RandMart68 Well this was sad. I went and searched on eBay and mercari for a couple cards that had the most recent movement on here. I ran their serial numbers from the pictures they post and it appears we have many scalpers here. The Average days since shipped from evga was 55 days , highest 5 months (pool of 20+ cards)
Unfortunately that is the way this entire thing shook out. I was on top of the notify thing way back 2 years ago through sheer luck. I clicked Notify me for at least 10 skus. This gave me a choice when those cards started coming in... I could play robin hood and distribute my cards at cost to friends who I knew were gamers, keep the cards and make a tidy profit, or give back the queue spots and hope the cards did not go to scalpers/miners. I felt the right choice was to sell them to my friends for cost, with the promise that they would be used for gaming and not resold. For others, well, that's dangling the chance to pay for their own card and then some... I refer to this as the "casual scalper"... One who isn't actively trying to scalp, but given the chance, they won't sell the card at cost. It is a personal choice, but it highly contributes to the rise in prices, especially for used. So many people are trying to pass their costs on to the next person. The same goes for people who turn around and give their friend a "deal" on their 5 year old 1080ti for $700, really? As for the continued scalping, the older EVGA system (despite the daily confusion here) was pretty easy to use for personal gain. Thus it was ripe for people with less-than-high moral fiber to continue to use for profit, and the cycle continues.
...So, if you sell it to a friend, is ok to recoup taxs and shipping costs. So, is evga a scalper because they sell the cards for more than nvidia charges them for. What about if you buy a house, is ok for the owner to make a profit and sell it for more than what he paid for it.
...
So, if you sell it to a friend, is ok to recoup taxs and shipping costs. >Absolutely. It would be up to your friend to complain if this was deemed unfair. If they had the means (were dedicated and crafty enough to actually find a GPU for sale at MSRP or thereabouts) then they would pay that tax and shipping themselves anyway. No difference. So, is evga a scalper because they sell the cards for more than nvidia charges them for. >No, EVGA adds value. They don't get finished products from NVIDIA and resell for a profit. They take the GPU (and BOM kit) then manufacture the discrete cards and add cooling, provide warranty, etc. What about if you buy a house, is ok for the owner to make a profit and sell it for more than what he paid for it. >Yep, but this is a good example that is more representative of the GPU market. The question is, does that homeowner make a profit so that they can afford the next house at an equally (%-wise, by market) inflated price (similar to someone selling their GPU at market price in order to afford the next version)? Are they buying them just to sell for straight profit, singularly or in quantity? There is also a caveat where a house "flipper" who buys the house to fix up and sell is somewhere in between... but at least they add value.

lciarlo I'm so tired of hearing about scalpers. So, if you sell it to a friend, is ok to recoup taxs and shipping costs. I didn't answer last time because this is not the forum for this sort of discussion. This will be my last comment on the subject. You are making lots of incorrect comparisons. EVGA is a manufacturer. They sell at a profit because they have costs associated with manufacturing those cards. They release updates and honor warranties. That is in no way the same as a scalper that adds nothing to the supply chain. If scalpers were importing cards that would be one thing but they are not, they are buying cards that would otherwise go to consumers, adding a profit margin and then selling them back to those same consumers. The consumers are worse off than if they had bough the card directly. A home owner doesn't go around buying tons of houses and selling them at a profit. There are a few companies that do that and it's just as unscrupulous as scalpers. The reason people dislike scalpers so intently is because of what they do. It's legal but unscrupulous. They use bots to buy out the cards before anyone else in the name of profit. They abuse systems (e.g. Stepup) so those systems get changed in ways that hurt everyone. They add absolutely no value to the supply chain other than to enrich themselves at the expense of consumers.

I had dropped the KPE Hybrid from my two "active" registrations back in the October culling. Still holding out hope that the HC will somehow get some CPR. Also keeping an eye out for the purported 3090 Ti...if it ever appears. But, yes, all of this seems like noise after the events of this week. The video of the Ukrainian dad saying goodbye to his daughter that has been making the rounds this morning...it broke me.

I am not so sure that is the case. The cards that they are selling in the DIY configurator all have queues of about 4 months or less so they are getting close to catching up. The 3080 12GB is also on queue 3.0. The cards that are in really high demand haven't hit the DIY configurator (e.g. 3060ti).

No, I don't...it is just I am going for a KPE HC. And, back in October 2021, EVGA required everybody go down to no more than two registrations. I continue to believe that EVGA will produce enough KPE Hybrids to satisfy the remaining queue for that SKU (based on our self-reported list, it is almost complete already).

Out of the next 35 3080s on Ebay over half have 0 bids because the starting bid was last weeks price. Things are looking up, albeit slowly. There's some reason to think that this situation is getting better even though supply flow is drying up.

That's really good news. I went to a store today and they had a lot of stock, 3070s, 3070Tis, 3080s 12GB and 3090s.

Not sure if that was reason why sale didnt go through but probably slowed me down enough that next thing i knew the site was down with 'Too much traffic' message. Came so close. Anyhow got an Asus OC 3090 from Microcenter today still in box but feel being raped in how much it cost and may return it. Really prefer Evga. Will try DIY again later today. Thanks.

Pretty sure you have 30 days to return the 3090 to Micro Center. Pull it out and play with it and see if you really need to spend that much money.

Congratulations! Thanks for reporting back. Enjoy your new gaming goodness!
Thank you! I was looking at the date and times list, but looks like the 3885 isn't even on the list anymore.
this is the KR NON-LHR variant?....wow...that must be a one off...they moved that queue over to 10G-P5-3885-KL...soo that is pretty rare that you actually got a new KR variant of that card
Yeah the KR NON LHR. I was surprised I got a noty since it hasn't moved basically since launch. I guess they had one laying around and sent it. idk, I just know I got really lucky! When they switched everyone over to the KL I reverted back to KR thinking I was going to be one of the few that switched back and get a noty quick but that's wasn't the case but 1 year and half later I got a noty, I might be the only one to get a noty for that SKU.

My guess is that it depends on what percentage of cards they usually sell through bundles. If resellers are cutting the bundled card orders then you could find those cards ending up in the DIY but they might also focus on cutting down the queues.

thats not a terrible price $1464 for the card, a cheap 750w psu and a cheap mouse, before taxes and shipping. the card itself is $1350.i used a 3080 ti hybrid and the thermals were excellent

3080 FTW3 Ultra Hybrid 12GB available through the configurator right now (you need to buy a PSU and 1 other item with it - cheapest option would be the 450BR PSU for $55 + X15/X17 mouse for $60) https://www.evga.com/products/diy/
Why EVGA don’t do this in Europe? If I had that possibility I would buy my GPU. that's not fair… : (
Probably because of the shipping cost? EVGA ships items to Europe from Taiwan.
the diy wont let you buy just any psu, only one rated for that gpu
I don't see a DIY on EVGA's EU site. You have a link to it?
thats not a terrible price $1464 for the card, a cheap 750w psu and a cheap mouse, before taxes and shipping. the card itself is $1350.i used a 3080 ti hybrid and the thermals were excellent
What are you talking about? I asked for a link to the DIY on EVGA's EU site. If you're not responding to me, stop quoting me.

enewt Friday morning. The news from overseas is still top of mind. Stay safe. Be kind to one another. K|NGP|N K|NGP|N HC (Queue) 3999 06/15/2021 09:17:29 K|NGP|N Hybrid (Queue) 3998 07/17/2021 08:47:05
Depressing news from abroad. I can't seem to stop looking for updates with an eye to the pacific part of the equation. It seems there has been some precoordinated collusion from large adversarial nations. What that potentially means for Taiwan, and tech in general, is not good. enewt, based on the above, did you pass on the Hybrid?
I had dropped the KPE Hybrid from my two "active" registrations back in the October culling. Still holding out hope that the HC will somehow get some CPR. Also keeping an eye out for the purported 3090 Ti...if it ever appears. But, yes, all of this seems like noise after the events of this week. The video of the Ukrainian dad saying goodbye to his daughter that has been making the rounds this morning...it broke me.
Having been in that young man's shoes, I completely understand the emotions they are going through. I hope those of us here that haven't had to do the same will never have to experience it. In an effort to not close on a downer, Ouch. "The Great Culling" came for us all. It could be a B rated straight to DVD movie starring a disappointed gamer with cameos from members of this forum. Maybe another T-Shirt idea... Best of luck with the HC!
