUs being made.

Your concern is valid, but now the question is, what would you propose EVGA do regarding those SKUs still stuck on launch day from September?  If they prioritize making those cards, it means winding down production on yours, which pushes your delivery back anyway.

There is no good solution that'll satisfy everybody, unfortunately, but maintaining the status quo doesn't seem like it would be acceptable either.  The benefit of these forums and threads is we can propose alternatives and compromises that EVGA might prefer and make everyone happier, even if we can't satisfy everyone.

The problem with posting your negative feedback on these forums is that EVGA is only moderating them to make sure discussions don't get out of hand or way off topic. You aren't really making any sort of difference because no one who has the authority to make changes to the system is reading your posts. You are essentially just airing your frustrations to people who are waiting patiently for their turn to purchase a GPU; we understood you the first time. The 2nd time we still got it. Now by the 100th time, it is just annoying! You are beating a dead horse. Besides, the vast majority of people (EVGA customers) are pleased with how EVGA has handled the process since the original release. The only thing I would change is to just be able to have my credit card pre-entered and charged upon GPU shipment so that I don't have to check my email/this forum constantly in order to get a GPU when my time comes.

ok, I am puzzled by something here. This focus on drop time. Wouldn't that only be relevant if ALL the times were filled up?  I'm guessing all it really shows is that you are nearing your time but it really depends on the number of people ahead of you and we have no way of knowing that. The post above is "35 minutes away" - that could mean as little as 1 person ahead in line or 2,100 people if they signed up at the rate of 1/sec.

I expect this whole exercise is meant to give us something to do while we wait - not a complaint - just an observation.

Correct.

Does
  • 489.6GT/s Texture Fill Rate
really matters? And its for 1440p gaming.

Is it worth paying the extra $$? They're all the same spec. just different texture fill rate.. :/

If you already ordered the liquid block, I would honestly say stick with what you have coming - because there are no blocks for the Kingpin yet, and they'll be very niche if they come out at all, since it is a very-limited run card.

Not that I WANT you not to get the Kingpin cuz that'll move the queue forward another spot & get me one step closer to GPU Armageddon Doomsday...

*Eureka moment* are the NVLink bridge connectors in the same spot on the Hybrid & Kingpin cards?.... no I can't do that, and I especially can't spend $80 on a NVLink bridge for a few days of testing. lol

Thanks for the suggestion! Appreciate it. The waterblock limitation did cross my mind, unless a weird urge gets the best of me, most likely not picking this up. The HC variants updated to say no more auto notifications with no ETA.

The EK block is on its way, any day now, before Christmas for sure.

The TUF I'll have after Christmas but I wasn't planning to build until the first week of the new year.

My notice time was 9:04:07, if that helps. Are you planning on getting the KP?

Cheers.

I heard it today that the 3080TI will be moved on February.......LMFAO!!!.... why the 3080 is Available now? LOL!.

Yeah heard the same. Apparently they don't view AMD as a big enough threat and can wait it out. I am glad I pulled the trigger on the 3090 (even with everyone saying its a bad buy), since I was never gonna get the 80 with its 10 gigs, so would've had to wait for the ti and I don't want to wait half a year, anymore.

ok, I am puzzled by something here.

Correct.

There could be so  many people crammed in the first minutes. The site crashed a few times after all.

As for the spreadsheet, yeah.. Newt mentioned that it was constantly hacked, filled with poisoned data and not updated back when people got their cards.
I think you will have better luck getting the estimates by using NEWT's timeline.

For those who are still waiting for cards that launched on 9/17.....

I saw the list populate up until it got vandalized and there was one clear trend. I will use the air cooled 3080 FTW Ultra as an example. The VAST majority of time stamps were on 9/17 and 9/18. 9/18 had about 60-70% as many time stamps as 9/17. After that, it dropped off precipitously. What this means is now that the queue is in the late morning hours of 9/18, it's safe to say that at least half of the time stamps in the queue have been addressed. It might not seem like the queue is moving and on it's face it can be demoralizing, but EVGA has sold a LOT of 3080 FTW Ultra's just to make it this far. Once the queue gets beyond 9/18, I bet that days will start to peel away instead of hours and minutes.

~edit

Yes, I know that the list does not cover all the time stamps that were issued or even come close to it, but it's a large sample size so I make these assumptions with a high degree of confidence.
