kraade If you should happen to score a 3080 12gb at "msrp", you have been scalped by the factory. its double the price to 2 more GB of vram. j.s.
Agreed, the 3080 12GB MSRP is a rip off.
Absolutely a rip off.
Hey EVGA, when will you bring these prices down to a realistic level?
I can get on a que at Microcenter, but no chance in the world will I pay $1200+tax on a 3080...that's absurd. I get the shortage, but what's the deal on these cards having what...a $500 upcharge?
It's NVIDIA that sets the MSRP, not EVGA. Nvidia has proven to be greedy, and the 3080 12gb is just the latest example. They have the "Scalpers are making it work, so why can't we?" mentality.
Yes, you are correct and I should have said "Hey EVGA, when will these prices be brought down to a realistic level" and not "when will """you""" in hopes there was some inside info.
all graphics cards are overpriced. now that being said, i dont see how you think that it's a ripoff. a few years ago the 2080 ti was selling for $1200-$1300, now we have the 3080 ti and the 3080 12gb model which is selling for almost the same price, with over twice the performance as a 2080 ti. even buying from the evga diy, its not that bad of a price, you have to buy a psu and a aio with it (but it's something you can use now or in the future). i know my opinion won't be very popular, but i think it's realistic.

I don't agree mate. The 2080ti was another huge ripoff to start with and if you compare the 3080 10GB and the 12GB prices it's a really big difference for just 2 extra gb of memory and some other negligible improvements

The 3080 12GB is more akin to 3080 Ti than to a 3080 10GB. Nvidia should have named it like 3080 Tw (tweener). I also thought the 2080 Ti was too expensive - especially the HC version, which was allegedly a bit more expensive than a 3080 Ti FTW3.

I don't give a crap what a 2080 Ti sold for, it's irrelevant. EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 XC3 ULTRA Hybrid 10GB $889.99EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 XC3 ULTRA Hybrid 12GB $1299.99That's a $410 difference, not including the extra tax you will pay on the $410 higher cost.

Exactly. There was no point to releasing it other than to hide the MSRP. When they went from a $699 1080Ti to a $1199 2080Ti, they lost me completely.

The 2000 series was heavily promoted because of ray tracing but in the end a lot of people just kept their 1000 series cards and totally ignore it. I still remember how during the 3000 series presentation Jensen said to those 1000 series owners that it was the time to upgrade

These bots move fast, man. I was looking at picking up a new PSU (since my 750 is getting kind of old) and while I was sitting there weighing my options, everything sold out.

It seems Monday has learned a little too well on how to act from last week. Not whole lot going on so far. 3080 12gb...not worth it, agreed. Kind of the same way I feel about the 3080ti. Just stump up for the 3090 if you want to burn through cash. OAN: Most of my predictions have been completely wrong (which card line to get into, 3060 XC availability after queue fulfillment, to name a couple). However, since the 3070ti seems to hit the same mark, last week of Sept, I wonder if they start hitting the DIY page more often... I hope you all have the best of luck on your preferred card drops this week.

Everyone agrees the 3080 12GB (just like the 3080 Ti before) was nothing more than a cash grab... but all are gone in hours on DIY page. Until people stop paying these prices, they are here to stay...

kirbyrj Exactly. There was no point to releasing it other than to hide the MSRP. When they went from a $699 1080Ti to a $1199 2080Ti, they lost me completely.
Seriously. The price jumps of the top end chips are crazy. $499 GTX 580 -> $699 780 Ti -> $1199 2080 Ti -> $1399 3080 Ti Obviously there were cards in between but those are just where the price jumped. At first they just brought back the "Ti" nomenclature to add to the top end chip and up charged $200 for it. The 580 was the same level of chip as the 780Ti. 780 was cut down. And then with Turing they just stopped even trying to hide it and just went crazy. I wonder what 4080Ti will cost. People are willing to continue to pay these prices, so where will Nvidia stop?

My guess is anyone who won't buy a 3080 ti because of the cost is not going to get a 4080. Prices are not going down, at least not significantly, they will continue to go up with new releases of cards. I truly believe that life is too short to wait a year or two for something that you really want. If you really want it, bite the bullet and get it. Isn't that why we work and save our money, so we can buy stuff that we want.

Oh I am with you, I get the cards I want for sure. Always have. I used to rock 3 way SLI of the top cards for every generation when it was still a thing. I am for sure part of the problem. I just wonder where it ends? Do they keep going up $200 every generation? I mean these last two have been a bit crazy in the jumps in price. They usually stay with a certain price for awhile. Like 8800GTX-GTX280-GTX285-GTX480-GTX580 @ $499 and then 780Ti-980Ti-1080Ti @ $699 before the major jump in price $1199 for 2080Ti. But then the very next generation, another $200. Obviously the current state of affairs with mining and shortages have a role in the price but it's a bit out of hand. It would have seemed more reasonable to keep the 3080Ti at $1199 I feel, and probably the 4080Ti too, but since people (including me) buy them anyway they have no incentive to stop. I just wonder what the price is that people will stop buying. I am not sure for me personally, but there will be a limit.

Now the only remaining queue 2.0 card to report no drops ever is 3971 (3090 XC3 Black). Given it's a 3090, it will probably skyrocket once the other 3090 queues are finished or finishing. Heliocon What would you project for 3897 based on que date of: 2-10-21 03:15:07?
My linear estimate says 03/04/2022 21:30:44. Though that queue has slowed down recently. It's also the first one I ever signed up for.

You can check your timestamp at https://www.evga.com/community/myNotifies.aspIf you could post your timestamp from that page here (right-click, paste as plain text) then we can all give you different theories about when your card will come. Otherwise, enewt posts a twice daily update here to check to see how fast your card moved (or didn't) each day.

Technically the top chip of the 30 series would be the 3090 ti which has the full ampere die Argument could be made that it's a titan in disguise.. Also for those who criticize the 3080 12gb It's basically a 3080 super without the label of being super 😆 🤣 You could also think of the 3080 ti being the direct successor of the 2080 ti, with the 3090 (ti) being a result of newer 8nm node allowing for more scaling of the die, since a 2090 Turing card based on the less efficient 12nm node would probably have been too much power/heat to be usable/feasible

Sheeesh, hopefully soon. I just picked up the KH version from Best Buy last month. These queue times don't give me very much hope for my 3050 queue time below vvvv

kraade Disappointing dry Monday, but on the up side , seeing lots of 0 bid auctions on ebay today.
Which SKUs? Just curious.
I just search rtx 3080, it will show ti and 12 gb too, right now they are trending 3080 1300, 12gb 1500 , Ti 1800 , so auctions starting higher than this are getting skipped, for the most part . Ebay service fee is 15% plus your shipping costs. Once we get the demand price under that , we will get the flippers and scalpers out of the demand side of the equation. But, It's up to what the heard is willing to pay, its improving even if it's slowly. The 12gb is such a horrible value and anyone who bought the card to flip , undoubtedly needs to get stuck with it, mho.

KingNothing300 When can I expect to get the 3080 ti? I'm getting sick of my 2080 ti. I think I'm close. Last drop was 6/30. I think I'm early July or something.
You can check your timestamp at https://www.evga.com/community/myNotifies.asp If you could post your timestamp from that page here (right-click, paste as plain text) then we can all give you different theories about when your card will come. Otherwise, enewt posts a twice daily update here to check to see how fast your card moved (or didn't) each day.
My timestamp is 12G-P5-3953-KR 7/2/2021 9:12:10 AM PT. Any estimates would be appreciated!
